We stayed here one night to have dinner with friends downtown and then attend a hockey game at The Saddledome. It was a very convenient location for both. The decor was nice and chic and the front desk staff were warm and welcoming. The room was comfortable and we slept well in the bed. It was clean and they provide bathroom amenities like lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. I’d definitely stay again!

The staff are incredibly good, and as a corporate travel planner - they make my life so much easier when I book travel for others. Great corporate rates, and attentive service. The rooms are beautiful, and very clean. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for corporate stays.

This hotel is trendy and right next to the river with walk ways and a dog park. We took our pups it was comfortable close to amenities .the rooms are chic the bed was comfy but what made our stay was the staff they were AMAZING!!! The front desk we dealt with was so helpful and kind. We will definitely back next time we’re in Calgary.

Highly recommend going to this hotel! I live in Calgary but still have stayed here and I recommend it to anyone coming into town! It’s very clean, and stylish. The staff is very friendly, and the prices are VERY affordable! If you stay here, you’ve gotta check out the restaurant Nupo that’s in the building for the best sushi.

Stayed only one night, attending a wedding across the street at CharBar. Concierge actually volunteered and carried a very large wedding gift across the street, into the restaurant and up the stairs to the wedding reception. Service is above and beyond what I realistically expect to receive at any hotel. Props to the entire staff at Alt Hotel. Definitely a memorable experience. Thanks for making our brief visit so special!

This place exceeded my expectations. The price of the room was well below what I would have expected to pay for a king size bed in a location so close to the downtown core. The room was compact and well laid out. I personally loved the touch panel for thermostat and light control that were placed through the room. The rainfall shower was fantastic! And don't get my started on the Canadian made down comforter and pillows! They had a couple of amenities on site that I did not use but if they were as great as the rest of the hotel well, I have no doubt that I would not have been disappointed.

We loved how modern and stylish our room was, we felt like we were staying in a fancy hotel with a cheaper cost. They even had blackout curtains, which we LOVED! We couldn’t use the underground parking with our truck as it had a height limit of 6’8 but there was free street parking (on weekends) and $4 parking lot right beside the hotel. I would say the only thing our room was missing was a fridge, and it would be cool if hotels started putting a Bluetooth speaker as a bonus amenity so us girls can set the vibe when we’re getting ready for a night out! Overall our stay was great and we will definitely be staying here again!

My sister and I stayed here this weekend for Country Thunder, it’s a quick walk to Fort Calgary. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and so modern, we had a great view of the Bow River. The staff is so friendly and helpful! There are many restaurants and things within walking distance. We already booked for next year for Country Thunder again, thanks for a great weekend!

The location is awesome. The room was clean upon arrival, the bed was comfy, the rain shower is a nice feature. We booked river view and had a wonderful view. We stayed two nights. We put the light on that requests for our room to be made up, and left our room the first day around 11. We came back at 2 to rest, but the room hadn't been cleaned yet. No worries, though, the light is on and the cleaning lady is in the room across the hall. We'll go back out for a few hours. Unfortunately, it still wasn't clean at 630 when we came back. We asked the front desk staff and this was the conversation. Us: Our room wasn't cleaned today. Can someone be sent to clean it? Him: I can send up towels or whatever you need. Us: Okay... can the bed be made? Him: Unfortunately, I don't think I have anyone here that can make it. Us: Ahh bummer. Why wasn't the room made up? Him: It's one of those things that's been tough with covid. Us: So...rooms aren't being cleaned during the stays? Him: it's been tough with covid. Us: you haven't really answered the question... Him: uh.. well. If you had left the room for four hours straight AND asked us at the front desk, we could have had it done. Us: oh.... so the policy right now is we have to ask or it won't be done? Him: That's kind of the default, yeah. Sorry if no one told you that when you checked in. I'll let... whoever checked you in know. I understand this is a first world problem. But we booked a hotel over a really beautiful B&B because we wanted the benefits of a hotel - like cleaning and bed making. No one told us at any point that it had to be requested. At the time of this review and our stay, there are ZERO covid restrictions in the province, so it's surprising that they wouldn't be cleaning rooms. But, if they're not, it should be made clear AND he should have been transparent. This is the policy. I'm sorry you weren't informed. He really just tried to avoid any conversation and to dismiss us. Maybe it was a long day, maybe he's tired of the situation and the changing policies and the questions, or maybe we interrupted the conversation he was having with the two other employees standing behind the desk. In any case, it was not good customer service.

