This place is huge- it could easily fill an entire day with everything from automobile collections, pioneer life, and coal mining as well as a really well done old-fashioned midway. I enjoyed the fact everything was included in the admission. We also ate at a really nice restaurant there- the food was perfect. And if you want to ride the train, a tractor pulled cart or horse pulled carriage you are in luck! Please like this review to help me justify my senseless hobby of writing them for every place I have ever visited ;)

This is such a fun place to bring the family! There are so many things to do here. We rode the steam train, looked at the train cars, blacksmith shop, dentist office, rode on the rides, visited the gift shop, ate donuts and cotton candy. Then there was so much more we didn't get to do because we ran out of time. There are employees everywhere in costume to help out or talk about the different buildings and things to see. Everyone was so helpful and kind! The treats were yummy and reasonably priced. This time we were here with a school trip but we've been here before with just family. Love this place! Next time we'll visit the ranch and ride the boat.

My recent visit to the Western Canada History Park was truly remarkable. The park offers a captivating journey into the rich history and diverse cultural heritage of Western Canada. With interactive exhibits and engaging activities for all age groups, it ensures that every visitor can learn and enjoy themselves simultaneously. The knowledgeable and friendly staff were eager to share their passion for the region's past, making the experience even more memorable. The park's well-maintained grounds, coupled with stunning scenery, created the perfect backdrop for this historical adventure. I highly recommend the Western Canada History Park for anyone seeking to gain a deeper understanding of the region's history and culture.

Heritage Park is lots of fun for everyone! So many things to see and do. From the old gas stations and antique cars to the vintage fair rides and a farm with horses, pigs, goats and more. Old fashioned ice cream from Vulcan and the vintage candy store! There’s something for everyone. Take a ride on the train or go on the historical paddle wheeler boat! Have fun. We did!

You cannot do everything in this park or see everything in this park in a couple of hours. Plan to spend a day. It's a beautiful place and everything has been so well restored and taken care of. Love how you feel from the staff like you are back in time. Everyone there was super friendly. Each staff member was always willing to give you any information you needed. This is a spectacular place to go. My only complaint would be that it is a bit pricey when you have a big group and to also have to pay for parking was disappointing. Highly recommend going here.

We have the best experience exploring the park. We rode the train to go around and eat ice cream and some other sweet staff they have. It was a great fresh air visiting the farm yard and the little town around. The vintage cars are cool as well.

I cannot recommend Heritage Park enough!! I'm a big fan of historic villages and this place checks every box for me. I brought my two nephews (4 and 2 years old) and they had the time of their life. Between riding the train, the amusement rides, and watching the live demonstrations, we were hooked on everything! Heavily considering getting a membership because this place is just awesome!

The Alberta Day (on 2/9/2023) celebration was held here! There was a drone show on 9pm. And throughout the day there’re a lot of booths such as live music show, kid corners, food trucks for you to enjoy. Besides, it’s a good opportunity for me to enter the heritage park for free! Normally there is a fee $30-40 for each entry.

An excellent tourist attraction for everyone particularly an exciting and exhilarating place for a family with children. The heritage park village, in the proximity to Bow river and a huge dock, consists of clean green lawns, paved walking trails, and attractive statues of various animals. It also has a train that take you around the park. There are lots of tables everywhere to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenic views and electrified visitors. Also there are shops and restaurants near the entrance where you can buy souvenirs or ice cream of your choice. I wish, the park has so much to offer, that it remained open until at least 8:00 pm in summer. Unfortunately, it closes at five, so the security guards start chasing people away from 4:30. Isn't 4:30 too early to wind up and send the enthusiastic people away in the long sunny days in Calgary?

It's an incredible place not to be missed on your visit to Calgary. The area has been kept like it jade been in the early 20th century and certain things have been added to raise the atmosphere of that period. You can easily spend the future day in the village as the place is huge. There is a train going around the village that you should not miss. Also, the half-hour horse ride where you will get to know the details of the place from the guide is very interesting. Make sure that you go here on a sunny day as you will be walking a lot outside.

For the last five years, my husband and I have been taking our grandchildren to Heritage park. They seem to always look forward to our visits and go out of their way to prepare lunch and their day pack. We love the staff their as they are friendly and keep the grounds clean. We hope to enjoy more quality family time here before they grow too old to take us.

Has something for everyone. If you love cars you have Gasoline Alley. If you love farming they have that. If you love trains they have a steam train and the train yard. If you love history you have that throughout. Got there early so it was quite and easy to see everything. Worth the visit and you will certainly learn something while there.

