It was my second time staying at this hotel. Its affordable alrighy but its not worth the rooms stink so badly. I will not go there again even if its free. The pool is great and staff very friendly. The sewage is old and the hence the pungent smell. Both times I was there I had to ask to change rooms. Room 422 is the worst.

I've been to Mexico on numerous occasions and stayed in fabulous hotels BUT the Smart Cancun by Oasis unfortunately did not live up to my previous stays.Ill start with the good- The location is perfect if you like to be in the city near an abundance of street and restaurant food.Close access to a fabulous mall, and even the best pool/jacuzzi ON SITE area. Onto the BAD 1.)The breakfast buffet options are few and between. little to no actual protein, the bins were empty, eggs tasted old, but the orange juice was good. 2.) They have a strict 3:00pm check in policy so if coming here you'd have to wait in the lobby with your belongings which got crowded.3.) The actual ROOMS are horrible. My room in particular leaked water every time it rained which happened to be the entire 4 days I stayed. POOLS OF WATER ! When we notified the front desk they came to discover a HOLE in my wall-never offered to change my room but instead asked to " give them an hour to fix the problem. " I left the hotel for a WEDDING, and came back ZERO adjustments. I woke to a LAKE of water, ruining my shoes and clothes that were unfortunately on the floor. When we notified the desk they offered to dry our clothes ! Ive never been more infuriated!! To add insult to injury I couldn't accept their disgusting offer to help because we had a plane to catch. When we asked for a manager before we left for compensation we were told wait 5 min for her to come which turned into 30 ! Almost making us miss our flight; for her to NEVER SHOW!! The desk attendant gave me her email on a crumbled paper and said that's all they could do. Save your money especially if you love your belongings because they'll be ruined by leaks from the wall, you'll be offered no compensation or help, and their -"staff doesn't come on time for their shift if it's "Sunday"- is also what the desk attendant said to me, I WONT EVER BE BACK!! BEWARE OF THIS PLACE

My husband and I recently stayed at Hotel Smart Cancun for a couple of nights, and overall, we had a satisfying experience. One of the highlights was the reasonable price we paid, which included a delicious breakfast. It was a great value for the money. Despite encountering a problem on the day of check-in and arriving close to midnight, we were relieved to receive attentive service. Our room was still prepared and waiting for us, which was a relief after a long journey. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. Additionally, the hotel provides a parking lot, making it convenient for those traveling with a vehicle. However, it's important to note that the avenue leading to the hotel is currently under construction, which might make accessing the hotel a bit challenging. Nonetheless, with some patience and careful navigation, it's manageable. Overall, our stay at Hotel Smart Cancun was satisfying. The attentive service, reasonable price, comfortable rooms, and convenient parking made our experience enjoyable.

This hotel is not without issues. For example, the AC runs at the volume of a jet engine, there is something oddly synthetic about the pillows and the toilet flushes with the force of an aircraft lavatory (seriously - they are spectacularly loud). Whilst we’re on the subject of that super-loud-AC-with-loose-parts-that-rattle-at-random: it’s very effective at drowning out the outside noise that otherwise has no issue passing through the balcony doors. It’s not all bad, though. For example, you get to use the pool of the adjacent Oh! Hotel, which is actually pretty nice. The hotel’s location is great and I’m sure that after an extensive remodel the hotel will be great again, too. Until that time however, it does feel a bit expensive for what it has to offer.

Bitten by bed bugs, I was only at this hotel for a night. I emailed and was promised at the front desk they would follow up, but no response since my stay on April 29th. I am not happy I paid full price for a suite on the top floor and have received such poor service in regard to action and to hygiene.

Upon arrival we were provided a dirty room that was not yet prepared for a new couple. We had to wait for a new room. We got the new room and it smelt so bad. We waited one more day for a different room which they provided. Less obvious smell however still concerning. One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. My sister and I fell sick with food poisoning 3 days into the trip. We’ve booked tickets out of Cancun immediately. The food is dirty, not well prepared, the water is undrinkable, the room has foul stench I can’t describe. Like wet socks. Throughout the hotel there is air conditioning but it reeks of humidity and wet clothes. This is a 4 star hotel in the eyes of locals. In the eyes of foreign travellers, this is easily 2-3 stars at best. I visited a friend staying at the Grand Oasis downtown and the difference is alarming. The rooms smell so bad at Smart Oasis.. I wish I could explain it. Almost like moth balls. Main reason for 1 star is the food poisoning my sister and I have endured for the past 24 hours. We ordered a chicken and steak dish respectively and we have both fallen sick. The hotel offered a doctor for a few hundred pesos to which we accepted and then received a call back an hour later saying the doctor cancelled. We’ve booked a 1 way ticket out of here. We have checked out early and hope for a refund. We will have to go through travel insurance for costs for medication. Taxis also harass you and Uber is illegal. Be prepared as the taxis get violent and aggressive.