We spent two nights at this lovely hotel and would’ve loved to stay longer. The staff were wonderfully friendly and helpful, the bedrooms beautifully designed and the beds super comfy. We had great views of the river from our corner room and the hotel is just a short walk from Downtown in one direction and funky Inglewood in the other. Highly recommended.

Nice rooms, the one I had a river view. The room has touch panel to control the AC, blinds, lights. It had a table and a revolving chair to work. Staff is nice and helpful. Room has a coffee maker. There is no kitchen in the hotel however there are two restaurants in the lobby and few more nearby . The lobby area has a pool table and few snack items for sale.

Incredible price for a new and stylish hotel! Front desk staff were friendly, rooms were clean, I have no complaints. They had nespresso machines in the rooms which was a nice touch. Trendy restaurants inside the hotel and it’s in a newly developed, nice area.

  • 5/5 Rich C. 1 year ago on Google
This place was really fantastic, but the room was pretty small. Functional, well equipped, clean, Nespresso, everything you need. However, there's little room to move other than functional moves. The drain in my shower drained very slowly as well, shorting any long showers. That's the only reason a four was scored on the room. Had there been two of us in there, I know the choices would have been bed, toilet or chair, but no moving around. I'm 6' about 200 lbs and athletic, but not a monster. Everything else, really nice

After a long gruelling night in the airport of delayed and cancelled flights I phoned many hotels and the Alt hotel was the first hotel with vacancy - and I’m so glad they were! We were warmly greeted in the middle of the night and the gentleman was so patient and friendly. The room exceeded our expectations, it didn’t have a fridge but I found out later you can request one (we didn’t need one so we never fulfilled that). And due to flight changes they happily let us change our checkout with no extra fee given our circumstance. Lovely and very friendly staff, excellent warm and very comfortable rooms with a lot of toiletries (which we needed as ours were stuck in the airport in our suitcases) I will happily come visit this location as it was so pleasant, or any of there any locations in the future. Thank you for taking such great care of my partner and I!

Really nice hotel! Always love staying at the Alt. We booked directly through the hotel and we’re gifted with some local honey which was a nice touch. Check in was easy and we were able to check in early. Room was beautiful with a nice view from the 10th floor. Loved casting Netflix to the TV before bed. Pool table in the lobby was cool. Only issues was the shower wasn’t draining properly but they fixed it right away. They also don’t have robes which was surprising. Overall great hotel, close to a nice coffee shop and easy to walk around. Will definitely stay again!

Loved our stay at this trendy, clean, great location, friendly boutique hotel in Calgary . Would definitely recommend to others and will be back again! The only thing missing is a jacuzzi tub and a steam room to complete the experience! I must mention the amazing breakfast place located in the hotel! It was fantastic! The food was yummy! The avocado toast is to die for! And the service was friendly and amazing! Loved it! Thanks Alt Hotel!

This is a great hotel with a wonderful view and fantastic location. The on site restaurant NUPA was absolutely phenomenal. The design of the room with the large entry hallway made it very quiet, we heard little to no noise from other rooms. There is lots to do in the area. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

I booked a stay with this hotel for a west sales conference and was 100% pleased with the service, amenities, and price! If you’re looking for a modern room, stunning views, and downtown location you’re definitely in the right place. I’d recommend this to any of my family, colleagues, etc…

Hotel itself is absolutely a recommendation, nice staff, fairly sized rooms and a parking directly below. The only downside has nothing to do with the hotel itself; the eastern side of Calgary has quite some homeless people, due to the rehab/shelter in the area, this can make the walk back a bit uncomfortable although we were never bothered by any of them.

