Where shall I start . Went here to order scampi as a main and red wine lasagne as a main . First of all they just had some paper menu with hardly anything on it . So I went for the ciabatta with cheese and chutney with chips and my wife had the ham n eggs with chips . I went to the counter ordered a Pepsi. Was served a Pepsi max that's not what I ordered. The chips with both meals were hard in places and the ciabatta was horrific the bread itself was hard where it had been kept in a fridge and the amount of grated cheese in there was pitiful. My wife's ham was fatty and tasted stale . Someone came and asked if we were happy we told him the food is just OK 5 out 10 . I also showed him a voucher where I was supposed to have £5 off when spending 20.00. I was told the manageress was on break and no 1 could apply it other than her. Then the original girl with glasses came to table about 10 mins later coughing everywhere and I said I wanted to order dessert and I have a voucher. She also said what the guy had said that manageress was on break and only she could apply it . Waited another 10 mins . Nobody seemed to give a s**te . So we walked out . Won't return what a shambles they are running . If I hadn't of paid beforehand I wouldn't have paid them . Also as I'm leaving really cheesed off . You see staff members in the car park smoking nice look . 👌. And also don't bother responding saying you will look to improve like you have with other reviews. As it's obviously a load of rubbish and a cop out . I wish I could have my money back .

Awful Booked a table for my partner and I and our 3 kids. First off we were over charged our order by four quid. Took them 20 mins to sort that out. Next the food arrived and what a sorry looking meal it was. My partner and I both ordered the steak meal to be cooked medium. His was juicy and pink. Mine was dry, tough and overcooked. The pathetic little mushroom tasted like swimming pool and my partner said the same. The poor garden peas were hard and felt like they'd not been cooked. The chips were well over cooked and hard. Overall the whole meal was dry and so disappointing. So the waiter comes over to clear our dishes and I kindly asked if I could have my dessert now please. That was at 7:40. At 8:10pm my dessert still hadn't arrived and the kids were about to flip their lids. During the time waiting I saw a member of the kitchen come out to behind the bar and appear to make a drink. So where's my pudding? Enough was enough so at 8:10 we got up and left. I stopped at the bar and told the 3 staff members who were chatting there to forget the pudding and to forget a refund I'm off, we're sick of waiting and have waited long enough. I mean come on the pudding was a treacle sponge and custard it doesn't take that long to microwave. Not once did a member of staff come over and apologise for the delay. Four times I've been here now at different times and on different days with different people and I swear to god I will never go back. Save your money, cook it yourself and enjoy.

Staff great very friendly. Had the Home Fried Nachos, I can see what the chef tried but the execution was OK. A few of them were burned, but the other components were plentiful and nice. My wife had the Tuna Mayo sandwich with chips and said her meal was lovely. The staff apologised for the Nachos. I Would come again and eat here but would choose a different meal. The drinks and service was great.

Corporate pub without much character. But clean and comfortable enough. Food was good and served quickly - and you certainly can't fault the portion sizes

Having eaten at The Deri many times and never being disappointed, my friend and I decided to go there for lunch on Saturday. We arrived and we’re pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t really busy. We arrived just after 1 o’clock found a table and ordered our food and drinks, including our desserts as we were on a bit of a time schedule. After a while our main courses arrived and my meal came with potatoes rather than chips. I mentioned this and I was given a small bowl of chips. We finished our meal and waited and waited for our desserts! After about 30 minutes I went to the bar and asked when our desserts would be served and was told it would be soon. Our table still hadn’t been cleared and I noticed that staff were standing talking to each other. After another 10 minutes I cleared our table and left our plates on the bar. I sat back down and waited another 10 minutes before approaching the bar and the same member of staff and asked again about our desserts. He told me that desserts are requested after the tables had been cleared. I pointed out that our table hadn’t been cleared and that I had actually left our plates on the bar! My friend had a phone call from her 13 year old grandson asking to be picked up. By this time it was 2.45 and still our desserts hadn’t found their way to our table! She had to leave. I stayed and eventually our desserts arrived at our table at 2.57! She came back with her grandson a few minutes after that! The desserts, Eton Mess, we’re alright but no where near as good as they have been before. We were not offered an apology or any reason as to why the service was diabolical! We will be looking for another place for Saturday lunch in the future.

I have just left the pub, angry and hungry after waiting for 45 minutes for food which when it came out was inedible. The potato was dry and veg cool. I requested a refund which I got, also the offer of another meal which I didn't have the time to wait for and eat. What has angered me is the lack of customer service, no apology or offer of a drink. My husband ate his but it was not a meal you would expect in a pub. This is not an experience I want to repeat in a hurry. It used to be such a convenient and lovely pub to go.

