What a disappointment!! All the beaches on this side of town are DIRTY, smell of PETROLEUM and have men DANGEROUSLY RIDDING jetskis harassing people if they want to go rides. They ride where people including children are playing. Cigarettes, beer bottles, plastic cups, styrofoam. Gross. Then as everyone noted you have the nonstop sellers that are annoying and shorten you trip to the beach from the frustration of having no peace. They come at you like sharks if you have a tourist bracelet from the area Airbnb & hotels. Needs more police patrolling or tourists will not come anymore. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

The water is very nice, but the rest is awfull, as soon as you enter the beach vendors aproce you to start selling chairs, tours, massage, fruit, drinks. And this keeps on for every 30 seconds, until you leave the beach, they do t understand if you say no in a polite way. The sunset is amazing.

The beach is close to the city is not bad is the LOCALS selling things that doesn't give you space orvtime to decide if you want to buy. Also we have a massage at the beach they gave us a price when they finished they overpriced it. They fooled us ,We didn't have enough money and they snatched the money from our hands. Is 5 dark ladies including and old one. If something happened like that just call the police and they will leave

Just to echo everyone else, you will get scammed and harassed on this beach. Don’t go to this restaurant, they will overcharge you. It is truly mini-scamy Miami. Disappointing, no way to get aways from touts and getting ripped off.

The beach itself is nice. However, you will be harassed very hard! Every 5 seconds people are approaching you, asking for money or for you to buy something. It’s the worst I’ve ever experienced in my life out of all of the countries I’ve been to! It’s so bad that it makes you want to leave the beach. They refuse to take no for an answer. When you say no 200 times, they send a friend to ask you!! It’s bad!!

I was skeptical about visiting this beach because of the reviews stating it wasn’t very relaxing but I am glad I decided not to listen and go anyway. Yes there are local salespeople that ask you to purchase merch or services but did not bother me like I thought it would. Nice beach to come and watch the sunset. We brought wine, snacks and a speaker but did not use the speaker because we were enjoying other people’s music around. Come, watch your belongings, use common sense and you should be fine.

Worse beach ever . Brown water , very windy, not clean . THE WORSE now is the vendors and beach sellers . Every 2 min someone come to offer you massage or sell stuff . They are very pushy , it’s hell . Food in beach restaurant are 50 % more expensive than classic cheap restaurants. Avoid this beach

You are constantly being hustled and bothered by people. The servers for the bars are not honest and will shock you with a very large bill at the end with a hand written receipt including a service charge. The massage people will try all types of others services you did not ask for. So it is fun place but you need to be cautious of overcharging and additional services not requested

Totally in love one of the best beaches I've been to in a while and I was born and raised near beaches! The water is the perfect temperature and absolutely clear. There was no tiny fish, no Portuguese man o water or jellyfish, no seaweed, no trash - just absolutely delicious clear and clean water. The waves are pretty big if you're expecting a calm beach you won't find that hear but if you love waves as much as I do this is your place. You can rent jet skis, chairs, umbrellas you'll even have your personal errand runner they'll get you beer and whatever else you want to eat or drink at the beach. Please watch out for the vendors and dont leave your things unsupervised. Some of the vendors will cause food poisoning also the ladies offering to do massages and braids they're a scam dont fall for it. As well as the temporary tattoos it's going to fall off. However, if you take the correct precautions this beach is paradise.

A constant, continuous, endless, unbearable harassment from salespeople trying to sell all sort of stuff. The sea is not great either, just very warm and cloudy water with lots of jetski running dangerously close to the people swimming.

Nice views of the city. But HORRIBLE harassment by vendors. A lotion girl got my hand and wouldn't let go... No matter how many times I said "no gracias". You can't walk more than 30 second without being accosted for one thing or another. Do yourself a favor and skip this beach. Absolutely not worth it.

2 stars for the nice beach for Colombian standards and quite good water at the spot. But for the life of me, I won't ever return because of the constant harrassment of vendors, it's completely out of control and annoying after just a short while. If you think that's a nice feature, you must not have been to this particular beach. Other cities/beaches are far more relaxed. Never felt so stressed on a beach in my life.

If you’re a tourist stay away from this beach. This area of Cartagena is separated from the rest of the cultural town and has very little to offer than the beach itself. From a distance it looks nice with all the high rises but there’s really nothing else. The beach is crawling with people selling everything from sunglasses, massages, and for some reason fake Chanel? My friend and I started counting and we reached a record of 90 seconds before someone tried selling something we didn’t want. Also the place we visited tried charging us for 12 beers instead of the 4 we had.

What can I say other than I wish I had read the other reviews beforehand. Harassment on another level from street vendors, litter everywhere, jet skis dangerously close to people in the water, the list goes on! Twice had a run-in with vendors. Firstly accepted the services of a lady doing massages, after having agreed the price. Tried to scam me for the complete massage at the end. Shame as the massage had been great! Then upon leaving and attempting to pay the agreed 15,000 cop for the sun lounge area I was told it was 50,000 cop. I refused to pay as this information had been with held. They got the got the police over who took their side. An argument perhaps not worth having over a few extra pounds and I should have paid the agreed price at the beginning to avoid the scam. Do yourself a favour and head to another beach with less crowds and much less vendors! Or don't, but be aware of how they try to scam you.

Be careful of Freddie selling umbrellas and seats, will take your money and not give you the change despite an agreed price - tried to find him a few times and would disappear. Only give exact money and don't use Freddie's services.