The Gasoline Alley was fantastic. If you love cars you will be amazed at all the different types over the years. Loved the train and boat rides. The shops and employees took you back in time with their dressing and mannerisms. Great fun was had. Worth spending a whole day :) The candy store was a kids dream! Filled with all the sweets you can think of. Employees were so helpful and kind. There is a lot to see and do. So I would recommend going early to get the full experience.

Really fantastic place to visit for any age. Lots of history and information and plenty of things to see and do so allow at least 4 hours I'd say. The staff are very friendly and helpful and full of information. The steam train ride is great to view the whole park and take a ride back in time.

Can't say enough good things about this place to be honest!! What an amazing way to spend an entire day. Please make sure you have ample time when you visit this place as there are just so many things to see. I went there about 1pm and hadn't explored half the park by 5pm. The train and buggy ride was really fun. The park is beautifully built with a lot of thought and attention to detail. I'm surely going to go back a second time to make sure I get to explore more of the park.

A step back in history!! The village is built with late 1800 buildings and furniture/implements . There is a steam train and boat ride along with a ride area for the kids. Galoline Alley has an excellent display of vintage vehicles, gas pumps, and signs....Go visit this place....you will enjoy it.

This a great place for a family or a group with kids to enjoy . It is suitable for adults too but has more activities for kids. It has presented the Canadian history very nicely . This is a large place which takes the entire day to cover. I recommend everyone to go early . Make sure you note down the train and ferry schedule . Recommend to complete train and ferry tours first and explore rest. Or during the later of the day there could be rushing.

An absolute must-see in Calgary! It is one of Canada's largest living history museums. Plan for a full day or two to be able to fully explore and enjoy the whole park. Make sure to ride the train and the paddle boat when you visit and listen to the stories and history lesson from the staff

Had a very enjoyable time. The only challenge for some of us older folks, its a very long walk from the parking lot down to the village now. Really enjoyed the train and the bakery is awesome as always.

This place is absolutely amazing, so much to see that we didn't even get a chance to explore everything , we should of arrived earlier. My kids loved loved this place! The rides were fun, the bakery is a must to stop at. The train and boat ride were incredible. There is something to see at every turn. Absolutely recommend this place and all the friendly people that work here.

Wow what a place to see. There's a vast landscape with lots of venues, sites and attractions. We spent lots of time exploring the historic buildings and riding the train which our little guy loves so much. Definitely recommend this place for families of all ages as well as for history buffs. Most of the displays have lots of historical information and there are volunteers who have great knowledge of their "department." We spent a whole day here with a 20 month old boy no problem.

A rare Canadian gas-powered motorised bicycle, which cost twice the price of a standard bicycle and retailed for $96 (back in 1949). Amazing 🚲to see modern-day eBikes having similar features. We also loved all the many antique vehicles in the Gasoline Alley Museum πŸ’–

Beautiful historical place. There are a couple stores that have a variety of souvenir type item as well as clothing and hair accessories, such as historical hats and cultural items too. There is a small Cafe and a really cool old car mesuem with an old gas station. Many people come here for walking or biking or to simply enjoy the breathtaking views of the water (and stunning sunsets). You will also see people kayaking, sailing, and just hanging out by the water. There are some free parking areas and paid parking as well. It's definitely a place for everyone in the family where you can also have a nice picnic, since there are benches (limited) too.

Such a great day out, even in the middle of winter! The buffet breakfast for 'Once Upon A Christmas' is simply the best buffet I've ever had, plus the staff are so friendly! Well worth the money. We've been going every year (except COVID in 2020 when it was closed) and we will continue to go as our family tradition.

It is a very nice place to visit with family and visitors from other provinces or countries. Very well preserved and kids have some much fun. The only thing I find is that it is a little bit pricey and they have lots of space to update, renovate and/or create something new. In my last visit, two attractions weren't available and there are the ones more fun for kids.

This was our first time visiting @heritageparkyyc and we absolutely loved everything starting from museum to riding steam train or walking down Front street to sitting near the lake . Fun for the family. Boat, train and horse drawn Carriage rides available in the park and also a handful of fun amusement rides for kids and adults alike. I would recommend people to go early as a single day is not enough to cover the entire park.

Fun spot for an amazing day out with the family. Lots of walking trail around the lake and most importantly the museum which is the centerstage if this site. There are a few restaurants, stores and lots of parking space. Must visit if you are in Calgary.

