Sushi is not an level of 5 star hotel restaurant because of very low rice quality and too big rice size while too small sashimi size on rice and the lack of wasabi on sishi(I believe this chef doesn't have confidence of wasabi), end up very low sushi quality compared to high price in 5 star hotel's restaurant in the perspective of the man (me)who used to have sushi or sashimi every weeks for entire life. Their chef do not know how to make sushi in a high-edge class. I heard they used to have japanese chef but no more have him. To be frank with you, The chef who do not experience to eat good sushi should not know how to cook sushi very well. It is kinda native sense. That is why I respect the restaurant which have japanese chef who experience raw sea food for entire life. I believe here sushi quality is as similar as mori and garnell sushi but some good quality garnell and mori branches are better than here. and the Fuego in zamalek is better than here. If I were you, I won't go here to eat sushi. In addition, There are mamy useless menu make-up such seafood soup which is not an japanese style but egyptian style and etc. However, Fried rice is very nice. And the service by waiter and manager is wonderful and the mood by beautiful interior and cozy light are like 5 star hotel's restaurant. and hot noodle is so so. In summary: I wouldn't recommend you to eat sushi here. but You better go to mori sushi in citystar because of cheaper and same quality. The restaurant need someone who review their food make-up and quality. ------------------------------------ I visited again here today. Quality is still bad as same as it was. * Refer to pictures which shows you not a good quality of foods here!!!!! * What I mean is that compared to high price and their concept which looks that they pursue to be high-end Japanese restaurant but in reality, They don't have fresh and high quality of raw fish and doesn't know how to use wasabi and cook rice and make suhi with proper size of rice but still providing good service and have excellent mood with luxurious interiors. Good news is that new japanese chef just arrived. I wish they achieved to improve enough quality ASAP to be suitable for high price in 5stars hotel. * Right now, Quality is very similar to mori sush or garnell sushi but they provide these with reasonable prices but here never!!!! In summary, I don't want to waist my money here but I will visit again because they scouted japanese chef. If they can't improve their quality with japanese chef, They better get rid of sushi and sahimi corner and run tepanyaki only due to quality issue because it would make customers feel unsatisfied with price and the expectation of 5stars hotel restaurant, which should be better for intercontinental hotel I think.

Shogun Japanese restaurant offers various selection of gourmet food especially Sushi, Teppanyaki seafood and meat which are very tasty and delicious. Staff are always friendly and professional. Many thanks the one and only Chef Ahmed who passionately cooks Teppanyaki with interesting performance. Many thanks Bassm, Fady, Ahmed and Fekry for their warm welcoming and kind hospitality whenever my family visit the restaurant. The restaurant offered us free three hours parking which covered total visit and was nice gesture.

Please don't eat here 1. The meat has a sour taste, not sure if the ingredients are fresh 2. The sauce of yakitori and eel rice has been mushy, very bitter and unpalatable 3. Sushi is really bad It was a sad meal.

First class dinning experience. Very elaborate menu selection, great service, and a nice ambience. Drinks and wine are all good, prices are reasonable compared to other first class places. Only downside is the dessert selection will not appeal to those not familiar with Japanese sweets, but you probably will be too full for dessert anyway.

I really enjoyed Shogun. The ambiance was lovely and the service was great. The meat was cooked perfectly to our liking and the yakitori (chicken skewers) was very juicy. I’d certainly visit again.

If u like Japanese food...then skip it. Intercontinental needs to hire Japanese chef....this is a shame. They managed to fail the basic edamame... everything was terrible. We were 4 and one of us is a Japanese chef...we were not expecting much...but not that low either. Terrible.

