Location is good - old town (the walled city) is 5 min walking distance. Hotel is next to quite busy street that we liked but if you do not like street noise ask for the rooms that are facing inner side of the building. At the roof there is nice terrace with sun beds. At ground floor there is small coffee bar. Breakfast is nothing special but nice. Rooms are clean and comfy. Shared rooms are also well maintained and clean. They had HOT WATER, that is not too common in hostels in Colombia. The staff is very helpful and ready to help with tours or hints for discovering the city. You can keep your luggage there after check-out if needed.

Couldn’t recommend Maloka more! My partner and I stayed for 6 nights, and were very pleased with our choice. We originally had booked 5 nights, but decided to move our trip up earlier. They happily accommodated, and even transferred all of our belongings to our original room for us. The AC was strong in the rooms, and a nice reprieve from the hot Cartagena streets! We had a private room with private bathroom, and the room was cleaned daily. The rooms have sound proof doors, so noise was never an issue. The complimentary breakfast was delicious and filling as well. The location was perfect— close to everything in the Walled City, and a nearby walk to Getsemaní. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They communicated with us prior to our trip, and helped us with anything needed. I’d absolutely recommend!

It’s not a reliable place. Maloka canceled our reservation 2 hours before arrival, provided a misleading alternative hotel (that led us to spent more for a new accommodation), and up until now have not made any reimbursement (2 months). We also visited them the day after and had no response from the manager. There are better accommodation options and in better areas (closer to the centre) in la ciudad amurallada de Cartagena. Cartagena, though, is a great city. Highly recommended for two or three days. It can be too touristy.

3.5 stars would be more appropriate. This place has a few good things and a few bad things about it. Tried really hard to love it but couldnt. Good things: wifi fast, bed super comfy and big, games like uno and scrabble included, AC is strong, location decent for shops and restaurants. Bad things: weird vibe not very social as downstairs the reception is tiny and all the room are up a narrow staircase to the right. There might be a small social space downstairs where you have breakfast but its not v comfortable its high tAbles with bar stools, breakfast lady had an attitude and took ages, felt like asking for a favour when ordering breakfast, and night staff wasnt helpful, breakfast is pretty poor apart from the fresh juice, rubbish coffee even the “specialty” coffee you pay extra for, bathroom looks dated and had poor shower pressure. A good place to sleep for one night but not somewhere to hang out or eat good food

Visited Maloka today. The attention provided by Jorge was amazing. His conversation level & knowledge of the city was perfect since we didn’t really have a plan. The music and vibe was right! Thank u!

I didnt realize this was a hostel, i thought it was a coffee and breakfast place. Located in the heart of the walled city, the restaurant is spotlessly clean and has a huge cappuccino and coffee maker. I stopped in here for an iced latte and it was one if the best I’ve ever had.

Cool place, very accommodating. The rooms are, tiny, simple and old, but sufficient. The staff is wonderful and the value for money is awesome.

Great hostel, with the perfect location and very attentive reception staff. Nice and clean rooms, and very good breakfast, coffees and cocktails. Definitely coming back next time I’m in Cartagena!

Very clean and renovated (room) hotel with super friendly and great service! The common areas are cute/beautiful! The room did not have a balcony or a nice view but was very clean and comfortable with great amenities. Very convenient location, nice to be next to a supermarket (essential for buying lots of water).

Great location - located right in the historic center but street is quiet at night. Rooms face courtyard and you don’t hear any street noise. Safety - I always felt safe walking home at night by myself. Design of the rooms - a mix of bohemian and industrial style - very bright rooms with little patio or large window. My favorite room is 304 - it has no balcony but a large window. 303 is also great (both are on top floor) Air conditioning cooled down room perfectly and was always working fine. I had it on while away and turned it off at night. Space to dry clothes - either on your balcony or on the railings located on 1st and 2nd floor. Discounts - as it was low season, and because I don’t eat breakfast there, I was able to negotiate a discount, which was very nice. I ended up staying 9 nights Size/comfort - all rooms are spacious and provide a rack for clothes, storage space, safe and bedside table lamps for reading. Service - I got contacted by what’s app before arrival, room was cooled down and TV was on, my luggage was moved from one room to another. loved it! Cafe - there is a coffee shop attached to the hostel where you can get a local coffee with almond or even oat milk. Rooftop - Great little rooftop to enjoy view, read a book, watch sunset or have a drink or two May 2023 / Cartagenap

Great staff, super nice and friendly. The location is perfect. Regarding the facilities, nothing compared to the photos on the website. My room was 103, on the ground floor, you can hear all the noise. The bathroom is very small, the shower door did not close, and the drain was clogged. There is a musty smell and I think the beds have bed bugs and a bit of a bad smell.

The owners and the staff were amazing!!! So helpful and kind and make you feel very welcomed. Jorge makes great cappuccinos and mojitos. They have a little cafe and cocktail bar as well. Roxi is super friendly and always has a warm bubbly smile for you. It is located in a great area where you feel safe and comfortable and able to walk anywhere. I would definitely recommend!

The staff were extremely kind and helpful - when we needed to look for a place for laundry and to store our bags, to fill out water bottles, etc. The breakfast was very simple. The rooms had great A/C and were clean with comfy beds. it was quiet so we got great sleep. The location was central to all the shops in cartagena. This is more a hotel than a hostel - there was a bar in the front but no activities or common area like a typical hostel. I did see lots of ants in the kitchen which made my stomach turn.

Just came in for a beer. Excellent craft beer selection. Very helpful people who went out of their way to help me find my disfunctional airbnb. Great AC.

I discovered malkoa from a travel blogger. I am very glad I stayed here. All of the things you except are here. It's very clean and professional. Maria and Jorge who with here, helped me track down my phone after I lost it down town. They didn't just help me they did it for me. I am very grateful and appreciative. You will never find better staff and management.

Good breakfast, good coffe, Omlet with Arepa , a bowl of Fruit, Natural juice and coffee (12000 cop = $3 USD) You can chose between American Breakfast or Colombian breakfast ( the difference is with Arepa or toast) , Also you chan chose between Scrambled , omelette, fried eggs or boiled egg and cheese the topping. The Breakfast place is also very green and nice.

All was just OK. The only thing not ok was the tour that they recomend us. The tour was extremely bad organised. If the hostel is good they take to work with secure partners.

Fantastic place to stay in Cartagena. The private room was very comfortable and the free breakfast was excellent value. Staff speak excellent English to compensate for my terrible Spanish and are there to help at all times. Perfectly located with easy access to the old town and Getsemani. This is the second place we stayed in Cartagena and it was great

Nice and clean, installations match the economic price and excellent location. * Sound from other places in the building spreads a bit too much, at least in the room I was. Specially in the morning from the dining room.

Beautiful design. Great location. AC. Good breakfast but they don’t give milk for coffee. Also they didn’t give me juice (maybe forgot). The mattress is too soft. Rooms don’t lock, but they have lockers in the room. En-suite shower is nice and clean, but no hot water (as everywhere).