This is pretty good hotel. With few things to know. Pros: It’s close to everything. Right in the middle of the Cancun. So basically if you have a car or like to walk you in the middle of everything. Hotel itself is clean, staff pretty friendly. Nothing to brag about but everything is good. Hot water is solid and comes out right the way. Cons: Wi-Fi is pretty much none existent. If you going to be planning on working from hotel room, forget about it. I measured Wi-Fi speed at 1.4mbps. So you know how slow this is, net zero dial up was about 3-6bmps. Check in takes forever. Not sure what’s the deal there. Keep that in mind. Hotel has parking access. So if you rent a car you can park it inside safely. Pool area seems to be clean. Some people there. We haven’t really used it so I can’t say. Overall if you want to explore real city instead of getting your continental breakfast in the same resort every day, this place is for you!

We had been there for a week. Everything was good. The room doesn't look very fancy, but for the price it's good. The Pool and jacuzzi are awesome.

Stayed here from September 4-10th. We checked in at around 7pm on arrival day. There was no waiting as reception was empty. Check-in process was really straightforward. The rooms were very clean and the whole cleaning team were super friendly and were on hand when needed. We had a room facing the main road so traffic from 7am in the morning was a tad annoying. Breakfast selection changed every day and I ate here 3 mornings and every was great. Had dinner once again o issues at all and chose to eat outside. Filemon behind The White Terrace bar is amazing … All in all a great stay

I booked a room at Oasis directly through their website and received two confirmation emails, complete with a confirmation number and the website took my card details. However, upon arriving at the hotel, I was informed that my room was not available. The manager was nowhere to be found and only showed up 5 minutes later as if he was trying to hide from us. When I politely asked if they could offer me an option, the staff refused, citing "they were fully booked in all hotels from the chain." However, they never sent any notification about the room availability or the lack thereof. This was possibly the worst experience I've ever had checking into a hotel. Overall, I would not recommend Oasis to anyone based on this experience. It's unacceptable to have a confirmed reservation and then not have a room available upon arrival. Additionally, the lack of communication from the hotel regarding the availability of the room only made matters worse. I would advise anyone considering booking a room at Oasis to think twice and look elsewhere for their lodging needs.

After reading all the reviews we were kinda having doubts if we still wanna book or not but I’m glad we did. The hotel location is great, it is close to everything and to the buses which is just like a 5 minutes walk. Many negative reviews had mentioned bad smell in the lobby or rooms(which really concerned me)but we didn’t really feel anything. Actually it smelled pretty nice in the lobby :) the staff were kind and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The pool area was really beautiful and relaxing. The check in and check out were pretty fast. Overall we enjoyed our stay :) thank you! Zahra and Meitham

Certainly one of the best hotels I've stayed at. The rooms are surprisingly spacious and it's great value for money. The location is pretty great, close to downtown and a lot of good restaurants and you can easily take a public bus after a 5 minute walk that will take you straight to hotel zone/beaches. Will definitely stay here whenever I visit Cancun again.

Adequate for our stay. Cost efficient. Internet connection is a real hassle!! Pools were chilly. Nice amenities but most cost extra if you don’t buy the upgrade. Comfy beds but not queen size. For what we paid it was very good value.

We stayed for one night as a transition time before heading out to Riviera Maya for the week. My rating averages at 4 because the room was a 3 but the shared spaces and pool area were all a 5. The pool area is very inviting -beautiful really- and relaxing, and common spaces were all immaculate and lovely. The staff were all friendly and helpful and the food options were pretty good. (We didn't get the breakfast as it wasn't included with our room rate, but it looked phenomenal.) The room was only okay. Ours had a strong musty odor (most likely just from the a/c being off when there weren't guests because it was better by the morning, although still present) and the shower head needed replacing. There was so much build up that the water didn't come out in a spray, but rather one single stream. The bright side is that it kind of made for a nice massage. If we had been staying longer I would have requested a change or maintenance, but for one night, it worked fine for us. I would stay here again as a decent mid-priced option in the area. The free secured parking was also a huge bonus and the location allowed us to walk to restaurants and the mall.