We stayed in the CITYSTARS hotel and dined here twice. This restaurant has a beautiful ambience and it makes a lovely evening meal. They have a versatile menu with lots of options and a Teppanyaki is a great show. Great Staff (I can’t remember their names now.. was it Andi?!) but we had a good time both nights. Highly recommend giving them a try

We loved the place! Very authentic and cozy atmosphere with light asian music. Perfect place to escape a reality. Feels like you have already traveled to Japan. Serviing food is a particular delight! Chiefs are making a show, and this is a big part of experience. Beautiful and fast. Service is one of a top I have seen - thanks personally to Ahmed, he was one of a puzzles of this wonderful date we have. And at the end of the dinner we have gotten a delicious complimentary plate of desserts. Exquisite! Also, please note that you get a free parking ticket from the restaurant - another compliment. Amazing Japanese atmosphere, excellent service, everything is fresh. It was my first time eating sushi, I now know it is not for me but I can still say that everything was fresh. My only problem is that prices are high and the service though very good can be borderline intrusive. Unique experience in Egypt worth trying if you can afford it.

the overall experience was nice, food is better than a lot of other sushi places in town, some plates and appetizers were so good and authentic, actually in the beginning we were so excited but maybe what lowered my enthusiasm towards the place was the service. prices is quiet good as well, you can find varied prices that suits different budgets which is nice. and i wouldn't imagine paying more for such a lame service, the restaurant manager is nice and decent however the whole service is so bad, someone was quiet nagging "first came to take the order and i asked him to wait, then came back few min later to ask me do you need help like how stupid!.. and so on", but the top of it all, was how they always left the table so messy and unclean and we had to call them each time to clean it, even after we finished and we were about to have desert they served dessert over the messy table with the used tableware, and cloth on it and some spilled soy sauce.. moreover one of the orders were set menu and brought it incomplete but didn't even bother to ask for it! honestly weird service and sense of clean in general. last thing don't have dessert there, they don't have their own even if it's in the menu! they bring it from the hotel bakery and it's so so average, not recommended.

Although I am not a fan of Sushi, but I liked the mode and service. It is a very quiet friendly place, so cosy. You will like the show of food while being cooked in front of you. But If you choose to watch the show and you are a group of more than 4, you won't be able to talk to each other, because you will be sitting separated. Anyway, it was a lovely time.

Great ambiance and food. Tried the Teppanyaki set menu and sushi sets. Both were great. The live cooking show is really nice especially if you have kids. Try the Margarita cocktail. Hostess Nourhan is very friendly.

Can’t recommend Shogun enough! Service was exceptional the staff are very welcoming and attentive. I ate here on my own whilst on a business trip and felt very comfortable the beautiful fish tank kept me company. The food was delicious, I had the Shogun Teppanyaki the portion size is big and supper tasty! Highly recommend this dish! Great experience thanks Shogun! ☺️

The absolute worst restaurant I went to for a hibachi experience. The chef was somewhat entertaining but the food was super pricey and absolutely terrible. We ordered all teppenyaki entrees which included shrimp and lobster tail and lemme tell you, the lobster tail was smaller than the shrimp and was super overpriced. Everyone had to saver their tiniest piece of £600 lobster tail at the end to “enjoy it”. Forget about the size of the lobster tail, everything tasted fishy and almost the same flavor since they were all cooked with the same spatula and same seasonings on everything. The chicken tastes like bad shrimp, the beef was tender and good but needed seasoning and everything else was decent nothing wow. The only thing I would “recommend” is their sushi, it was actually really good but for the price, wouldn’t go back again since I’ve had better at much cheaper places. Don’t waste your money at this place unless they magically do everything completely different and not waste peoples time by thinking their posh and here for just a show. Give us both a show and great food. 2/10 would not recommend

Good restaurant with a great atmosphere located downstairs in City Stars. I personally don't like the fact that I can't see any windows in the restaurant and it was obviously a bit dark but it's my personal taste. I had dinner on the bar and it was nice to see the chefs cooking right in front of my table. I had some sushis which were tasty but not the best I had in Cairo, and given the other plates that I saw passing by I'm sure I could have made a better choice.

Shogun is the go-to place for Japanese food in Cairo! Hands down the freshest ingredients, they had what might have been the freshest Sushi I ever had. The crew are true master chefs (the meat was cooked to a perfect Medium, a first for me in Cairo).
