Not impressive at all! A person would walk in and love what they see. A Good Earth to the right promises caffeine while you wait in line, a large library just past that promising more dreams to be discovered. The bird's nest dropping from the ceiling above you while the cranes fly towards it. It looks so magical. Then you get to the counter to pay for your way in. It's $18.50 and it takes at least 10 minutes to get you in. They have to know everything about you and not just what you want to go do there. It's a recreation center, not a police department! So after finally getting in, I go to the locker rooms, and discover that the lockers are not secure. You have to provide your own lock. You can get one there but you have to spend and extra $20 for it. You end up taking your valuables with you to the pool. Their waterpark seems okay. Sadly, the waterslides were apparently closed and you had to wait for a hour before a person can get to enjoy them. But that's okay because that flowrider is calling your name. It is an indoor surf-pool that you get to ride on and it is not a gentle ride either. Quite frankly, it kicks you around like an old hacky sack. It really is thrilling and fun. Worth the thirty minute wait. That is the first star. However, you have to sign a waiver that isn't there and was not mentioned to you when you paid the fee. However, one saving grace is this wonderful lifeguard named Ella who actually helped you fill one out on your phone and still watches you valuables for you while to try this place out. She is the only reason why this place is getting a second star. The rest is not good. When questions were asked to other lifeguards and they did not know the answers to anything. Not so great! The lazy pool was clearly made by lazy people. It looks so small and uninspired. All you do is walk in a flowing circle. The hot tubs were tepid at best. You can feel yourself shivering still. The sauna was alright but the air feels the same as the pool, choleric and not altogether pleasant. Lastly, everything was closed. Diving boards, waterslides (that did not open an hour later), and who knows what else were not open. There needs to be some serious changes and not just to these odd schedules but the customer service is atrocious. Customers are not made aware of any waivers, the staff does not know what is going on with their equipment or environment, and on top of that, not too many people were that friendly or approachable. Please do better with this and take a few notes from Ella who was actually the one helpful person. For $18.50 you can make this a place where everyone feels welcome, has fun, and everything is in working order. Some of us have spent less money to go into a pool/waterpark and have had some great times. Please do better!

This is awesome place for fitness freaks and family . My family has enrolled for lots of programs and drop ins. This is world’s biggest YMCA :) Swimming Hot water tub Steam Lazy river Staff is really good and attentive. All gym equipment’s are functional but one of them are out of order since quite long. Apart from that there is nothing to complain about.

First visit with the family. Definitely the last. Far too many rules with regards to just swimming for kids, which makes it not a fun place at all. The lifeguards patrol around the pool like the gestapo in the 1940s. They require a swim test. Then fail the child for taking too many breaths when there was no number stipulated at the beginning. Half the equipment isn’t turned on. This is supposed to be a fun place but it definitely isn’t. I can see why grade 6 kids get a free pass. To make the whole family visit. We did and we DID NOT LIKE IT. Seriously go somewhere else that there is water. Even some puddles after a rainfall is more family fun. I asked when they open the top diving board, only to be told they don’t. It’s too high for the general public. Hey guess what. I’ll decide if somethings too high or not. This place is truly pathetic. One star is being generous!! Oh and it’s absolutely freezing in there too.

Go anywhere else for swimming lessons! The lifeguards are overbearing and down right rude.... do they know what manners are? Please and thank you would be nice. They claim I can't be outside the baby pool, no more 2-3 ft away from my son but the instructor can leave my son on the other side of the pool when she is out of the water by himself? Common now. The lifeguards are taking the fun right out of being at that pool. Won't be coming back here!

Calgary had the world's largest YMCA in the North west, but it was not enough, so they proceeded, barely a year later, to beat that record with this YMCA. This definitely holds the record for the world, at the moment. It is large, spacious, clean, and has amenities available right now which include the fitness area, gym, library, art studios, theatre, daycare, multipurpose/community rooms and two arenas. You got swimming pools, upon swimming, upon swimming pools. A YMCA theatre and two multipurpose rinks for skating....imagine skating in the heat of the summer in an indoor rink? Wowza. Also, diving springboards and platforms, a spectator viewing area, and a water park, including a children’s pool, play structure, lazy river and two waterslides. If you live in the South East, it's definitely a must.

Experienced terrible customer service today. My children were attempting to enter a place, but an elderly person at the entrance denied them entry because they didn't have an ID. She was requesting a driver's license, but they're only 13 years old and don't have one. We believe in treating everyone with respect, especially young kids who represent our future. If we don't treat them well now, how can we expect them to grow up with the same values? It's essential to be respectful and kind when working in public-facing roles, or else one should consider a job more suited to their personality.