Modern, clean and friendly hotel, in a great location close to the Bow River and easily walkable to downtown and the more attractive Inglewood neighbourhood. Our room was not huge, but it had everything we needed. The floor to ceiling windows let in loads of natural light and gave us beautiful views of the river. As another reviewer mentions, the blinds do gape and let light in as the sun rises, but this was easily fixed by placing a small item at the bottom to hold the blinds tightly closed. The fitness centre was small but well equipped and the views out on to the street with lots of dogs passing by to the local park made the workout go quickly. There is 24 hour access and we never saw anyone else in there. Service was very good, especially superstar Jay on the front desk who was so friendly and helpful. We arrived an hour before check in time but thankfully our room was ready so we were able to get access straight away. The exceptionally comfortable bed meant that we end up crashing out mid afternoon after our long flight and didn't wake until the next morning, so didn't do much with our first day in Calgary! We had one small issue when staying, which the person at the front desk at that time wasn't very sympathetic about but the general manager has since been in touch with us and I'm very happy with the outcome.

We were in Calgary for a Canucks game (and won!) so wanted to stay within walking distance of the Saddledome. It's totally doable and we had no safety concerns. Hotel itself was a great value for what we paid, with a very modern feel. We really enjoyed our river view room. Super comfy bed and incredible pillows - I slept like the dead. Friendly service, super clean, no notes. Would happily return.

Hotel was really nice. Room was top notch, we had a corner view. It was well spec'd out. Good finish and nice modern finish. Very comfortable. The adjoining restaurant/cafe was decent. The area it's in feels very gentrified. City seems to have a massive homelessness problem.

I can’t give 5 stars. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and the hotel is very clean. But the rooms are quite small, when we “ upgraded “ our room, it was exactly the same footprint but now included an extremely small bar fridge. We found the wifi incredibly slow so we didn’t use it. The room is very modern, with European styling . But,the shower door design is poor and leaks a fair bit of water. And the really cool electric blinds leave a 4” gap of sunlight at 5 am. The parking lot is a gravel lot across the street. The underground parking that is attached to the hotel is crazy expensive and the staff told us the underground parking wasn’t safe!

Definitely a gem of a hotel; chic’ & contemporary, located in the heart of East Village in Calgary. You really can’t beat the location, steps away from the river and a quick scooter ride into Inglewood. Rooms are clean and quaint, and the views of the city are amazing. The best part, overall, though, was the service. The staff are very friendly, accommodating, and responsive! Would 100% stay again.

We had really bad experience at Calgary this year. Fortunatelly the Staff at the hotel made our canadian trip a little better - especially Vadym at the reception. Very helpful pal and made us smile a lot. We had great talk with him and he recommended us a lot of places to go. Rooms were quite okay - as in 3 star hotel. Clean and neat. Probably we are going to be back someday :)

  • 4/5 Kendra M. 10 months ago on Google
The location of this hotel is fantastic and it is very clean and aesthetically appealing. However, the blinds do not fit properly and light starts shining directly into your eyes at 5:30am, which is a bit of an annoyance and we found the pillows very flat. Both very small issues in the grand scheme of things and we enjoyed our stay overall - will just make sure to bring a sleeping mask and our own pillows if we come back for another stay. :) It is a bit pricey but I guess that is expected downtown Calgary.

Hip hotel located downtown Calgary near the Bow River. Great location for those travelling for work, with coffee shops and restos in the area, as well as a walking path along the river. 20 minute walk from the downtown core. Rooms were compact but clean and inviting with trendy decor. Decent desk space for working, hotel also has ample room on second floor for seating/working etc. bathroom was great and two shower heads a plus!

