Excellent place for some genuine Egyptian food, we tried different flavoured falafel and fool (fava beans), and everything was tasty, served promptly and with a smile. Overall, it was a nice experience!

We asked for a shakshouka a hawawshi and absolutely loved it we asked for more actually asked. We also tried the fries which I liked and the sweet rice pudin it was fine! We couldn’t pay by card so that was upsetting and it was a negative factor, couldn’t see why such a known restaurant didn’t accept card , for me as a tourist that had to go and take money from the atm with more taxes was a bummer

This is a popular eatery in Zamalek and we had to wait for a table to be seated. That said there are only 4 or 5 tables in the restaurant, should one want to sit in. Take-out option is available. In a normal day I would give this establishment a 5 star review, however, it merits only 4 stars on this visit. We had to wait around to be seated, which is acceptable under current circumstances. Once we were seated the aircon dripped onto our backs. This again we could overlook as at least the condensation didn't flavor the food. My only disappointment was my choice of food the koshary was not the best I have ever eaten. It was premixed and not separately served, presumably to save space and the chef ran out of fried onions. All in all the prices are fair and the food comes out fast. Seeing the popularity, maybe there is a need for a larger venue or expansion of this one.

If your looking for authentic Egyptian food away from touristic places this is the place to go to. Bustling all day long with locals , the dishes that's should be tried are the egg chakchouka Mdamas with tahini.

Very small place with limited farm-style table seating and a wall table (16-18ppl max). They have an extensive menu with some of the usual dishes you would find in most local restaurants. Although the seating was limited, I was seated relatively quickly but the food (a sandwich) took over 40mins to come from out. The food was ok, but the service needs vast improvements. I would think with so many tourists in and out of this place they would make an effort to do better. They brought me something else meal and vanished. Tip: The Zööba rice pudding -- the only thing I thoroughly enjoyed.

Mmmm… YESS!?! This place serves great food. Had the sausage plate and alexandrian Ful. Well-balanced, bright, and colourful visually and on the palate. A must get is the Zooba rice pudding. Must.

I had the koshari, which was slightly better than I expected it would be. Nice vibes in the restaurant, and would like to come back to try the other things on the menu. However, menu seemed limited.

Very small about 4 tables for 10 people max. But it’s pretty good food and very reasonable price. Most vegetarian but I recommend meat with rice. Opens during Ramadan at 10AM

Definitely worth a visit. Delicious food in a friendly environment. I wish the restaurant sold the T-shirts the staff wear, they are so cool and I would definitely have bought one!

Well seasoned Egyptian fare, quick service, pleasant service. Sever missed one item when ordering which was likely a language barrier issue. Definite repeat and will get the basterma eggs for sure next time. The sausage plate with rice and stir fried veg was very good.

Came here a couple times with my husband - we tried the classic tameeya vegan sandwich, their fries and my husband tried the cheese hawawshi. All the food was so delicious, served quickly by the friendly staff and so so reasonably priced!! In fact, made for a very cheap meal. Would absolutely recommend!

Chilled restaurant in a upscale neighbourhood of Cairo. The menu is basic and does decent interpretations of Egyptian street food. This restaurant is also listed in the mena best 50 rankings.

Got to check out Zooba, Zamalek branch on our Egypt trip, the place is not too big so you might wanna get there when they are not too busy, the food is good, and inexpensive, must try when you are around town. There is also a coffee shop just across the street.

Best Egyptian breakfast ever. We ordered falafel (very different from what I’ve tried before…crunchier fresher), shakshouska was very nice when eaten with sweet harissa (spicy, sweet bell pepper dips). Highly recommended! P.S.: They have branches in New York as well!

Great place for Egyptian food. We came here for breakfast and it was hands down the best choice. Try the falafel and the eggplant with fava beans (it's the one on the right in the photo, I can't remember the name). It's definitely worth to try.

Being in the heart of Zamalek and special 26 July area is a big plus. Also , I would like to recommend to have other kind of food variety and specially the basic sweet like rice pudding Good luck guys!!! Over all thank you Keep it up

Cute little place with small tables. Four of us visited this place during our trip to Egypt. We tried the small size of tameeyas (spicy and the brinjal ones) , Both were good. The fakhfakina(mixed fruit juice) was quite nice. The tameeya salad was good as well. The rice pudding was a bit sweet but good to have a taste and share among yourselves

  • 5/5 Adwait K. 1 year ago on Google
This a perfect place for foreigners to try Egyptian food. Lots of options are available in varying portions which makes trying easier. Our favorites were the sandwich versions of Tameeya, especially the spicy one. Would also recommend trying Kosheri, Ful and the Zooba special rice pudding. We loved the taste so much, that we took take aways before our flight out. In case you prefer travelling with the metro, would recommend going to the Zooba in El Maadi Station, which has slightly more seating places as well.