This park is one of my favourite places in Calgary. Rich in history. The only problem I have is that one of the staff members wasn’t pleasant but the other great staff members and the experience far outweigh the negatives. I’d definitely recommend coming here!

I love this place. It's quite the lovely place to walk around, and observe the past. We were at the Gunn's Dairy Farm for the Breakfast Buffet, it was amazing! Personally, my favorite place is the Stanford Standard - the history of the printers is just wow.

  • 5/5 Kimbus O. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely worth getting an annual pass for a repeated visit to this museum of historical memories. Watch out for ever ready guides who will give you a detailed run down of events that resulted in the space you occupy. From automobiles to Quilts. Remarkable occurrence throughout the ages

Went there today for a Day Out With Thomas with our toddler who lllloves Thomas. It is great event and definitely well spent $29.99/per person. Yes, of course we left with the bag full of Thomas toys, hat etc (another +/- $80) Staff were super polite and patient. All the bathrooms very clean. The only minus is food. You have a choice between deep fried onion rings that could kill the t-rex or hot dogs that made my husband sick. And of course super salty popcorn and all of the sweets: ice cream, donuts etc. The good thing was, food wasn't overpriced.

  • 5/5 Ibn A. 1 year ago on Google
The name reflects the realities of this place - a typical 1900 setting complete with historic buildings, post office, farmyards, coal mine, water turbine, windmill. A wonderful place to explore, walk and hike. Enjoy sitting out with the family and amusement park for the kids - ferries wheel, carousel, train and boat rides and other fun rides.

  • 5/5 Chad A. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing place for toddlers and up! Rides are included in day pass! Train ride, boat ride, animals, ferris and more to do plus all the exploring of buildings. There are a ton of options for food at a reasonable price. Kid can't wait to go back again!

I had low expectations before visiting. I thought this place just had a whole bunch of old cars, but they had way more attractions than this. The tour guides that work on site did an excellent job. The old houses were fun to go into and walk around and see all the old artifacts. It was neat to see how things in the West have changed over time. I didn't take our kids but if we did I bet they would have had a really fun time. We went out on the paddle boat which was really fun. I would definitely go back to this place.

  • 5/5 Jia C. 1 year ago on Google
Went for a family outing and the kids really liked it. We had 4 kids ranged from 2 to 8 and all of them found something age appropriate. It is nice the rides are included and they can ride as many times as they want. The line was reasonable, probably because it was a weekday.

  • 5/5 Christina L. 8 months ago on Google
This was my first time visiting and I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. It was amazing! If you love history and want to be submersed in the past, this is the place for you. Completely family friendly. Be prepared to come back as there's no way to see even a fraction of everything.

  • 5/5 Radu L. 4 months ago on Google
The park is an awesome idea, combining nice strolls in the open air, with historical exhibits, preserved or restored. Their summer and xmas markets are less busy than others around the city and its cool to hunt down all the locations throughout the park. the bakery is always busy, with long lines... they should really get extra staff and better distribution in nearby cafes and restaurants.

  • 5/5 Jewels L. 7 months ago on Google
Most of the park was closed by the time I arrived so I explored the lake and walked the trail to see if I could catch a good sunset which never came πŸ™ƒ I drove 6.5 hours the day before so needed a more low key day. The next time I am in the area, I definitely want to check it out when it's open. It looks like a pretty cool spot. There was clear bottom kayaks out in the water from a tour company also.

  • 4/5 Charles E. 6 months ago on Google
We visited during a weekday at the end of the season, when it was closed. This means we missed out on some of the immersion into history. Special arranges had been made for our group of 20 from Arizona! Thank you! The Guide was fantastic! She was enthusiastic, well versed in all of the details. This is a great place for imagining history!

We had our wedding at Heritage Park in August. It was absolutely stunning. So many great venues/photo locations. With covid, obviously things were a little different. But Heritage Park went above and beyond! They move our venue to accommodate our party and allow for extra distance, had sanitizing stations set up, stayed up to date with all the local regulations, and made sure everything went to plan! Food was excellent, Staff were phenomenal, venue was gorgeous. They were very organized and helped us every step of the way. There were so many amazing photo locations, especially by the water, so beautiful. The only thing to be aware of is that you don't have much time to set up. The park closes at 5:00pm and we could start setting up at 5:30pm and our ceremony started at 6:30pm. So it was a bit of a time crunch but overall it was a perfect day! (Updated to add photos)

Heritage Park has been around for ages and provides a very fun and enjoyable exerience to the past. Some of the main attractions include the full sized, real steam powered train, which you can take a ride on around the enture park. You can also take a trip to the midway which includes various different types of rides from the past, including a ferris wheel and carrousel. There is also a large paddle boat which takes you on a ride around the Glenmore Reservoir which is pretty fun. The best part about these attractions is that they are included in the price of your ticket and you don't have to pay extra to take advantage of them. The park also includes a bakery, candy store, black smith, etc, most of which are interactive. Overall, Heritage Park is a fun place to spend your time. Whether you have kids or not, there is something for everyone to enjoy. It is also the closest thing we will get to a time machine, as you can experience what life was like many years ago!

