Fantastic off-leash park with a lot of space, including down by the water. If you have a dog like mine who doesn’t care for fetch very much, this park has a lot for your pup to explore and sniff.

This park is shimi_omaichi approved. Our most favorite dog park. It needs no introduction. Massive area with things to do for pretty much every type of dog owners. Highly recommend

I’m a 24/7/365 dog walker. In the last 10 years, I’ve been here thousands of times and always love bringing the dogs here. Loads of different trails to switch it up so things aren’t monotonous. Take the dogs swimming in the river to cool off on a hot day. Can’t say enough about this park!

Large park, fully fenced in with dog friendly access to the water at a slow rocky bend in the river. Large off leash areas and a paved walk / bike trail that is for dogs on a leash. A large parking lot, easy to get to from the #2 hwy.

This is the dog park of all dog parks ! Not only are the trails beautiful and lovely to walk there are 3 separate areas for dogs to go swimming ! My dogs absolutely love it and once they're in the water to I can't get them out! My dogs love to go for a swim and then run off all their wetness on the trails back to the parking lot. Absolutely LOVE this place !

What a great place to just let your dog roam free and wild! Secure gates ensure your pet is always safe and secure within the confines of the park. I let my Lab Ruby run free here for the first time, she had a blast! She always had a huge smile on her face and the other dogs were well behaved. If it's summer time and it's hot outside, let your dog run in the river and cool off. 😎 A great place to stretch your legs as well! We will be going back for sure. 10☆ !

My pups live to visit this park once in a while. To many pups running out of control when it is busy. We enjoy the off hours when it is quieter and we can have fun with less of a crowd.

Fully fenced park with lots of space. Water access at a few points too. Relatively clean compared to a lot of other parks out there but nowhere is perfect

My first visit to this amazing park is going to be one of the favourite memories with my fur baby. Patrons in the park with their furry friends and families were very nice too. I loved the idea of secure area, so no mishaps can happen. Only thing I felt missing was detailed map of the park so someone like me who goes there for first time. They can easily navigate around. I am sure there is one or two for that size of the park. I might have missed it.

Lots of options for dogs to run or play around as it was a very spacious park. There’s even few trails if you prefer that.

I brought my dog here today for the first time and it was amazing. Friendly owners with well behaved pooches. I hope to see the lake next time we visit. Parts are a bit dusty, bur hey, that's Calgary in the summer!

This is such a fantastic place to bring your dog for a walk and much needed socialization. Absolutely love this place and thank the city for providing this space for walker and dogs. Having access to the river for a swim is awesome too, especially after discovering the only mud in the park.

Love this park and so does Duchess! It’s huge and has lots of river access points for the pups to swim. There are even small fenced off areas with picnic tables to have some lunch and zones for the small dogs who need their own space. There is a large parking lot right off of Southland drive or you can park at Carburn park and walk across the river. There is usually a breeze because it’s right a long the highway but it still gets pretty hot in the summer so make sure to bring a hat!

Anyone with a puppy or dog... will love this place. My Wiggle butt is always happy to play with the other dogs at the park. It's a huge place, and different areas where you can take your 4 legged pal. Highly recommend for your furry best buddy!!

Great place for a walk, you have access to a very large walking area for dogs and even access to the river. Its connected to the other side of the river by a cite bridge. Thw other side is not an off-leash dog area

We love coming to Sue Higgins off leash park! It is busy during peak times (weekends) but if u arrive first thing its not too bad or if you can go non-peak hours its less busy. We have only had good experiences so far. My dogs think the more dogs the better! So much space, various walking routes, multiple fenced in areas to separate off. If u cross some of the paths there are multiple places that dogs have access to water. Such a cool park- wish we had more like this in NE Calgary

Nice huge park to take your dog for a walk. Love that you can access the river so your dog can go for a swim (there are shallow and deep areas depending on where you go). Do note that it is mainly dirt pathways so your dog will probably get pretty dirty after a swim.

This is my favorite park in the city. I love how big it is and that they are starting to plant more trees. It is well kept, clean and very big so the dogs can have some fun. There are also river spots and moguls if you are teaching your dog show tricks.

Huge fenced-in park, with many trails and a variety of sceneries. Beautiful doggy beaches for the pups to swim.

This place is doggie heaven. Lots of beach and wide open spaces for dogs to play. Lovely people too!

Good place with dogs. But, it could be a boring place for some people. We should remind it is a dog park. For them, it will be nice.

Ozzie loves to play with other dogs. The wide open spaces give him lots of opportunity to run and play. Wish the city had more fenced dog parks like this !

Great place to socialize your dog, young or old. Great pet owners who keep an eye on their dogs but as always there a few who aren't aware or care, also I've seen people not picking up after their dogs. These people are few and majority are great.

I have always really enjoyed taking my dogs to Sue Higgins dog park. It was a beautiful open space to let them sniff and run around. I prefer the north side as it is usually less busy and I can keep track of my dog better as we continue to work on her recall.

Absolutely the best off leash dog park I have ever been to! The majority of the dogs were well behaved and under control, same can be said of the dog owners lol. We always have a great time when we go here my 10 year old daughter enjoys the other dogs and the beautiful long walks, it is always one of the highlights to our weekend's together. Of course my dog loves it she is always sure to get at least one swim in the river in everytime we go. Check it out you won't be sorry!

Beautiful fenced in park. Highly recommend taking your dogs here. There is a bike path outside the dog park and the park itself is huge.

Lovely place if you've got a water dog that likes to fetch. There is an area where dogs can swim far without the current being too strong. I do recommend that you bring your dog a floaty toy. Too often, dog parents won't bring their fur kids a toy and they try stealing other dogs' toys. I've seen several fights break out in the river areas because of this.

Great place for dogs. Plenty of space and completely fenced in. Little areas off the main big “pen” for dogs to segregate and meet other dogs without being too overwhelmed by all the dogs in the main area. Would bringing your pup out if they love to run!

Fantastic place to take your pups!! Ample space, very friendly pup owners and pups, been going for a few years now and no issues. There is a few paths that lead to the river: one is deeper and the other has a huge shallow area. A few things to keep in mind: Parking lot tends to get full fast so plan ahead or park on the way in. There is a bike path you need to cross with pups to get to the river. Bring poop bags! Have a blast!!! There's a lot of room including a few fenced spots.

Its fenced! No escape for pups. Though, if they swim...thats the only way you loose them. If you don't go to the river, it's completely safe they can ran, smell, play to their hearts content. Though I suggest if you do bring them, make sure they are vaccinated. There was kennel caugh going around in fall of 2020. It's like a children's playground...1 is sick, people in contact gets it too. It's a great place to take your pups. And there's port-a potties too if you need to go.

This park is gigantic and has so many different areas for your dog to explore and play! Our pup is not a swimmer but she loves playing in the river with other dogs and explore the paths along the river. There is tons of parking and great trails for walking with your pup! Most of the dogs are super well behaved and I know our pup gets lots of exercise and is usually super tired by the time we get home! This place is amazing!

Nice spot for dogs and their owners. The dogs seem to especially enjoy the small hills they can run up and down on. Good large space. Close to the river. Good gates. Portable bathrooms are adjacent to parking lot.

Pretty nice dog park and usually pretty busy! Nice area that's let's out onto a beach

This huge park is a favourite place of ours to walk and enjoy the various breeds of dogs (and people...haha!). What's been amazing to see up until a few weeks ago are the two majestic Bald Eagles that perch in the trees at the north end of the park. Even through the freezing temperatures we experienced, they'd be perched side by side or on separate trees, or we'd only see one. You can see these great raptors from Deerfoot Trail.
