Donde Fidel Salsa Bar

Bar

😠 People are extremely rude in this place. We were obliged to order alcoholic drinks in order to sit at a table. This waiter was especially rude to our table. He insulted our friend and treated us like we were nothing. People often mention music, salsa, bill, good, drinks, waiter, dancing, false, nice,

Nice intimate bar that feels like you are in Cuba. Small space for dancing salsa. Not a great place for dancing if you're a serious dancer but a great place if you want to hang out and occasionally dance.

Fantastic bar and terrace especially for people watching, right by the the main square of the clock tower. Some great Salsa and Rumba music, fantastic service from the waiters and the prices, relative to other bars on the same strip behind the wall, were a fraction of the price you would pay anywhere else. I highly recommend this place for a few drinks.

Extremely loud and tight. Chairs too bulky for the space. Lights too bright. Drinks expensive as there's no cover charge

BEWARE OF SCAM: Fraud is occurring with the Waiters. 2 waiters work together in the Scam. If the owner is reading this, it was to two outside Waiters that pulled a scam on January 1, 2023. The very first day of the year, Here is how they do it. They only accept cash, you hand a real bill to a waiter, he then switches the bill for a false bill and hands the false bill to the second waiter, the second waiter brings it to you and presents as a false bill and tells you that you gave a false bill. When you argue that the bills came from a bank ATM machine, they try to tell you that the ATMs give out false bills. You then have to give them another bill for payment and they keep the real bill that tgey switched for the false one. Truly the lowest form of human, thieves. Owner of this establishment must have NO morals or values to allow this disgusting act of burglary with the lowest form of humans that I’ve ever witnessed.

Good place for dancing but, if you don't want to drink alcohol they will make you leave and treat you like a dog.

Attention! This bar is a rip-off. The prices are much too high for what is offered. A Colombian cheap beer costs 10'000 COP! The sound level is way too high and you can ruin your health with tinitus. The staff is incapable of setting a normal sound level.

Loved ❤️ this place. Great music and amazing atmosphere. It’s a bar with a DJ who sets up in the afternoon. I had the opportunity to meet Mr Fidel. Very nice guy with lots of memories and pictures all around the walls. Nothing fancy, just great atmosphere and good drinks. I suggest seating at the bar.

The rudest waiters I've ever encountered. We finished our drinks and paid for them, and immediately the waiter came back telling us to liberate the table immediately, even though left and right half of the tables were free 😂 What a joke, i advise avoiding that place.

Update: Monday night, all the other salsa places were closed, so we broke down and visited Donde Fidel. We spent our time in the 2 rooms toward the end. Though the doors were open, it was easy finding a blast of cold air. The walls are covered with photos of every salsa star you've ever heard of.. And many that you haven't. Being a slow Monday, we were some of the few dancers, dancing in the Isles between the tables. Our waiter was excellent and found me a very reasonably-priced rum that was very smooth. For a small place with some history to do a little dancing on Monday night, it is ok. But there are a lot better places with live music for Thurs-Sat. I'll let my initial review stand and give them another star. Btw.. They only accept cash - no credit cards. A lot of nothing. No live music. Bar is split into 4 tiny rooms, DJ music is ok, but I expect live music & a dance floor. Squeezing between the tables is no way to salsa. The plaza outside the bar isn't connected, with a street between. Follow the Wall for live music weekend nights.

Best bar within the old town area ... sit outside, listen to Salsa music and enjoy a cold beer and the nice view!

Slightly over priced beer. I assume you pay for the history of the place.

I'm not saying this is a bad bar, but it's clearly over rated. The outside seating is nice, but nothing out of the world if you experience other kind of similar venues. They have quite limited selection of drinks (not even a mojito for a Cuban themed bar) as well. If you find a space and want to take a rest, that's amazing, but nothing worth to specifically come to this venue for a Cuban music, there's ton of venues with a live salsa bands around.

Excellent salsa place in Cartagena, a must go if you're a salsa lover. BE AWARE ! at the time wife and I went, this establishment only took cash, no debit or credit card was accepted. Was told that they are in the process of getting a system hook up for credit cards. Take plenty of cash at hand.

Overrated, came in for a drink and they took my money and serviced me but then shut down the music prematurely before closing, while paying customers were still enjoying their drinks. The place is known for salsa and they turned off the music 15 before closing at 1am. They said they close at 12:30am now. Overrated and taking advantage of too many stars online, now they let those reviews get to their heads.

Friendly and competitive prices with huge indoor and outside terrace. If you want to listen to all shades of Colombian / Latin music come here because it’s loud!

This is a classic location with a bit of fame. The music was far too loud for conversation. Beers double the local areas or more. The walls showcase the famous visitors.

Iconic salsa music saloon and watery hole in the heart of the walled city. Recommended for what is worth.

They pulled the classic scam trick of referring me to a different, more expensive menu (a 75% upcharge!) when I ordered a rosé from the menu that was Taped. To. The. Table.... It also arrived warm and in a champagne flute? 🤷‍♂️ Either way, not sure who hurt them, but there are a lot of bars nearby. Would recommend spending your money at one of those instead.

To come here it is to feel the good music on you all the time, good attention, good place to just talk and talk, and also to dance with your friends and new friends.

A top place in Cartagena to enjoy very good Salsa music, the old city vibes and good beers! This place is just awesome and prices are very affordable so you can spend long time there next to the walls and clock tower.

Place is nice due to the location but the service is horrible and the people who work there are rude. Don't recommend, stay away and enjoy better places.