I have been a customer at Alt Hotel Calgary East Village for 3 years now and I have also stayed at their other Alt locations across Canada. The Calgary East Village location has been my go to for staycations when I need that getaway where I can easily walk to the river to a walk or to grab food at the Simmons Building across the street where you can grab coffee, breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff go above and beyond in their service and the rooms are top notch in their quality of amenities and cleanliness. This is the best hotel to stay in while visiting Calgary. You are a few minutes walk from major attractions that easily accessible by the c-train Free Fare zone and to many close by neighborhoods such as Inglewood and Bridgeland. East village in itself is quite and safe. I love booking a corner room on the 10th floor where you get a gorgeous view of either the riverside or the downtown skyscrapers. Alt is definitely home away from home.

Sparkling clean modern hotel two minutes walk from the Bow River in Calgary's East Village. Easy access to the riverfront trails for walking and running. Quick walk into downtown Calgary. Comfortable beds and the best coffee is right across the street at Phil and Sebastian's. Very pleasant staff too.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 weeks while visiting Calgary. The hotel is new and very clean. Service is kind and friendly. We had a corner room and it was good, I imagine the regular rooms are rather small. No fridge or safe in the rooms, however we were able to have a fridge upon request with GM Nadia who was super helpful and provided great service to our needs. Location is excellent, lots of entertainment, walking, shopping etc. Lovely river views as well.

Rob is the best! He gave great information regarding the hotel and the city. It was so good we decided to extend our stay one more night, last minute decision :). The hotel is really new, pool table in the lobby is awesome, the room is just spotless and the bed is extremely comfortable. All the employees we met are over the top service and friendly. I would definitely recommend all my friends to this hotel.

First time staying at the Alt Hotel. The gentleman at the concierge was fantastic, shout out to Rob! We will definitely be staying at the Alt Hotel because of Rob! He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us all the details and had great suggestions for restaurants near by! The rooms were very European and had an awesome touch screen which controlled all lights, blinds, etc, in the room.

The first room we got didn't get inspected for cleanliness thoroughly but we got a replacement room without a fuss. Rooms are comfortable and look pretty modern.

Great service and accommodation. Really close to the Calgary zoo allowing for easy travel back to the hotel. Has both riverside and downtown views and is pet friendly. Would definitely love to stay there again.

Service was great. Greeted by staff upon entry and exit of hotel. Room was a little small, but we didn't mind at all as it was all we needed. Clean. Comfy bed. Shampoo and soap are not great. No fridge in the room. Loved the location of the hotel. Right by the river, close to downtown but not in the core. You don't get the craziness in the downtown core. You can go for walks right outside the hotel, cross the bridge for more. There is a dog park, playground and community garden as well. Few minutes walk and you can get baked goods, coffee and rent a Segway. There is a parking lot and street parking right outside the hotel. I chose not to use the underground parking lot, which would've been $21 on weekdays and $11 weekend. Since I am out and about most of the day, at most i paid $4 a day. 2 restaurants on the main floor. You can also buy drinks and snacks on the main floor. Will definitely come back the next time I am in town.

I had a great experience at Alt hotel! The staff was kind and even put together a small birthday gift for me at my arrival! My room was facing the river view and I loved it, and they even gave me an extended check out! Thank you Alt for making my weekend special!

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel and rooms have a very clean, modern, European staff. The staff went above and beyond to help us. We had requested a high floor room which was accommodated. After arrival, we had asked if there was a fridge we could store some things in and they had a mini fridge brought up for our room. The underground parking is a fair price and would recommend taking advantage of it because it's so convenient. We will definitely be back any time we are in the Calgary area!

  • 5/5 Emma L. 2 years ago on Google
Great modern hotel with clean and well decorated rooms. The bed was super comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. It's in a good location for exploring Calgary and within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to go. The only thing missing is a fridge but we were able to request one for the room. We enjoyed it so much that we came back again at the end of our road trip.