There is better options for the price. Also, the Wifi is horrible, they give you in reception a password for one of the wifi networks but when you go to the room do not work well, and you have to download and app just get code for a working wifi

We had the best time and lovely stay in this hotel. Everyone was super nice, helpful and welcomed. We wanted to mention especially Emmanuel and other staff: Angel, Kenia, Belan, Jose and Erick who made our stay even more pleasant. Hotel is in a very good location downtown, easy to take a bus to the beach or as a pick up location for guide tours. I was very impressed with facilities like sport bar and outdoor hot baths. Breakfast was very good. Pool area was very comfortable where you could relax. We would highly recommended Smart by Oasis Hotel.

During my month-long stay at Smart Cancun by Oasis, I had a wonderful experience that exceeded my expectations. The hotel provided a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the vibrant city of Cancun. The accommodations at Smart Cancun were modern, clean, and well-maintained. My room was spacious and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a long-term stay. The bed was comfortable, and the housekeeping staff ensured that everything was kept tidy throughout my time there. The hotel's location was fantastic, situated in the heart of Cancun. It was close to various attractions, restaurants, and shopping centers, making it easy to explore the city and immerse myself in the local culture. The staff at Smart Cancun were friendly, professional, and always willing to assist. They provided helpful information about the area and were attentive to any requests or concerns I had during my stay. Their warm hospitality made me feel welcome and well taken care of. One highlight of my stay was the rooftop pool and lounge area. It offered a stunning view of the city skyline and was a perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring. The gym facilities were also well-equipped and allowed me to maintain my fitness routine during my stay. In terms of dining options, the hotel had a variety of on-site restaurants and bars that catered to different tastes. The food was delicious, and the service was prompt and attentive. Overall, my experience at Smart Cancun by Oasis was exceptional. The comfortable accommodations, convenient location, and attentive staff made my month-long stay enjoyable and memorable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cancun, whether for a short or long-term stay.

Great location and staff. Two gentlemen at the front desk were very helpful and accommodating. If you ever get yourself in trouble, ask Francisco! Also if you are looking for any tour or activities during your stay, I highly recommend to book through Caribe; there is a booth in the hotel. They are awesome and will give you most satisfying and safe ones! Thank you Leticia, Jeorge and Aldo😊

Good resort. No complaints. Except our door key barely worked. I think out of the 10 times I used it. It didn’t open the door 9 times. They had to open it with a metal rod under the door. They tried to fix it and said it was fixed but the same night it was broken again.

To get the wi-fi is a tedious process You have to download an app and give all your personal information. This hotel is owned by a timeshit company, so , most likely that they can later phish on you. Then it works, but next day guess what, you have to do it all over again. The app gives you a code that is probably only good until 10:00 am The shower has no pressure and you can smell the humidity. There is no parking on site as the city is working on the street but it was advertised as it was, and yes it was . The staff do know nothing and always prefer to ignore your concerns. It is very outdated. Will never stay there again

Huge construction site going on in front. Noise and dust everywhere. Good we booked a refundable rate. Came in and cancelled instantly.Wonder how buses and normal cars will even arrive without walking through this mess. They should have warned people before coming.

It is not by the beach but you can always travel by bus. Breakfast is good! Pool area is beautiful 😍 the rooms are clean and stocked with water and coffee/tea. There is an oxxo right in front if you need to get snacks. There is also restaurants up the road. We recommend the poblanos restaurant 👌 very nice people! I forgot the waiters name but definitely worth a try !!

Not sure of the bad reviews.. but I am fairly picky about hotels and resorts. The room was big and clean, Staff was very nice, the pool was super cool and the resteraunt / Bar were great too. Those complaining about road noise.. yea you're downtown... there is traffic. About 10 minutes or so from the hotel zone. I was at a resort for a week, then my dentist went longer than anticipated and booked at Smart. I would recommend and also will stay again. Amazing tacos nearby too!

