Great little fish store. Staff is awesome and knowledgeable. Decent selection of freshwater and a small amount of salt water. Very beautiful Flowerhorn in there just sweet. Prices were just right too ...on most things. One of the staff went into a aquarium package deal to get us a pump from it to help us out he said"ill just reorder the pump and put it back in when it arrives we don't want you going without a pump" opposite of my Pisces review even though Pisces had plenty of aquarium pack to get one from we walked out empty handed. Thanks Fin Gallery you rock!!!!!

Cons: some of the tanks were seriously disgusting, especially the little betta tanks. I felt so sorry for those bettas to the point I almost said something to the staff. Store is super small and crammed to the brim with tanks and supplies, not much room to move around.

Fin Gallery is the best place to purchase fish in the city, hands down. They get in such an amazing selection of fish, and I've found some really cool fish here that you can't get anywhere else. We're talking ultra rare fish that many places in Canada don't even get. Every time I come in here, there is always something new and exciting that I haven't seen before. The stock here has always been really healthy, and I've rarely had any issues. Pisces has been horrible in recent years with sick and diseased fish, and therefore I only buy fish from Fin. This is a huge plus for me, I can trust their stock, and the deaths I've had from here is close to 0. Wayne (the owner) is a nice guy and very knowledgeable as well. He also hires some very nice staff members, who love to just chat about fish, and will answer any questions that you have, or to just talk about tanks and the love of the hobby. I've always had great service here. I HIGHLY recommend this place. It is the premier location in the city for fish.

Amazing store. Also Jimmy, the owner is fantastic. All the staff is really. We are just starting out with our fish journey and he has been so great letting us know exactly what to do and where to start. Step by step we are going to build a beautiful aquarium.

High quality fish, huge selection and very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Prices on some fish are a bit higher than other stores but in my experience they are healthier and higher quality. This is the only store I will buy fish from. My only complaint would be that they should know better than to sell those tiny half gallon or 1 gallon betta tanks. These tanks are inappropriate for any fish to be housed in, and they should not be promoting or selling such inhumane tanks.

Fin Gallery is an amazing aquatic supply store. Went there as I wasn’t able to locate any Ototinculus, or Amano shrimp within the city so I googled other stores (Pisces is just simply too far) and Fin-Gallery popped up so I decided to give them a shot. Went in - and immediately was helped the second I stepped foot in the door. He helped me locate all the fish I was looking for, and offered me suggestions on line of sight breakup fish for a female betta sorority. Professional advice, great prices, all the fish in the tanks looked super healthy and responsive. I will keep coming back to this place. Also purchased 2 more female bettas from him (crowntail and veiltail) and they’re simply amazing.

Wonderful customer service - patient and kind, which is a big deal to a first-time fish owner. He really put my mind at ease about things I was stressing over, and I came to realize I can trust these people. Also, very good pricing. Thank you Fin Gallery.

Although the shop isn’t as open/large, it still contains loads of variety of beautiful fishes that are well kept by the amazing workers. I strolled In by today surprised as what I’d been seeing in the internet is what I’ve saw in those aquariums today. The workers were incredibly helpful, funny, knowledgeable and their interest in this type of hobby seemed so genuine and true which makes this place pop out and is why this place deserves a 5 star and a customer who leaves the store with a purchase.

My son really wanted fish for his birthday and we didn’t have any idea about the hobby, but we are so happy we came across this store. They really care about the fish and sold us a tank and aquatic plants and told us that we would have to wait until our tank was established before purchasing any fish. They even suggested that we bring in water samples for them to test to make sure that the water quality was optimal for the fish. After we had the tank up and running and our water samples passed the test, then we got the green light to purchase fish. I was really impressed that they cared so much for the fish that they wanted to make sure that our tank was established and that the water was good before we took any home. Once my son got to pick out fish, the staff were extremely patient and kind with answering all his questions and making sure that he knew which fish could live together peacefully so that he wouldn’t have any issues. Over a year and a half later, my son’s fish are thriving and he has learned so much from the folks at Fin Gallery every time we have gone there. I would highly recommend checking them out for al your fish needs.

As a new person who joined the hobby last year, the people at Fin Gallery have been very helpful getting me started with the right equipment and advice. They carry quality brands, not the cheap stuff that breaks within a month. Every time I visit, I see new and interesting species of fresh or saltwater fish of all sizes. Lots of non-fish too. New management practices are bringing the prices down and the last few sales they've had were awesome. If you are a fish keeper, I think it's worth checking them out.

Staff is super excited to help you find new fish friends or diagnose aquarium issues. The store is small and a bit crammed but they have a lot of variety you won't find at other pet stores

Today I checked out Fin Gallery fish store and I me the owner who showed amazing customer service and even waited for me to come by half hour after he closed for the day!! He even offered me a drink from his restaurant upstairs! Nothing but positive experience from Fin Gallery and definitely coming back. Folks it's worth the time to go there and see their variety selection of fresh and salt water fish as well as their dry products!

