Visited Dock with a friend for some drinks, location is lovely with a great atmosphere. Drinks were reasonably priced and very nice. As we visited on a Sunday we tried to have the Sunday roast advertised on their menu but unfortunately they did not have any. Food consisted of generic good pub food.

A pretty horrible experience unfortunately. My 5 year old daughter and I called in for lunch & after a long wait were seated and waited quite a while again for menus. I subsequently had to go up to the bar and ask for a children's menu. Our drinks took far too long to come and eventually came at the same time as our main meals. Unfortunately my daughters chicken pieces & fries were so overcooked that she wasn't able to eat them. It then became apparent that her hot chocolate had both a piece of plastic and a human hair in it. At this point we both stopped eating/drinking (although I'd pretty much finished my food) and called the waitress over. She was obviously very apologetic and very polite about the issues we had. I explained I was reluctantly content to pay for my food, given I'd eaten the majority of it, but couldn't accept paying for my daughters food. I was therefore a little disappointed that they still chose to charge for my daughters starter and drink (that is part of the chidrens 3 course menu), but in my eagerness to leave didn't challenge it. On reflection I should have refused to pay for any food as I genuinely felt pretty queasy for the remainder of the day given what had happened. Finally I have to mention that on taking my daughter to the toilet, the facilities were not clean & there was no toilet paper available. On reflection, I have reported the issue with the drink to the food safety team at Cardiff Council as it was in no way acceptable.

The dock is a very nice place to eat. Very hot with minimal air-conditioning upstairs. The fish and chips were great. Chips slightly undercooked so a little tough. All round great place.

Staff were really friendly and attentive. Live music downstairs was good. Plenty of seating available so we were able to sit on the balcony. Very reasonably priced drinks considering the location! Would definitely come again.

Great place for early breakfast and then beer before rugby. Fantastic singer last Saturday called Johnny Collins, who had the place singing along to lots of great songs when we went back after the rugby. Good range of beers too. I will come back.

Food is okay, sharers are way too small to share. Lovely view but upstairs deck could do with a little sprucing up. Looks tired.

Nice big bar on the bay without outside area, live music on a Thursday and a great aperol spritz - didn't eat hence no review for food

Absolutely top notch fish and chips. We actually got sweet potato fries instead of regular chips and it was a perfect match. The location is great, awesome views, and very friendly servers.

The Dock proved to be an excellent venue to host our recent private function for 25 people. The location in the Bay is great, and the upstairs space with the balcony and private access to the bar were super for the occasion. Our contact, Fern, was ever helpful and enthusiastic and she ensured all our requirements were met. On the day, the Dock's hospitality could not be faulted; all the staff were outstanding - very positive and helpful and keen to ensure we had a great function - special mentions to Korina (floor manager?) and the ever-smiling and efficient Cornelia behind the bar. To top it all the hot buffet was to an excellent standard with a large variety of choices. Overall, the Dock proved to be a first-class venue for our private function – well done and a big thank you to all the staff involved.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Dock bar and restaurant in Cardiff Bay, and I would give it a solid 4-star rating. One of the standout features is their pet-friendly policy, which is a welcoming touch for dog owners. The prices are in line with what you'd expect from a venue like this, with most meals starting at around £15 and starters at approximately £7. I opted for the "Big Bay Burger," and I must say, it was a delightful culinary experience. The burger was juicy, fresh, and bursting with flavor, easily ranking among the best burgers I've ever had. The staff was friendly and attentive, contributing to a pleasant atmosphere accompanied by enjoyable background music. In terms of drink prices, they were reasonable, with singles averaging around £7 and doubles at £9. Overall, my visit to The Dock was a great experience, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others or return for another visit. The combination of pet-friendliness, delicious food, friendly staff, and a vibrant atmosphere makes it a place worth trying.

Had 2 course Sunday Lunch, £23.45 for 2 courses. Very over priced for the quality. We waited so long for cutlery that the manager very politely came over to apologise person. The Garlic Prawns starter was also very poor quality, If you’re heading to The Bay for drinks then it’s great but food I would say head to Club House instead!

The chicken dish was as if it hadn’t been cooked three days ago, it hadn’t been cut with a knife, The waiter was very nice and attentive.

Great venue with an amazing view of the Bay. Went for food and cocktails recently and would highly recommend. When we visited, they had a Happy Hour running so my friend and I were making the most of 241 cocktails while watching some Live Music. Will definitely be visiting again!

  • 4/5 Adrian E. 1 year ago on Google
Great atmosphere with a live band and 241 on bottle beers and cocktails made it a cheap night. Also a good selection of food

Booked this place for a pre show meal on a Saturday evening (yesterday). The service was horrific. Was shown to our table quickly but waited ages for our order to be taken. Our starters then arrived before our drinks. Mains served to the table but plates from the starters were left behind. Had to flag waiters/waitresses down to order additional drinks as our table was not approached after food being served. Good job all our plates & glasses were left behind I suppose, because we could then prove that we never had the 2 extra cocktails & fries that they tried to charge us for. Food was just bang average, not much flavour but the price reflected this to be fair. Cocktails were small & overpriced. There was a live band on which I had been looking forward to, but they didn't sound great & the volume was a bit overpowering for a meal. Probably a fine place to stop for 1 drink but certainly wouldn't have food here again. Probably the worst service we've ever received as it was just non existent.

