I had our wedding guests stay here for our destination wedding in Cartagena. Everyone loved this hotel and told me how perfect it was. They have a great rooftop pool and bar that everyone enjoyed. The restaurant and room service were really good. The staff was wonderful and so helpful with everything our guests needed. The location is great, right around the corner from so many good restaurants and bars, and our favorite salsa bar Donde Fidel was a 2 minute walk. I highly recommend this place for anyone coming to Cartagena (especially on a budget) that wants a great place to stay.

We were treated as family, by a staff that is amazing and caring! It would be unfortunate if I forgot a name so suffice it to say that each member of the staff, from the restaurant or pool or bar or reception went out of their way to make our stay a joy. Probably one of the worst hotels we stayed in during our Colombia trip in terms of price quality ratio. Tiny reception, small room and awful sound proofing. At night you can hear doors banging constantly as people get in and out of their rooms and hallway noise echoes into the room as loud Americans shout in the corridors. We barely slept and left after one night. Beware that most of the reviews on here are for the rooftop bar, which in my opinion is the best feature of the hotel but still not the best one in Cartagena. There are many other boutique hotels you are better off staying in that are much better and at a similar price. To be fair to the staff, they heard our complaints and we ended up getting a 30% refund (which we still haven’t received)

Didn't stay here, just got breakfast. So delicious. Just what we were hoping for that morning. I got coffee, a veggie omelete and French toast. All of it was tasty. The fruit plate was very good good. Tasted fresh and had great portion sizes

Prepaid to use the rooftop pool and have drinks. We were scammed by the bartender as to how much off the cost is prepaid spend vs the fee. We were also told are under the prepaid amount meanwhile we were well past it. Otherwise the pool itself and views are nice.

If you are looking for a place that is walking distance to everything, great customer service, great breakfast, spacious rooms, and beautiful views from the rooftop, this is it, don’t even bother looking elsewhere. We were supposed to stay only 3 nights at this Hotel, and 2 nights in Bocagrande, we loved this place so much that we decided to stay at Sophias Hotel all 5 nights. What made our stay so special was the staff: Belky during our daily breakfast, she is simply the best, along with Julia and Jonny. Deiver, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of, from checking in, looking how to accommodate our two extra nights and tours recommendations. We had such a great vacation in Cartagena, and this hotel was a big part of it. We would definitely be coming back. ,

The hotel is in a excellent location and the staff is great. Mauricio, David, Fabio and Belky and Manwella were great. We would stay here again. Loved the pool. Breakfast was delicious! Rooms were spacious and comfortable.

What an amazing stay here right near the entrance to the old city. Extremely nice staff who always went above and beyond. Buffet breakfast was good, although I wish the food would be a little fresher, however they offer several freshly made options. The rooms are huge, the king bed option having a little living room area accompanied by a decent sized bathroom and shower. Ac in the room provided a nice reprieve from the hot colombian climate. With such a centralized location, a rooftop bar with pool, this is a very good small hotel (about 15 rooms) to stay at

Very nice hotel in a very good location. Staff are very helpful. The pool on the top floor is a very nice rest bite from the heat. Breakfast is pretty good. We did have an issue with the toilet that they tried to resolve a few times but by the end I assumed it was an ongoing problem that they werent telling us as they never really fixed it and. I just ended up asking for a plunger. 😊

Going to Cartagena? Stay at this hotel! The location is located in a quiet courtyard making it ideal to avoid the noise of the nearby clubs and bars. The pool has the best view and the rooms are spacious. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly professional and very very helpful. Thanks for helping us book a car to Barranquilla and for everything else. 5 stars in my book!

Rooftop pool daypass is a must-do in Cartagena. The views are stunning, the staff is kind, and everything is very detail-oriented and relaxing. Price (at time of writing) was 220,000 pesos, of which 80,000 is consumable at the bar/restaurant.

Me and my husband came here for our wedding anniversary in October. The hotel itself is absolutely goegeous, and the rooms are spacious. The staff is very friendly, and the view at the rooftop bar is so stunning. An image that will forever be imprinted in my mind. Speaking of, the rooftop itself is such an awesome place to Lounge after a long day of walking the streets of the Walled city. The reason took a star off is for 2 reasons: 1 we did not have hot, or even warm water in our shower. We had to bathe in cold water everyday. Another thing that really put a damper on the experience is that there was some maintenance going on on our floor and maybe the hotel forgot we were staying on that floor? We had to deal with the smell of paint thinner, and one morning after going to bed late be woken up to the sound of drilling and banging at 9am. Come to see that 3 rooms on that floor were being worked on. Made a complaint to the manager who wasn't on site, but did take the time to contact me, apologize for the experience, and offer a discounted night off. I wouldve taken something more, but i did appreciate it the gesture of the manager, and he did inform me he wish there was more that he could've done (we booked through expedia). Overall, id absolutely recommend this hotel, and would come back again.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Fantastic staff and service. Great location and we we're so glad we chose this over the Charleston and a couple of other options we had. After 4 days walking around Cartagena and going into most of the other hotels, we really appreciated the location of this hotel. Central without being on the crazier and busier streets. Rooftop deck is great for taking a dip to cool you ooff, having drinks, or enjoying your breakfast. Amazing view of Plaza de Aduana, Santuario de San Pedro Claver and the towering Bocagrande high rises. Room was spotless and very quiet. Great internet connectivity and endless TV channel options (full Direct TV package). Being able to have the included a-la-carte breakfast in the restaurant, your room or rooftop deck was a highlight of our stay and made our trip extra relaxing. Can't think of a single con and would highly recommend this hotel to anyoone.

We could not have chosen a better hotel for our first visit to Cartagena. The location was perfect, steps away from restaurants, stores and historical sights but not too busy/loud that you couldn’t sleep at night. Our suite was super comfortable and spacious, it was our oasis after a hot day of walking! The rooftop pool was next door, the cocktails were fabulous & had a breathtaking view.I highly recommend the tamarind daiquiri. A special shout out to Cibeles & Yesica who were always friendly & very helpful. They gave great recommendations & remained patient with my struggling Spanish skills! The Sophia restaurant had a vast offering of top notch food & beverages (shout out to the chefs who always greeted you with a smile). The restaurant was clean, had a beautiful aesthetic and the food did not take a long time to come. We cannot wait to return, until next time 💓 ~Jasmyn Taylor

Didn’t stay here but visited the rooftop bar mid-day and had some cocktails. The hotel is in a great spot. As for the rooftop bar, it was very comfortable, views were amazing and service was good. I’ll look into staying at the hotel next time I’m in town :) Edit- came back for sunset and the rooftop bar was just as amazing! New go to spot for when I’m in Cartagena

A simple hotel that executes well. Clean room and responsive front desk that utilizes whatsapp, so someone can be reached at all times. The hot water did go out at night at 2AM, front desk was alerted, and it was fixed by the morning time.

We went for a quick lunch in the rooftop area.. did not stay in the hotel. Great view and food was good.

Such a great hotel! The location is great, the hotel is beautiful and the staff is the best. We stayed for a night and regret not staying more. The room was modern but yet charming, all you need is there. The rooftop was amazing for a drink and the food at the restaurant was really good too. No questions this is our favorite spot in the city! Forget about big chains, go hotel boutique like this one, you'll see the difference.

Had a Wonderful 5 day stay at Hotel Sophia. The staff was wonderful and very responsive. Whatever we needed they made sure we got it. The property is well kept and our accommodations were very comfortable. Our evenings of the rooftop pool area were relaxing with spectacular sunset views overlooking Cartagena. The property is very conveniently located and we could walk to wherever we wanted to go.