This was my first time visiting and to be fair they were extremely busy,(around 7.30pm on a Friday)however the service was very disorganised. Once seated it took 45 minutes to take a drinks order and food order. There seemed to be one person taking orders and everyone else appeared to be serving. People were waiting a long time for drinks. Once we finally made our order the food came quick enough but both of us felt the chips were under cooked a little bit. I have been told by a friend though that their takeaway food is very good so it was probably because of how busy they were

Not a pleasant experience. The place was full of children running around. It just had no aura which was disappointing. The food was mediocre at best. The mushroom was burnt so requested a new one which was more burnt than the first. The table itself was so uneven that a full pint of lager (Peroni) slid right of it onto the floor. The duty manager said oh yes, that often happens. To top it all off she said don't forget to leave us a good review. We also saw a deliveroo driver collect food for a takeaway. Does not leave a good impression. We will not be returning.

Popped in for a drink while out walking. Waited a while for drinks, the lady had to ask if we had ordered drinks checking that we had before bringing them to the table. Drinks were worth the wait, the best iced latte I've ever had!

Just an awful sunday dinner and looking at the reviews below it doesn't look like they are learning from their previous customer reviews either as someone had the same experience 5 months ago. First sunday lunch was cold, waitress offerred to microwave it :-O second attempt parsnips were still cold, pale potatoes, microwaved veg - just blooming awful! DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

We visited because of the special offer vouchers which Ember Inns had sent us. It was a fiasco from start to finish. Extremely long wait for food to be served even though pub was not even 30% full. Not enough staff on duty to cope with even a mainly empty pub. When meals were served only 3 out if 4 were brought to table. My friends had eaten what they could of their meals. My wife thought her chicken curry was vegetarian because of the lack of meat. Both of the other meals contained inedible overcooked chicken. We waited and waited for my meal. IT NEVER ARRIVED. So we asked for our money back and left. We eat out regularly at least once a week, and this must be the worst experience we have ever had

Went for lunch and allthough the food was tasty and plentiful we had to wait 45 minutes for it, even tho' it was not busy. It was obvious to us that the staff prioritise locals especially those with 'Tabs' who arrived after us.

In fairness, there was clearly something not quite right as we observed every table complaining! Service was very slow - waited 35 minutes for a dessert whixh when it eventually arrived, looked nothing like the picture. Asked for a refund but walked out after being kept waiting even longer so paid for a dessert I didn’t actually eat. Staff were friendly but clearly overworked. The meal itself was a little disappointing, very small portion and the steak was quite tough.

Just had family gathering after funeral at the Deri Inn. The staff were amazing, the Buffett was brilliant, there was nothing that the staff wouldn't do. We all had a wonderful time. Would recommend this place. Thank you so much.x

Staying in Whitchurch, we found this gem within 2 miles of our hotel. A proper local pub with great outdoor seating and friendly team. Had a fab evening, with drinks and delicious food. Lovely manageress, very welcoming…quiz night was fun, even though we didn’t win!!

Need to obtain reliable staff. Chef on the day was working alone, so there was a reduced menu. Received a call as I had booked a table to explain the reduced menu. However, no mention that all the vegetarian options were unavailable. When food arrived, it was either burnt or cold. Extremely disappointing overall experience.

  • 2/5 Lesley C. 11 months ago on Google
The new menu has taken off several of the vegan and vegetarian items that we would normally purchase. Also liked the fact that there was a separate menu now we have to trawl through the ‘dead animal’ section to find the few options that now remain. We used to go to the Red Kite which is Marstons and closer to home but they did the same as Ember has now done so I guess we have to look for somewhere that appreciates that vegans & vegetarians also like to have a variety of options. The Deri is a nice pub and the staff are very friendly and mega hardworking.

Me & my partner arrived for food today and was served by a lovely lady called Jamie. Jamie was so lovely very polite and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely recommend this place in the future to family and friends. Thank you Jamie for being a fantastic host and going out of your way to make sure everything was perfect. X

Came here for lunch with one family, ordered drinks was fine, the table was sticky, food took over 40mins to come out and not many in the pub either, just had excuses as to why it was so long, then my son's burger came out and it was hard and tasteless he couldn't eat it, chips were almost raw. Tried to order a drink but there was no one on the bar for ages, when someone did show up they were dealing with customers complaint of food taking too long, Such bad service and mediocre food. I would not recommend this pub for anything.

Booked for a special occasion..turned up and limited menu and no Sunday lunch. A phone call about this would have been courteous..then we were sat down with no menus and no idea what to do next and just left by ourselves. So we decided to leave and go elsewhere. In no hurry to ever return.

We visited this delightful pub yesterday, we all chose from the Christmas menu, 2 courses for a very reasonable £18.99. The deli inn is so tastefully decorated, beautiful, homely and cosy with the low lighten and open fireplaces. We were greeted warmly by staff who were all friendly, thanks Ainsley and Annmarie. We were a table of 8 and our table was beautiful decorated with Christmas crackers and good quality red napkins. The food was plentiful and delicious, so tasty, we will be returning, Highly recommend.