OUTSTANDING! I am here for 4 days and can't not say enough good things about this hotel. It is VERY clean and the rooms are smaller which is absolutely perfect and about time hotels considered the size of the rooms, why does a traveller need such a big room. The area is beautiful being so close to the Bow River. The East Village is becoming quite the hot spot. Do walk around the neighbourhood.

I entered the hotel in July, 2022 and was immediately asked for ID to prove my payment was legitimate from a young French speaking girl with brown or blond hair. I complied and let her know I am a customer of Le Germain, under the same ownership. She told me ID was protocol and that it is something asked from all customers. I went to my room. There was no fridge and no fulfillment on my room requests, which was fine as it was a busy time during stampede. I phoned down and asked for a fridge. The young English speaking Francophone told me there was nothing they could do, Wasn’t overly pleasant, but said I may be able to store my items that needed refrigeration somewhere in the lobby. I went down and watched her take payment from a couple. No ID requested on payment. I mentioned to another person who turned out to be the manager how interesting how inconsistent there policy is around demanding ID for credit card payment. The manager told me that they were repeat customers, which was clearly untrue as the customers had no idea where parking was. I laughed it off, but was quite offended. And realized The young Francophone girl and the manager were probably not going to be helpful… so I went back to my room … I called back to the lobby from my room and asked for a fridge again. The girl told me there was nothing they could do. I called back again in 10 minutes, and spoke to a really great person named Maxwell. He apologized that the room did not have a fridge in my room but went above and beyond to have a portable fridge delivered to my room. Maxwell went above and beyond and I requested from the manager his outstanding customer service be recognized, which I was assured would happen. The manager told me he called the GM personally to let him know about my glowing review towards Maxwell’s customer service skills. I hope this happened but am Not sure due to the earlier dishonestly covering up the abysmal customer service skills of the initial Francophone employee I dealt with who demanded my ID on credit card payment and provided extremely substandard service to me thereafter, at the very best. Maxwell was outstanding, and I hope His customer service skills are Recognized, appreciated, and mimicked by other staff.

A very up-to-date hotel with quite nice rooms with views of the river parking available right underneath

  • 2/5 Amanda P. 2 years ago on Google
My partner booked a surprise stay there for my birthday. The room was nice but the place lacks good amenities. The breakfast restaurant is just ok, however overpriced. No mini fridge and microwave in room. When I inquired why, the front desk associate responded: “This is how management promotes selling the hotel snacks instead.” Even basic motels have mini fridges so… pretty disappointing. Parking is not included with the room which is another inconvenience.

Went to get a coffee from the coffee shop they have. Over priced hot burnt milk. It cost more than my starbucks and had zero flavour. Only redeeming quality was the staff where extremely nice polite and friendly

We hosted our corporate retreat in Calgary this year, and worked with Alt to create a great experience for our guests. The service from their staff is unlike anything you've experienced, the team know your name, and the caliber of service is top notch. The rooms are beautiful, and considering the price exceed all expectations. We were most impressed by the meeting spaces on the second floor, and how well thought out it was. The windows and natural light are beautiful and really help keep people engaged and awake, even for early breakfasts. Alt hotel has connections with Char-bar and some other high end restaurants in the east village. As they are owned by the same parent company this made billing easy for our group - having everything billed back to the hotel on one invoice for payment. Ivan (Alt Sales Manager) is spectacular and went above and beyond to make our event work. We couldn't be happier, and would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is in need of modern amenities at reasonable prices.

Superb! Had great time playing billiard, excellent location, we had a river view room, just stunning. Staff indeed were very friendly! I am giving 5 stars regardless , but the washroom could have used better cleaning, and the rooms are really small. Having that said, it was so modern and tech operated to whole different level! I loved our stay :)

Perfect overnight stay in Calgary. Great location at the heart of the East Village. Awesome spot to base ahead of going for a walk along the River. A short walk to the awesome Char Bar which is the best spot for brunch you could ever hope to find. Friendly service. Couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable stay in Calgary ahead of a flight. Alt Hotel is the black building on the right-hand side of the photo.