Lovely to have it back!! Changed hands recently and has made a huge difference! Lovely breakfast with my partner. Although very family friendly. Lots of outdoor seating and live music in the afternoons which is a lovely atmosphere! Sea views whether you sit in or out

Fantastic pub, always a great atmosphere! The food is always excellent and the cocktails from the new menu are lovely! There's always a great welcome here, and the Thursday quiz is amazing! Most fun quiz we have been to!

Always busy and within reason. This place is an excellent place to meet friends for a catch up over drinks. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Price wise - it’s reasonable.

Monica served me and my partner and she was so lovely and accommodating. It was my birthday so she gave me a complimentary drink and made sure we were conformable and provided us with blankets when we said we were cold. This is the best service i’ve ever received at a bar and I would definitely recommend to everyone to go here.

Had a great night in here with my friends. The small plates are so good, we ended up ordering all of them. Great cocktail selection, love their twist on a cosmopolitan - strawberry and rose cosmopolitan - revolutionary! The singer Elliott was awesome, good to know he is here most weekends and it didn't end there, there was also a DJ on for the rest of the night. Great vibes and amazing staff. Shout out to the bar staff Niamh, Tyler, Ben and Harriet for making our night the best. In a while.

Came here a few weeks ago for a roast dinner and will definitely not be returning. The staff didn’t know what they were doing, they weren’t attentive at all and were quite standoffish, especially the manager when a refund was asked for the roast dinner that was cold, veg wasn’t cooked, roast potatoes were raw and oily, it was inedible. There was no apology or politeness, and I’m not someone to normally complain, but when I’m paying nearly £20 for a roast dinner I expect it to be edible and for the customer service to be decent if it’s not.

Attended a hen party here back in July. Perfect venue, buffet really tasty and varied. Cocktails fabulous and staff friendly and attentive. Particular thanks to Nate for making our visit a great experience, fantastic service and amazing cocktails.

Awful Sunday lunch. Don’t go here (and won’t return for food again!). Couldn’t make it up. Chewy/fatty beef. Cold. Tiny portion of veg. Hard to believe it’s £18! Also they said they would clean the table when we were seated. They didn’t return and we had to ask for it to cleaned (and even then it was only half cleaned). Not usually one to complain but this was just poor all around.

Lots of choices on the menu something for everyone. Food was tasty and hot. My only criticism was the wait for the bill asked for it and 20 minutes later they came with it. But was very clean and tidy and felt safe

A fab place in great location. Their gig and a quiz night is always lots of fun with a great atmosphere and crowd. Nice selection of drinks and decent quality food to. Perfect place for a glass of something while looking over the bay

Have you ever wanted a fun pub quiz and not just a generic boring one? Then look no further than The Dock. Staff are on the ball and aren't just pretty faces. Atmosphere in this place is top notch, had a Christmas do here and although some of the people that went on the night cant remember the evening, I can assure them it was a brilliant night.

The Dock is an excellent venue for all occasions. Fantastically situated in beautiful Cardiff Bay, I've visited with friends and family on multiple occasions. The staff are fantastic, truly friendly and welcoming to the establishment. Couple that with some great food and drink choices and you truly can't go wrong. If you're heading 'down the bay' then look no further.

I went to the dock for my birthday and I couldn’t be more pleased. The staff were very helpful and considerate and nothing seemed too much of an ask. The venue is perfect for a sit down meal and a social drink, would definitely come again

Wow. Such great vibes. The entertainment in here is so good. There was a great singer followed by a DJ. We had food before we came downstairs to watch the entertainment and it was spectacular for what you pay. So beautifully presented. The bar downstairs had such speedy service even when ordering a variety of cocktails.

Visited here last month for a bite to eat and some drinks. Was met with a great customer service form Katie who took a great care of me and my party. She recommended very tasty cocktails! Also the food was out of this world good! Would defo recommended this place if you're ever in the bay

  • 4/5 chantille r. 1 year ago on Google
Really friendly staff but there was a bit of a wait for drinks considering it didn't seem that busy. 2 of our party arrived 15 minutes early and didn't receive their drinks until the rest of the party got there, I understand cocktails take a while but this was just for two pints. Food was lovely but this would be our only complaint, thanks

This place is very well put together and appealing to the eye. My husband and I attended The Dock in August as we were in Cardiff for our anniversary. The food was average at best unfortunately I had fish and chips which was very greasy and my husband had a steak which was edible, but nothing special. Don’t expect to be blown away by the food. The view is ‘good’ and the service was moderately fast however a special thank you to Hayden for making this experience a good one we aren’t the easiest people to please but you are an asset to the company. The rest of the staff didn’t seem bothered and were clock watching if I’m honest they are just there for the money.

Worst breakfasts ever! Welsh Breakfast. Two pieces of bacon, partially incinerated, converted to charcoal on the edges.(Inedible) One dried out flavourless sausage, One round of dry toast, no butter provided. Two slices of a mushroom, a small pot of baked beans, one fried egg, two large hash browns(overkill) and a tomato. No Drink, that was extra. This culinary delight, including a cuppa, set me back over £14. Worst breakfast ever!