Heritage park is a local gem you can go to just spend time with your family and learn about the history of western Canada. During the summer you can go on the boat or kids rides, wagon rides or just walk around and take things at your own pace. The gasoline Alley museum has an amazing collection of vintage cars. Currently ( December 2020) both park and museum are closed. But you can still go to the retail shops, Harveys confectionery and the railway cafe. I highly recommend cinnamon buns, sausage buns and the gluten free muffins. They are so good. This is one of those local gems that anyone of any age, come in and find something that will suit them. Shopping? Done! local entertainment? the street plays and the Canmore opera House. history and local learning? absolutely! Ghost tours! Yep we got that too. Canadiana cuisine? The Selkirk. Buttertart? The park definitely has them. I love going there even during the off season, their Halloween and Christmas programs make the holidays seasons the absolute best!

This place is definitely worth a visit. There is an auto museum, historical village and amusement park all in one place. The amusement park is small but the lines weren't long and our kids loved them. The auto museum has a large collection of beautiful automobiles as well as gas pumps, signs, engines and other memorabilia. The historical village has several buildings that can be viewed many of which have staff dressed in period correct clothing functioning as they would have during the era. There are also several shops and a few restaurants and a cafe. You can easily spend the better part of a day here.

Fabulous living museum depicting the Canadian West between the late 1800s & early 1900s in period costume. Terrific bakery ...love the cinnamon buns. Steam train, old paddle wheeler, Ferris wheel, wagon rides, two town Centres and so much more. Lots of open space. Step back in time for at least a half a day.

Staying safe, while traveling through the past indeed! The overall experience at the village still hits the mark, despite Covid-19 restrictions. This comes down to excellent management and incredible staff. The villagers were always in character, and very accommodating for families. Cleanliness measures have been taken, and social distancing restrictions are fully enforced. If you are looking for a great outing during the Covid-19 era that keeps you and your family safe.. this is an excellent excursion.

I must say, this is quite the park for a family activity, history buff tour, or late century culture connoisseur. There seems to be new areas here for people to explore. I haven't been here for years and I must say it is refreshing to be back. The park is large enough that you could easily spend all day here. In addition, the staff is quite knowledgeable and deserve high praise for their knowledge and work. Definitely recommend.

I'm not a huge fan of tourist destinations but was visiting Calgary to see my 5 year old grandchild so if course went along for the fun. If you live in Calgary and whether you have children or not this is a must. My daughter decided to apply what she paid for 4 of us that day to a yearly pass as we were leaving. So worth it! It's pricey but once you get inside everything except food is free. In summer bring a picnic as the selection of grab and go food isn't great. They do have some dine-in restaurants but we thought too much time would be wasted with a 5 year old. The small midway is delightful with 100 year old rides with fantastic story boards. After spending 4+ hours there I was ready to go back the next day to explore more. Well done Heritage Park!

  • 5/5 Virgilio II M. 3 years ago on Google
We visited Heritage Park almost end of summer season. Despite the current pandemic, the management and staff have proper protocols in place. As an example, all rides prior to having someone get on board needs to be cleaned and sanitize first. Staff are very friendly, the place is clean and well maintained even if there are construction within the vicinity.

Just went once to visit the park, it's a very nice park with all the buildings and stuff, the people are very motivated. But I have to say english isn't my first language and it's a large park so I'll definitely go a second time.(I can't wait for it :))

Great place to explore and just take a step back into history. Love the fact that there are interpretive actors who play authentic historical roles and explain certain aspects that are not common to our current lives. This place is a treasure.

Awesome historic park. Nothing like this place anywhere else in western Canada. Friendly staff and and you can't beat their Gasoline alley. Love the old gas pumps.

Cool spot. Lots of historical significance in the attractions here. The places seems to be under constant construction every year. This year we went for the Halloween event. Was fun just to walk around, but definitely made for the kids, which is good.
