I cancelled my membership a few weeks ago however they kept charging my account for the month afterwards. Whenever I call, usually in the morning when the line isn’t as busy they intentionally put me on hold for about 15 minutes before my airtime runs out.or when I select the option to be called back, I never got a call from them. At the few occasions they actually picked up the phone they keep transferring me from department to department and eventually putting me on hold. Such a low customer service management for such a good and big brand. Very disappointed. Just know that leaving them isn’t going to be as smooth and friendly as joining them.

Honestly this virgin active only has one thing going for it and that's the price. The only reason it gets 2 stars is because it has a decent selection of classes and the weights are still in working condition. However, the aircon barely works. The weight section floor matt is so uneven that it's an actual hazard. The machines have loose nuts and bolts and are even missing nuts and bolts. There's no deadline section so people improvise and it becomes a big inconvenience. During peak hours it gets so overcrowded that it's actually uncumfortable to even go in there. Overlal it's poorly managed.

Great gym with clean environment,great equipment and friendly staffs. Peak hrs can be busy with lots of people.

SCAM ALERT: I cancelled my membership in person (had to come in early to see the manager before I left the country) and was charged a cancellation fee as agreed. This should have been it. Well they continued to bill my credit card for two months before I realized they were stealing from me. They dodge you on the phone, put you on hold, pretend they don't hear you etc. Absolutely horrendous service and pretty sure they intentionally defrauded me (particularly after seeing reviews from other people who experienced the same thing). After hours of dealing with my bank, they reversed those fraudulent charges but the gym claimed that I still owed them the cancellation fee and that the charge I referred to (which happened to be the exact same amount as the cancellation fee) was actually the bill for two other memberships I allegedly opened on the same day that I cancelled my own and left the country. They continue to pursue me and refuse to accept the fact that this would be completely ridiculous for me to do. Had to send them pictures of signed IDs, sample signatures, signed affadavit etc. and it is still ongoing. Too much of a headache - go to another gym unless you feel like fighting an ongoing battle for months to keep them from defrauding you.

Virgin Active Kenilworth looks very nice upon entering, however the machines and weights need attention. The weights are rubber edges, but some are torn, hanging or just completely off. The weights lie all over the floor the racks don't always indicate the weight amount, and the the weights total on actual dumbell is tough to make out. There were atleast 5 machines that were not functional on gym floor, not enough benches in dumbell area. The floor itself is very wobbly very annoying when you get some clowns dropping there weight near you the entire floor vibrates. The cardio equipment all work and is clean saving this review from a 1 star. Rather head to Claremont Virgin Active much better experience

Smallest gym I have been to. Only went twice so will have to keep you posted Have not been to any classes as they are bad times or they dnt have but let me first experience before I judge Some gym selfies lol

Found worms in the showers reported it to the reception on three showers work they have dirty locker rooms .Kenilworth VA is'nt big on hygiene .There is'nt enough equipment some of them are broken .You have to stand in lines in order to use things .Its more of a social gathering than a gym .

Great. Just wish they would keep ALL the massive sliding doors open for best possible VENTILATION (including at reception!)... a FREE and effective way to improve safety for all members and staff. Easy access to outside areas.

Please sort out your free weights section. The dumbbells are "labelled" with tippex, and the resulting dumbbell rack is a mess. Other than that, great gym with lots of space

Got some comps to train at virgin I'm a zone fitness member ,but sorry to say won't pay so much to gym at virgin kc equipment is old and outdated .

Whenever it’s extremely hot, the fans are not working. On other days, the fans are working. Not a pleasant experience at this gym.

Just had a very unpleasant experience when calling the club to find out information about entering since the staircase and elevator are both closed. When I asked a followup question the woman in reception simply made a sound as if I asked a dumb question and quickly wanted to end the call without answering. I found it extremely rude and unprofessional! Treat your clients with some respect!

Some equipment needs replacing, unreliable range of motion and deteriorating dumbbells and plates with the occasional unstable padded rest. Lovely air conditioning and pleasant staff

Great gym. Nice and spacious generally besides the weight section. Gym gets quite full during peak time but is quite enjoyable all other times

Love virgin active. Thierry clubs clean well equipped, I feel have enough space to feel cramped and all the facilties to feel posh. A great place to work out and spend some quality time on yourself.

Find an independent gym/smaller chain because Virgin Active is a disaster. Cancelled my membership (or so I thought) in July to end in August and low and behold, got charged again for September for a membership I no longer had. The admin is just a nightmare. Have had similar experiences with other branches, so if you’re on the fence, don’t waste your time/money unless you’re wanting to commit lifelong.

