Went at 3.30... Probably a quiet time. Food wasn't hot, there was a skin on all the separate sauces and the majority of the dishes, the tops of the rice dishes were solid and dry. I work on a kitchen and food needs to be above 65 degrees to kill bacteria..... No way was the food that hot. If I go again I will take a probe and check it

Perfect tasty oriental food for good price. £11,50 per person and you will get quality cooked meals. Meat is amazing with lot of different seasoning. Eat as much as you can. Nice people, good atmosphere.

Always enjoy the experience at shanghai shanghai there is always plenty of food available and it's rare to have to wait more than a few minutes for a table. Staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant is clean and tidy. That said I would be nice to see some variety of the food they offer beyond the extra items for the evening grand buffet. Doing so I feel would justify the price tag. A recent visit cost £51 for two adults and 2 children. Not that bad in comparison to some locations. But when you consider that the children eat very little in comparison to the adults, the price does seems to move the restaurant from a regular eating location to a more special event dining experience.

Large open buffet area with plenty to choose from. Quality good generally and prices good (£13.50 in evening, all you can eat, 2023). Parking expensive in area unless you can get side street space after 6pm.

Went for a meal while on stag. £18.99 all you can eat and a drink. Really nice food. Massive selection of food. Staff were brilliant and even said goodbye as we went out the door. Would definitely be back again and recommend anyone who's in Carlise looking for decent food.

Food was lukewarm and some of the sauces a little gloopy. Although I can't 100% pin it down to the food, I did have an upset stomach (that's the polite term) the next day.

I've been here a few times. Nice. Convenient. Clean. Value for money. Polite staff. Only gripe would be lack of vegetarian options. Mushrooms and cabbage. Nobody likes meat more than me and you get a great choice. But if they had more vegetables just one night a week I'd go more often.

FOOD - Good range of options, however nearly all dishes are vegetable or chicken only (even the "aromatic/crispy pancakes") and the chicken is clearly processed, having the same uniform texture is all dishes. SERVICE - Friendly staff but some avoidable mistakes... e.g. When arriving, I saw pints of coke being poured and ordered a "pint of coke zero", the barman said fine, I paid and sat down, 2 mins later a can of coke zero arrived - when I advised that I ordered a pint, I was told they don't serve "name brand" drinks by the pint and the pints I saw earlier were non-branded cola... Also, I asked for a second spoon but this never arrived. ATMOSPHERE - It has a basic feel of a fast food restaurant eating area, simple but people basically sit, eat and leave, they don't linger after they're full.

I came here with Family and a member of the staff was so rude to my 3yrs old daughter. When she was challenged she threatened to kick us out and promised not to attend to us. Made a complaint to the manager who just dismissed our concerns. The food is ok but I definitely will not be going back. I cannot pay for insults.

Great place to visit and not to busy or a long wait. Not as wide a menu as the last time. But value for money. 4 Stars. Will definitely be back.

Great Chinese all you can eat buffet. Will definitely return. Only fault I found was the ice cream wasn't very nice which was a shame after eating a lovely meal before hand.

After hearing great things about this restaurant I have to say I was seriously disappointed. The soups and sauces were tasteless and very thin and thickened with cornflour. The prawn crackers were stale, the rice was one big blob the noodles were also glued together. The chicken curry was tasteless, the sweet and sour was neither. The lemon chicken was absolutely disgusting. So food was lousy. The staff were polite and friendly the restaurant was clean as were the toilets. Won’t be going back.

Used to be very nice but I have started to notice it going down hill recently it’s ok but certainly not the best It is overpriced for what it is it is what it is though if you wanna try it try it. Pint of coke was £3 the food wasn’t hot It in all fairness is just not as good as what it was.

Pretty standard all you can eat buffet. Okay prices, although they hiked them up over the bank holiday weekend, and good service. Wouldn't recommend it on a weekday.

Best buffet I've ever had. Good food cooked well. Nice selection. Very clean and nice decor. Toilets clean. Very friendly staff. Can't wait to go back to get some more of the best chicken chow mein I've ever had.

Dined here after the firework display this evening. Arrived at 8.15ish and there was already a shortage of a lot of the dishes. Dishes were poorly labelled, and as one of our party are vegetarian, it was a nightmare to try and work out what was available for them to eat (which was very little) we left within 20 minutes of arriving and still hungry (and felt a bit ill to be honest) on the way out we stopped another couple going in and spending their money there. I think they went to the Indians around the corner (which I'd definitely recommend)

The staff are fine, nice and polite, it's self service so the only real interaction you have is paying at the start and them collecting your plates as you go through the buffet. The food was nice enough, although the resupplying can be sluggish. The only issue I had was with the desserts. They are bland and how you make a pineapple fritter tasteless is beyond my ken, it takes a skilled chef to kill the flavour of a pineapple and the syrup was watered down way too much. The rest was actually very good. If they had done what my usual chinese buffet does and stuff some cash and carry bought gateau and cake and custard out instead if that flavourless cake they had out, it would have been pretty much spot on for less actual effort.

There was 8 of us and the average price we paid 4 a soft drink and meal was £16.50...we arrived at 7.30pm expecting a better range of food in the evening...the duck was chicken, there was no prawns, prawn crackers, seaweed, prawn toast etc...by eight o'clock there was nothing left and they packed away the desserts...at 8.30pm they weren't letting any one else in the restaurant, bearing in mind its open till 9.30pm...all in all it was a terrible experienced by all our group...the manager wasn't very helpful either...Will not be going back there...the food they did have was mediocre and bland.

Would say it is what you expect. Okay level food (nothing was atrocious but nothing was insanely good) but with a decent price tag for a meal out and good service. People were very friendly and not overly in your face about taking empty plates etc. Honestly the best part about this place is getting to eat whilst people watching but with really efficient service as a buffet. I have a slight bias as to not being a huge buffet person but went with my partner as she does. So overall it was an okay experience. Would say it is very kid friendly aswell.

Great place. Great food. Hate the fact you can't bring your child in and sit with you without paying. Gave my son a noodle and was quickly approached and told I must pay. Surely under 2 year old can eat free. Other than that it is a nice place for food. It's always hot, fantastic selection of everything too, and reasonably priced

Food was great, plenty of choice, there could be more puddings, not many chocolate ones. At the end of the day it's a run of the mill Chinese buffet place with great coffee. No frills but no shocks either.

Certainly not the best buffet style restaurant I have been to. The first sign that it would be poor was the insistence on payment up front. The food offered was a small selection of chicken and pork dishes that were bland and lacking in flavour, with exception of the chicken curry. All sauces I tried were very thin and watery and the soups were the same. The fruit salad was sour and drinks, as normal in this type of restaurant, very over priced

One of the best I've been to. Good food 13 quid all you can eat .. and boy was I stuffed 😁

Good food & plenty of options to choose from. There are some much better places in other city's but for Carlisle this is the best one.

Absolutely dire place. There was little to no choice of food had all the trays been full. As it was most of the trays were empty or contained dregs. There was nothing resembling a vegetable, just chicken in different sauces. I won’t be putting myself through that again.
