The park is well maintained and heavily guarded. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any benches. It's used mainly by commuters and not by those who seek a time to rest. Surrounding the park are tall buildings to close to its perimeter, not giving this green patch, in the middle of the city, space to breath. It's even more appalling, If you taken into account that is the main plaza of the historical area,

The Cayzedo Square is the main square of the city of Santiago de Cali, in the Department of Valle del Cauca. It is the heart of the commercial and civic life of the city. It is a park in the historic center of the department's capital, where several palm trees stretch to the sky like water jets. It was known as La Plaza Mayor during the colonial era, until 1813 which was named as Plaza de la Constitución. In 1913 he was given his current name in honor of the hero of the independence of Valle del Cauca and martyr Caleño Joaquín de Cayzedo y Cuero, and was adorned with a statue of his in the center. It is surrounded by numerous buildings, among which the National Palace, the Otero Building and the Cathedral of San Pedro, listed next to the square as national monuments.

It's a beautiful traditional plaza surrounded by beautiful buildings, unfortunately neglected over the last couple of decades. Lack of conservation laws has meant the privately owned buildings that surround it haven't been well kept either and lots of ugly signs and awnings now contribute to its sad look.