Love this pub, it has the most friendly and attentive staff. The food and drinks are great and the staff even better! Rachel is absolutely amazing, she is always there whenever we need anything and always takes the time to ask how we are! We always feel well looked after and super welcome, Rachel also always makes the effort to say hi to our dog which we love. The Deri is super dog friendly and family friendly, never disappoints.

called for a quick work lunch, stuff were very friendly and helpful service was excellent, they did inform us there was a little wait we got there at 10 past 12 and the kitchen opens at 12 so there was a little wait. food was good for the very reasonable price we paid £9.95 for 2 courses, there was a bit of a long wait for the desserts though

We popped in for lunch after Christmas shopping and ordered via the app, the drinks came insanely quick and the food wasn’t far behind. The food was absolutely gorgeous and hot! Staff friendly as always and even better atmosphere with the fires lit 😍

Rachel was lovely, very talkative friendly and helpful. She tried to entertain my bay so I could eat my food whilst it was hot. My friends steak was a bit tough so they replaced it no problems and was lovely and fresh. My dietary needs were catered for as wel ell.

Do not recommend. Food was okay, but not worth 1.5 h waiting time! Even simple fish and chips were rather bad. Half of the options on the menu were not available. The restaurant smelled terribly, literally like poop. It was hard to stay inside but we already ordered so felt compelled to stay. No sorry from the staff for anything, the extra long wait nor the conditions at the restaurant. Also wrote down the order wrong initially, but that was thankfully amended quickly. Absolutely do not recommend.

Lovely lunch time visit with my mum to the Deri Inn. Chose the three course lunch menu (think it was £10.49) per person. Although a limited choice, the food was great and superb value. Staff were attentive and very courteous. Definitely making a return visit!

Myself and a friend had lunch here. Nice spacious car park, quiet location with mature trees, and a warm welcome from staff. The dining room is spacious and comfortable and we found a table for two at the quiet end of the room with no trouble. The room was both airy and cosy, with a real log fire, very nice to find on a damp, chilly November day. The menu was limited, but we both found something we'd like. The food was delicious and freshly cooked and the service was friendly and helpful. We will be back!

Service very slow. We did not enjoy. Arrived 17:00 for a booked table, ordered quickly and food arrived at 18:10. Staff apologetic but no attempt to appease our annoyance. Looking forward to to robotic impersonal reply below that neither acknowledges the poor review or gives any kind or response. Suspect the reply may think this is a positive review. It is not.

The food took over an hour to arrive, we had to ask multiple times for drinks that we'd ordered on the app because they weren't coming either. Most of the menu wasn't available and the app wasn't corresponding to what was available. I paid £11.25 for my burger and it didn't come with chips, just a portion of brown, old looking, undressed salad that I hadn't asked for. If that particular burger doesn't come with chips then the price should be a lot lower. We waited for such a long time and then some items didn't even arrive. It arrived at different times too, half of the table had finished their food well before the other's food came. We were offered deserts to compensate but they never arrived either. I think the food is very overpriced for what it is and maybe that could be a possible pointer?

  • 3/5 Liz 2 years ago on Google
Food was quite good although portions are on the small side. Service could have been a lot better especially as you are not supposed to wander around. Nobody asked if we wanted more drinks or deserts.

My mum, sister and myself went for lunch today for my mum's birthday. Service was excellent, server was very attentive. Food was lovely. My mum's and mine first choice was not available but it didn't matter as there was plenty of alternative choices..We will definitely be back.

We had a lovely evening at the Deri celebrating Father’s Day with our daughter. The food was very good and all very reasonably priced. They had run out of sea bass fillets to go with my Mediterranean salad but the Manager, Olly, couldn’t have been more helpful and organised with the chef for me to have an alternative white fish. Will definitely be visiting again.

Went for lunch with my wife, mum in law and dog. Pub is dog friendly, which was great. Had a cheese and bacon burger. Food was good better than my last visit. Would visit again staff friendly and the fact it was dog friendly was a massive plus, thanks all.

Went on a Friday night with a few friends. The food was really good, would 100% recommend. Had a long wait though, don't know if there were staffing issues but it definitely felt like there weren't enough staff for the amount of customers. Likely a one-off issue. Food was great!

Good menu but sadly we were disappointed with yesterday's visit. £12 for a vegan burger which didn't even include fries but all other burgers did and the roasts were cold, Yorkshire and meat tough - butternut squash risotto only had 2 chunks of butternut in it - vegan burger was actually very nice. Group of 10 of us all disappointed with our food and service despite being very quiet. Disappointed. Sorry to say!

Waited over an hour for food, when food finally arrived order was incorrect. Took over 15 minutes for correct order to arrive. Very rude member of staff asked if we wanted a refund when she brought the correct order to us, then took the food away! Didn't apologise or wait for us to answer about what we like to do, didn't even allow us to have the food we ordered with a refund. Won't be returning.

Well after last Thursdays steak deal which was amazing value for money and taste, we thought we'd try it again. 2 Rump steaks (not our usual cut of meat but no regrets) with a peppercorn and beef dripping sauce...beautiful 😋. Cooked to perfection, fantastic customer service, well done to the Chef and Staff. Thank you for making our Thursday evening even more pleasurable 👍

Visited after a walk with our dogs and honestly one of the best pubs we've visited! Food was excellent and the staff were lovely. Very dog friendly, with lots of other patrons stopping to say hello and give the dogs a fuss! Will definitely be visiting when we're next in the area!