I'm not giving it 5 stars because the number of salespeople and masseurs is excessive. THERE ARE NO FREE SAMPLES OF ANYTHING. If you don't want to be upset, always ask very well and negotiate rates. Great beach, lots going on and lots to do. Beds for us were $35,000 COP, great views and service by Antonio. My only problem was the non stop parade of street hawkers, I know these guys have to make a living but it was unrelenting even to the point of there being a que to try sell me something.

The beach is reasonably clean, the folks working the beaches are great to haggle and mingle with, there’s fresh fish, drinks, beer, and anything else you might need, and the hot humid weather is great for the beach. The sales can be a bit aggressive but it’s all part of the deal.

Terrible experience: locals would not let you alone for one second as they'll try to sell you anything. The massage ladies will approach you and start immediately massaging you, and they won't take "no" for an answer. The beach is not that great either. Did I say it's a tourist trap? Don't go.

This is one of the most famous beaches in Cartagena, therefore it will be mostly crowded and super windy. Because of that, you will feel many waves. Be careful for all the people selling stuff because sometimes they can over prize the stuff just to earn a little bit more of money

Worst beach I've ever been to. Overcrowded and full of obnoxious street vendors that will harrass and attempt to scam you the moment they see you. The street vendors should be banned from this place as they are incredibly crooked. Avoid at all costs 😡

Beach is very dirty, to avoid the sales people I honestly just had to pretend like I was sleeping half the time. They will follow you back to your hotel if they can. They are the most aggressive I’ve seen and I’ve travelled to a lot of places. Nonetheless it’s a beach so not much else to say.

The water is beautiful and the perfect temperature but the beach has been ruined by people unfortunately. Plastic everywhere, especially in the water (small children are even playing with dirty plastic bottles as there are so many. The beach vendors are also insufferable. Simply exhausting, you will find yourself saying no gracias every 2 seconds and unfortunately some can be aggressive and persistent and they do not take no for an answer. It’s impossible to relax here. Also the drink and food options are unappealing and unsettling as gangs of vendors hang around here and it’s not a safe atmosphere.

The beach itself deserves 5 stars. It is beautiful, warm, calm. With a breathing view of sunset. I'm my time here I didn't find worries about getting stung by jellyfish or nothing alike. The sand and the water are clean, and it is very easy to get here from any place in Bocagrande. One star deducted for 2 reasons: first the people trying to sell you things are everywhere, even in the water! I know this is common in tourist places around the world, but here it was overwhelming, you literally can't get 5 minutes of peace. Second, beware of rats once the sun has gown down. Specially near the rocks. I read those are at a plague level and they are trying to get rid of them, let's hope they do it soon enough.

I guess one of the worst things i did in Cartagena…a massive number of sellers is besieging you!! And they won’t stop during your whole stay! Ridiculous! They should make this beach more quiet by restricting the sellers because the beach itself is so beautiful! I wouldn’t recommend it overall.

Very expensive for chairs and an umbrella + service. Drinks were double the cost compared to any other tourist venue in the old city or Boca grande, which are already high. Not worth the price. Also TONS of venders, literally every minute someone is going to ask you to buy something.. It's too much. Do yourself a favor and take a taxi up to playa Marbella or La Boquilla instead. Or book a day pass at one of the hotels.

  • 4/5 Sarah S. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice beach, lots of families and local folks enjoying the water. 30,000 pescos for a chair and umbrella for the day, which I didn't think was too bad. The waves are really fun, but keep an eye out as jetskis sometimes come into the swimming area. There are a lot of hawkers, however many of them are selling cold drinks and food which is actually pretty nice for the beach. The exception is the message folks, who will come up and touch you even when you're saying no over and over again. I would still recommend going though.

  • 4/5 Alex P. 1 year ago on Google
Lots of vendors trying to sell you something. That’s a given. Decent beach, but Cartagena dumps sewage directly into the ocean, so not sure I’d want to swim here. Looks great though. High-rises in the background make for good photo-ops.

  • 2/5 david w. 2 years ago on Google
Pleasant enough beach, seemed quite clean although it was small this section. However totally ruined by sellers of all sorts literally waiting for you to step on the beach and some on the pavement. we lasted about three minutes and in that time probably might have been approached 10 times. They wonder why there aren’t many people on the beach. We all accept in these countries they are trying to make a living, but there is a limit and a balance to be held.

  • 1/5 Anthony E. 7 months ago on Google
Terrible beach.. the vendors that come from the island of Baru are the absolute worst. They harass you constantly trying to sell you something for 20 times the actual price or rip you off for services like massages. It's a shame that the government and police don't do anything about the situation. Soon there will be no more tourists (and money) because people will be tired of getting harassed. Chao pues Cartagena! 👎

  • 1/5 Dan G. 10 months ago on Google
The masseuses and vendors are like seagulls when you open a bag of chips, they flock to you and won’t stop. If you enjoy nonstop harassment and trash on the underwhelming beach, this is the place for you, if not steer clear. The water is reminiscent of Boston harbor in the 80’s.

  • 1/5 AGG 1 year ago on Google
Horrible beach, was such a let down. You can’t walk 2 feet without a local vender trying to sell you something. You also have to pay for a spot and an umbrella to sit under. If you want to use the bathrooms at any of the restaurants you have to pay to use the bathrooms or you are hustled into buying something there. It was Such a horrible experience, don’t bother coming to Cartagena it’s not worth it

  • 2/5 James R. 2 years ago on Google
Pretty disappointing Beach, vendors are super aggressive and can’t take no for an answer. I get it, they are very poor and need money but I don’t want to tell the massage ladies 30 times a no gracias. If you buy food, prepare to be scammed. I would tip at all. The locals think because you are from america you are a millionaire which is not the case. It’s almost like they think you owe them something. Only positive and why it’s not 1/5 is because it’s sunny and nice