Place is in a good location. If you have an issue, the staff will threaten to call the police on you. I would not recommend if you would like to feel safe on your trip.

Only reason I booked it is because of the location and the price but service and everything is so bad, I constantly had issues with bad Wi-Fi connection, bathroom are poorly maintained, room is big and nice but with all the other issues I will try to avoid this hotel

  • 3/5 Boban V. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is ok but the room was dirty and ruined. The breakfast is not worth for the price. Great pool and good atmosphere at the garden

Check in was fine with no problems. Our room had mysterious stains on the sheets and the water was constantly leaking out of the shower area. It made the floor dangerous. MORE CONCERNING ISSUE: When we checked out, we decided to get a driver from a popular app. Unknown to us, we were followed from the hotel to our driver. Then the staff member or taxi driver began to berate our driver and made the driver show the pick up location from his app to make sure it wasn't in front of the hotel. Obviously it wasnt in front of it. The taxi system here is too expensive and I advise travelers to be careful to when ordering an Uber or Didi near the taxis. PLEASE look up what happened recently with the Russian tourists that were harassed and chastised to the point of tears. BE CAREFUL!!!

Such a great hotel if you don’t mind staying away from the crowded and noisy hotel zone! You’re minutes away from local hotspots and adventures from Parque las Palapas, Mercado 23 and Plaza Las Américas. If you like to do touristy things, every tour company picks you up from the hotel. There is always a taxi to take you to anywhere you’d like. $600 pesos takes you to the airport so don’t let them swindle you for more. The staff was AMAZING! The bell boys, front office, house cleaning, the cafes and pool staff were all GREAT!

If you need to choose between smart and urban oh, i recommend the urban the rooms are way better. Ive tried both! Great hotel and service 🙏 they have servers at the pool and serve drinks and food. Good dj too, the music doesnt get too loud.

The place is really nice at a great location. The only negative thing I can say is that the keys get unprogrammed every day and will have to program the key every night before accessing our room. The weight was anywhere from 5 minutes to 18 minutes every time. Really inconvenient to be honest aside from that it was fine

The hotel is very well equipped and we had a pleasant stay. The ladies at the reception were a bit out of touch, hence one star less: they asked me to write by hand a declaration of conformity because I left something in the desk to be picked up; after insisting they did it on the PC and I just had to sign. That on top of unnecessary bureaucracy and long waiting at the reception made it a bit bitter. On the other hand, the service, food and drinks were world class. Special shout out to Sergio who was not only very cordial and attentive, but also friendly and fun yo chat with.

Bad reception stuff . Then they try to scam me giving me diferent low class room and lying into my face that my room type does not exist (i show them the booking.com photos) After 10 minutes of lying they eventually gave me exactly what i have booked. What a scam hotel stuff This is how the stuff make money from cheating the clients, sell expensive rooms and give cheap rooms

The nicest hotel in town. By living hete you can accrss the oasis beach hotels by reduced prices on the day passes. Abd you hab all central cancun market, shopping in plava america within 15 min walking distance

The stuff here is so stupid slow and not effective at all, super slow check in, so many people waiting for the breakfast they have only 1! 1! 1! person to lead you to your table, when they have the available tables they still let people wait there instead of just give them silverware, Cancun is great except this horrible hotel!

Great hotel experience. We have stayed here for 2 weeks and we loved it so much that we tried to extend our stay by 17 days. (But we couldn't due to the peak season price increases). Great memories. To see some photos of the hotel and Cancun please visit my Instagram page @scottstravelphotos

After a long flight my husband and I were looking forward to stay at the smart Cancun by oasis and get some needed rest. But unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience. Finally we got our room, at first glance the room looked clean but once we started settling in, I lay down in the bed the the pillow beds stank and had stains. I found hair in the sheets, the sheets smell so bad to rancid, I felt discussed. I was so upset that I didn’t even want to argue with the receptions guy that was in the night shift. I just let it go and dealt with the Issue the next morning, I addressed the situation and all they did was nothing. They only thank us. We didn’t received any reimbursement or any complimentary detail. To what they charge this place is not worth your money. This would be the last time I stay here, I would never recommend smart Cancun by oasis to any of my friends nor family. Very disappointed.