This place has such a great selection of fresh and saltwater fish. I’ve kept tetras, bettas, glo fish, danios, etc. basically all common freshwater fish, and the ones I get from here tend to be healthier and live longer than other pet stores. Their betta selection is unmatched, and I found my favourite little koi betta here. The staff are also very helpful, especially when one of my bettas was sick and I was looking for medication for him. You can tell they care about the fish. I’ve only seen dead fish floating around the tanks during one visit here, but every other time this place was pristine. Such a cool hidden gem downtown.

Great selection but risk of sick fish... Usual trade off quantity over quality not unlike Riverfront. Love the selection but comes at a cost fortunately I have a UV sterilizer on my tank so the infected fish only affected a few others. Other shops like Francos have a lower rating probably because of limited selection but I've never had a sick fish from Franco's. I stocked my tank with 30 fish from Franco's and around 20 from Fin Gallery. Lost over half of the fish from Fin Gallery. A number of them developed ulcers in the first two weeks and died. And several more developed fungal infections in the same window and died. I lost a couple from the Franco's fish due to fungus infections after the last of the infected fish from Fin Gallery died. I purchased the fish from Franco's two weeks before the fish from Fin Gallery. So I am confident where the infections came from🤘🤘 Awesome selection though🤘🤘

Owner is super nice, very knowledgeable and patient. Bought equipment and plants from there, the plans are great and healthy. Waiting on some new fish to come in, excited to shop there again in the near future! Prices a slightly pricer than pet stores, but for the quality I am okay with it. :)

We've been there twice now and intend on shifting most of our shopping for supplies to here. Honest, caring ownership and prices are pretty much on par with the big chain stores. So why travel to here if a Pet-Whatever store is closer? Simple: healthy fish and honest advice.

this store is genuinely the dirtiest, most disgusting aquatics store i’ve ever been in. i had read the bad reviews before going, but since it was such a mix bag of reviews, thought i’d check this store out for myself. the bad reviews are right. every single tank is over-run with snails (whether labelled or not). the shrimp tanks are labelled with certain colours on each (also at 2-3x the cost of anywhere else), but were all mixed in together and not separated by colour like the tanks actually suggest. the filters were literally growing things, and the tanks were disgusting, unkept, and looked like they had never been cleaned before. and every single ammonia detector that we saw in the tanks was in the alert zone, as well. even the tanks used for housing aquatic plants were gross. all the plants look diseased or dying, all damaged. i’d be scared of what was hitching a ride on anything bought from this store - pests, parasites, who knows? i genuinely felt gross after leaving this store, and i can’t imagine how this guy can claim on the bad reviews that he has a vet come and check his livestock weekly. no half-decent reputable vet would ever say that the conditions of any of the tanks in this store are okay.

We've been here a few times already and always leave with such helpful information from their knowledgable staff! Although the store is smaller than others, their quality and service is the reason why this will always be our go to fish store.

Love this place! Bought my 10-gallon tank from them a little over 2 years ago, and they have helped me every step of the way. I would not buy my plants or fish or supplies from anyone else. This is a hard-working small business, with very nice knowledgeable staff. The bonus is that it's downtown for easy access for local residents.

Even though the store may seem cramped at first, the variety is amazing. Also, the store owner is friendly and was very helpful when I purchased my first aquarium that sparked this wonderful hobby last year. I saw another comment regarding the visual cleanliness of the tanks, and while I agree that it could be better, it's only an aesthetic difference, and the fish are perfectly fine. The prices are a bit steeper, but it's expected due to the location and variety of the stock

Fin Gallery was great, John was super friendly and knowledgeable. Although the store is small, it can be deceiving because they have a ton of variety. All the fish i saw and purchased were very healthy, beautiful, and active. If you want fish or plants that are healthy, hard to find and unique, Fin gallery is one of the best places in the city to get them.

Was in Fin Gallery today and met Jimmy, he is fantastic. I have been a Fin Gallery customer for years, fish are healthy and kept in great care especially for store standards. His Betta fish are absolutely the best in the city and they are the only store I know of where you can get cycled media to help get your new tank up and running. Rare fish and great selection.

Good place, but the thing that stops me from giving a higher rating is that they gave me a sick fish, it died while of the way home. Would’ve been my go to fish store if it weren’t for that.

I've bought a number of fish here. The guys that look after the store are very friendly and very knowledgeable. The selection they have for fish is rarer which is great and I find they are decently prized compared to big fish stores.

Wow just wow, literally the best aquarium in all of Calgary. Prices are exactly what they should be and stock is amazing. For a store 1/3rd the size of piscies I could probably walk around in there for hours just chatting with the staff and admiring their exotic collection of beautiful fish. Piscies staff is great but often don’t know more about what their selling than what google tells them. Here you will find employees who have actually owned the stock and know what they are talking about rather than trying to sell you on expensive junk you do not need. I literally cannot stress enough how amazing of a store this is, they have completely made me rethink what a fish shop should be. I can confidently say I will NEVER be going anywhere but here ever again for supplies even though I live across the city. Fin gallery, you are the best, thank you for re igniting my passion for the hobby.

Helpful staff and decent prices, and better stock than the competitors. I've gotten pest snails and issues everywhere else I buy, except this place.