I recently swam at this beautiful facility and it was amazing. The staff were so helpful educating me on the programs and registration process. I was given a one week free pass and then two additional day passes to cover the gap for my 65th birthday in a few days. I'll be joining as a full 'senior' member on my birthday. I look forward to signing up for the deep water exercise program. The swimming lanes and competition hot pool are fantastic!!!!

Really cool, massive, great swim area, but not enough staff checking in when we arrived and the physically short line took a long time to process. Changing rooms area is big and well designed for relative privacy. Wish you could rent a lock instead if buying through the vending machine thing; we had to leave one of our lockers unlocked and hoped for the best (all was well).

The facility is Beautiful. There is so much to do here. I use it mainly to workout first thing in the morning. There are a couple things I dislike, but they aren’t deal breakers 1. The steam room is not usually functioning well at 6am (today was the first day in months it was super steamy- thank you maintenance for fixing this! Hope it wasn’t a one off thing) 2. The change rooms are not clean. I would expect a facility of this size and grandeur to have nightly cleaning- at least the toilets! 3. Would make my mornings a lot less rushed if they could adapt a 5am opening time (even just the gym area) like most other gyms 4. It would be great to install a cold water therapy tub to accommodate the large amount of athletes here (and nuts that love to sit in cold water for health benefits) Other than that (I don’t want to complain too much because I really do love it here) … the equipment if beautiful and new, the maintenance staff is great because I rarely see machines out of order. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Even though the change rooms and floors in the steam room are dirty, the pool water is actually quite clean and chemicals well balanced . The flo rider is such a cool feature for both kids and adults and we really appreciate its not a “pay per ride” affair. The public library attached is brilliant. My kiddos spent most of their summer here and loved to relax to a book when they were done swimming. Overall this facility is a great place for families to grow and has something here for everyone. They have a lot more to offer than what Ive mentioned but I only wanted to rate based on my personal use of the facility.

Really liked it here.. the gym is very big with lots of machines to use. Nice and friendly staff. The large pools are very good nice as well and life guards are always on ground even till 8pm. The water slide and flow ride are so fun.. the kids absolutely loved them. The bathrooms, I like the fact there is a family bathroom so you can always be with your kids in addition to male and female only bathrooms. The location is great as well. Parking fees apply for staying more than 2:30mins.. I really like it here. 5stars well deserved

This gym would be very nice if the weight floor was laid out better. I.e. grouping the equipment by category, rather than having one of everything everywhere. The rest of the facility is quite nice and provides a lot of amenities, but keep in mind that this place gets quite busy most of the day. So if you're looking for a nice, chill workout, maybe go early. It is very well designed architecturally so that's a plus as well. I miss Eau Claire.

My son joined me at the Brookfield Y today for his first visit. At the registration desk we met Jessica who welcomed us warmly and explained the options for membership. My son and I were very impressed with her great customer service. His work is exclusively in that realm and he knows exemplary service when he sees it. He mentioned her again following our workouts. He is joining the YMCA and in no small part to Jessica’s impact. Compliments to Jessica from both of us!!

Really nice facilities, my kids loved the library and didn't want to leave as they have a decommissioned helicopter and fun science toys for the kids to play with. We unfortunately didn't swim, ice-skate, rock climb, use the gym or go on the super tubes because we were just passing by and popped in to see what it was like. We had coffee at the little coffee shop there and it was so good 🤤. Definitely worth a visit.

This is is by far a bigger facility than the Remington YMCA which offers a lot more of variety. It offers a clean facility with a wide range of equipment. This facility has longer extended hours and is way closer to where I live. Unfortunately, that is where the pro's ends for me. I found consistently the staff here avoid work and are not approachable at all. I constantly see the front/gym staff play with their phones. I have observed gym staff talk about other gym goer's postures out loud; as it was not up to their standards. Instead of offering any type of assistance, they chose to mock and laugh amongst each other. It was truly distasteful. Young people frequent the facility more than older people which is unfortunate as they do not abide by the rules here. Unfortunately, the staff members here do not enforce anything. As mentioned, I enjoy the Remington YMCA. However, I like the later gym hours so I do go to both locations frequently. I very much dislike coming here though. For instance, while I was showering tonight a group of people within the same ethnicity were singing on the top of their lungs in their ethnic language. I am a visible minority myself but I do not enjoy this type of obnoxious behaviour I see everytime I come here. I observed a staff witness this tonight. And they chose not to do anything at all. Additionally, using the running track here is often times a nightmare. As mentioned, young people often times are not courteous here and do not look left or right before crossing the barrier. Thus, runners have to constantly slow down for those people crossing to avoid running into them. Runners get the right of way when they run... so it says on the signage. This does not get enforced whatsoever. I have had to slow down for the gym staff here as well in the past as they were not paying attention. Please do better Brookfield Residential YMCA. Some people very much have the expectation of getting quality service for what they pay. And I feel this gets wasted by the low accountablity from the staff.