While the venue was nice from the seating, the area is quite small with barely enough seats for 15 people, not great for busy days. The service was alright, however the bathrooms didn't live up to it. The food can be hit or miss. While the Molokheyya chicken is quite dry, the Egyptian beef sausage pasta was excellent. I'd also recommend the Dawood Basha Meatballs! All in all, I'd say there are better places, however, if it's nearby or you like to mark off every place on your list, it's a good place to go. Tips are always appreciated. :-)

Great food and service! We ordered plates of Alexandrian Ful, Taamia pieces, Shakshouka and the house fries. Overall the food was great and authentic and tasted homey and delicious, Ful was well seasoned and the vegetables were fresh, Taamia was crunchy outside and fluffy inside, Shakshouka and fries truly tasted homemade! There's usually a waiting list so expect to wait around 10 to 15 mins before being seated, unless you're ordering take away. The place is a bit small so might not fit large groups, and the stairs to the toilet are tricky, but the toilet itself is very clean. The items are a tad overpriced though! But the food quality is good so it's worth a try.

Waiters are so rude and they don’t make you feel welcomed into the place as they didn’t have a warm exterior and the food came cold, not even close to warm and the taste was mediocre. They didn’t provide a big selection of drinks to even try to enjoy with the food. All they had was diet pepsi and karkadel. It was a bad experience for me and I will never recommend this place here unless you are really starving to death.

The restaurant not only serves great food but also stands out for its speedy service, a which was a pleasant surprise compared to other restaurants in Egypt 👍🏻 Ordered cheese hawawshi, tameeya salad, fakhfakin and hisbiscus juice. Everything was so delicious! Highly recommended.

Zooba's breakfast shines with authentic Egyptian flavors, clearly outshining the service and ambiance. The space may be small and bustling, but the delicious food makes up for the wait and the service. A must-try for food over frills. #AuthenticTaste"

I adored zooba once I tried it. It has a vey cozy nice place to sit with the atmosphere you can live in it as if you are in a hostel restaurant in europe, and at the same time with popular traditional egyptian dishes that is extremely tasty, amazing flavour and clean, surrounded by really warm environment and nice staff.

The restaurant apparently won some fifty best restaurants award and for a very good reason, the food is very good and cheap by American standards. Rice pudding, koshari, and especially the hawashi we’re all really good. The only thing that disappointed me was the chicken soup which was very mediocre.

  • 5/5 Joao P. 2 years ago on Google
A micro place (has only seats for 10-12 people) but where the food is really good and the prices are not crazy. I do recommend having a meal here during your stay in Cairo, if you are lucky enough to get a table (no reservations, just show up).

My experience at Zooba was excellent. I had the eggs and basterma, 2 taamiyas with chilli and lemon, a white cheese dip with tomatoes, and rice pudding for dessert. I was mainly taken away by the taamiya which was so flavorful and the rice pudding which had a great aftertaste. The staff is friendly and the place looks great. Will definitely come again when I’m back in town.

The food was average at best. The portions were deceptively small. I ordered the chicken shawarma, the hawawshi sandwich (stuffed toasted pita sandwich with minced beef), the rice pudding and mint lemonade. The only food item that had any delightful flavour was the mint in the lemonade. Everything else was all crunch no flavour. The service was also subpar as the server barely acknowledged my presence in the restaurant. I won’t attribute that to “language barrier” as I have been in tons of restaurants where the server and I communicated finely with smiles and signs. The ambience is a cool tiny resto. But Nonetheless, this place was overall underwhelming to me.

It’s like a fast food store but for Egyptian cuisine! Friendly service and cosy restaurant that would hold about 15-20 people max, food comes out fast and was extremely tasty and fresh.

Delicious and clean traditional Egyptian food. Great place for a vegan to feast. Cheap without affecting the quality of the food. Only downside is the tight space which some might like as it feels casual and homey.

Modern take on local dishes. The food was delicious. This establishment is small maybe 6 to 7 tables, so sometimes there might be a queue to sit down. Long waiting time from between when we ordered until the food came. Waiters are not super attentive or are busy so you have to get their attention.

Nice and modern place where you can try different Egyptian street foods. We had the traditional sausage, cheese hawawshi and the street sides for two. All was amazing! Very fresh flavours and the best Egyptian baladi bread we had in our trip. Also recommend the hibiscus limonade. Only downside is that the place is small and due to its popularity you'll probably need to wait to get a table. If you're in a rush, you can order take away.