Clean/friendly staff and they have everything you need yo exercise

A lovely gym and brilliant alternative to the crazy busy Claremont gym. They have all the gear with a better layout than Claremont and lovely spaces with super friendly and helpful staff as well as patrons. Easy access with free 1h30 parking with great shops to get your goods on the way out! Highly recommended.

I just recently joined virgin active and all I can say I wow wow wow. The cycling class I joined today made me realise I made the best choice joining these guys. Virgin Active Kenilworth. Lets get those body goals

All front desk stuff very unprofessional, unfriendly they are definitely not there to help you they are there to make it more unpleasant and complicated for the members. I'm highly disappointed and angry

I cancel my son Due to his not to used his Membership account, on May 24, 2022 I pay for membership cancellation.. And now 2nd June deducted from my account!!! Why???? And I ask to reverse my money back until now I'm still waiting hope you virgin active solve this matter..

Way too full, it’s impossible to train here between 4-7 PM. For the price that virgin active takes, you take way too many customers.

Love the open area used for HIIT. Particularly enjoy the view when lying on the mat staring at a blue sky while catching my breath between sets 😉

Corporately entitled and cowardly. To your marketing and events department, please grow a social backbone and have some respect. Appearing at private commercial events, without permission, with even so much as an approach on site - and proceeding to action your pirate marketing antics is just the lowest rung in the book. And then when caught red handed and asked to leave private property not doing so until security was summoned!!

Really nice place with super helpful staff available while you gym.

Relatively small when compared to other Virgin Actives in Cape Town. There's no pool, but has most of the other basic features. The staff are helpful and they offer parking discounts so you get free parking at the mall for the first hour and a half.

Well lit gym , has an indoor/outdoor running track. No sauna , only steam room.

Great gym however the hour and a half free parking provided by the gym is not enough. Please extend it to at least two hours.

Customer service is terrible at this place. Too many entitled staff that almost get upset if you ask for any sort of assistance. I gymed at this place for a while but then decided to rather gym at home

No warm pools Equipment needs to be upgradedw WIFI never works on any of these devices. You unable to Google what's happening in other gums. Big screens need to be installed it's very dead inside the gym if u don't bring earphones along. People need to feel excited walking in and motivated when they leave.. Regards

Smells badly of chlorine!! Struggling to breath during my workouts !! No one fresh ventilation and air through out all the virgin actives!! No windows open and it’s a struggle to breath! All you inhale is chlorine. Virgin active needs to improve on this there are many other things to use that are environmentally safe for humans other than chlorine!! It’s unnecessary and especially for people with asthma and autoimmune disease

Eversince gym opened after lock down (bare in mind we understand the pandemic has messed up all systems and we totally get that but this is just unfairness) we have been trying to get into 1 of the classes, your app is giving so much problems where we just cannot book a class, 3 weeks ago was the 1st time I got it right to book for a class, class starts at 9.05am we arrived at the class 9am, the manager at that time was busy talking to a lady and according to her we were 1min late and she gave our space to another, in which we are still waiting on responses to emails requested, in any case, today we arrive again at 9am and asked if there was space and the same manager then says no they are waiting on a lady whose name is on the list, YOU GUYS REALLY NEED TO START GETTING YOUR SYSTEM IN ORDER, we can't book on the phone can't book online, we can't come early to get into the class? You are full of empty promises and I'm not sure if I will be coming back to this gym, VERY BAD EXPERIENCE AND WON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO JOIN

Strickly with the pandemic, they got a area where you drop equipment to be cleaned after use, nice open area to do outside workouts, good equipment

Good gym. I last used this gym about 10 years ago and it looks like they still have the same weight training equipment from back then. Good vibe and people sort of leave you alone to get on with your thing which I like. It does get really full on a week night but that's to be expected. There's a steam room as well which, although I don't personally like steam rooms, is a nice bonus.

Well done to the services this morning Sunday 1st March 2020. Reception, MOD Cheryl -Lynn, Fitness Instructor - Jacques aswell as the Cleaning Staff. Services on point however am still strongly believe from a member's point of view that those members not adhering to club rules should be brought to book. If the majority of members can do that, so can all. Especially members training in the free weights area. Pointless having a rule book if no need to adhere to any of the rules in there, period!!!! Club Managers should support their staff and start taking action and the Regional Office aswell. Well done once again Team Cheryl-Lynn. 🌟💯👌