The YMCA is an impressive facility overall—the structure is spectacular, and the staff is genuinely good. The gym equipment and swimming pool are well-maintained, contributing to a positive experience. However, one drawback I've noticed is the issue with teenagers monopolizing gym equipment for extended periods. It can be frustrating when you're eager to get your workout done, and the machines are occupied by individuals in their cellphones or chatting in groups. What's more concerning is the apparent lack of intervention from the staff. It would be greatly appreciated if they could enforce some time limits for them or gently remind to be mindful of others waiting. Small changes in this area would significantly enhance the overall experience for everyone. Despite these minor annoyances, the YMCA remains a top-notch facility with fantastic amenities, and I'll continue to be a member.

The facility is pretty decent overall; however they seem to change rules and regulations weekly. It got to the point where I cancelled my membership as they have zero consistency and would rather make you the client, the problem, than take ownership that they need better direction from management to their staff and volunteers. Good luck to you!

I really like this YMCA but I accidentally left my water bottle on the weight floor that had all my stickers and found out that they throw water bottles when you leave it. This is so wasteful and needs to be addressed. I came back next day and disappointed to find out this information. Some of the programs here are government funded, and you would think they would be more environmentally conscious. This is not good. 2 stars because the pool is nice.

Used to be an awesome place and experience but the swimming has been ruined by so many classes. Half of it is closed throughout the week until 730ish, so kids cant really have too much fun. The dive area gets closed for a class of 10 kids. Now the weekends are full of classes. They basically shut down half the water park and cram in so many people into a lazy river that everyone is fighting and getting angry with each other because they are packed in like sardines. The hot tub (only 1 working) can be a 15 min wait and then they have swimming lanes, that are hardly being used on the other side going to waste. Why not utilize the space better and put the swimming lanes east to west? use the shallow part of the lane area for swimming lessons, freeing up the water park for paying families? I get they have to make money but its useless putting 95% of the people (most with little kids) in one area and having a whole side of the swimming arena used by like 5% of the swimmers .. insane. Some of the staff at the front and life guards act like god.. seriously. Too many people pointing this out.. train your staff better please. What a total embarrassment this place has become.

Generally, not very well run facility. Lots of issues with facility amentities being closed with no notice when paying drop-in admission. No mention of closures pruor to paying admission. Staff are not overly friendly or cooperative when issues voiced. Unfortunately, have had dissappinting/negative experiences almost every time we've gone. And quite honestly, it's not worth the drop-in rate for what you have access to (if you plan to just take your family swimming, like we did). I was considering buyung a membership some time ago, but with all experiences considered, I won't be purchasing. Much better facilities to go to for family swim.

  • 2/5 Derrick H. 6 months ago on Google
The place is filthy, only one of the hot tubs are working. Witch is in the kids zone. They are playing music about F hose and drugs. Asked the lifeguard to change it to something family friendly and there response was “well see.” With sandals, blocking the entrance to the pool trip hazard, I would not recommend using the water park hot tub or even the lane swim.

Incredible facilities. We went for swimming, for which the building is plentiful with amenities however, there’s a large gap in the target audience between roughly 8 years old and 20 years old. The younger kids have some space in some warm pools and fun waterslides. For adults, there is a competition sized lap pool, and a competition dive pool with a 1m/3m spring and 3/5/7/10m platforms.

Great for a YMCA. Lots to do here and a great set of pools and diving boards. There is enough gym equipment so you don't have to wait, even at the busiest times. Don't try and book the theater here. No one ever calls you back and it's a great exercise in frustration. Otherwise I would have given this Y a 5 star review.

A truly wonderful place for the whole family to experience. We especially love the gym and that it is accessible and open to my young growing teenagers. The water park for the little ones is fantastic and the main pool is gorgeous. Overall a truly great asset to the SE. 👌

The pool is awesome! My kids especially love the lazy river and the play structure. Haven't used much else other than that, but everything is definitely state-of-the-art. I love the change rooms and how one is universal/family so both my husband and I can get the kids ready together in the same area.

A very large and very modern design, this community centre provides great entertainment for all of the family. Sports recreation skating and all other events available to everyone, I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get the family out of the house and active. The facility provides nearby access to those living in the Deep South end of Calgary. With other amenities such as hospital and grocery shopping nearby the community in the south is designed for simplicity and accessibility in mind.

The nicest gym & pool in Calgary! The pool is enormous; & has excellent features for children and adults. The slides are hard to get bored of & they even have a surf thing. I'd recommend this over any other gym in the area primarily for the spaciousness but it's also clean; the staff are friendly & the building is beautiful. & parking isn't too bad even at the busiest times!
