It was one of the best experiences I have ever had! 💯Great beaches 😍Turquoise water ✅Prices are affordable and food is good PS: I bought a full package in one of the local agencies in Cartagena, make sure you negotiate the price and they include everything-Salespeople here can become a pain if you are not a good negotiator 👎Be careful with the local vendors, they give you “free sample of massages” but at the end, you have to pay for it-Don’t take anything from the local vendors 💯AirBnB is a good option to stay

A paradisiacal beach! It has white and pink sands, crystal clear water that allows you to see the bottom and many colorful fish. Nearby there are pipes with mangroves, water mirrors and underwater gardens. Access to the island can be done by water, crossing the Bay of Cartagena or in the vehicle, crossing the Canal del Dique on a slab or ferry.

These reviews for February 2019. Isla baru is located off of the coast of Cartagena. Is an isolated island which you can get to from downtown Cartagena on a bus for about an hour drive. I am not guilty, to say that I absolutely love the weather and got the henna Columbia. Especially Isla baru where the water is nice and the women are beautiful. I absolutely had a wonderful time. The locals there treat the tourist very nicely. And I really appreciate that. Thank you Colombia for such a wonderful time.

Reviews are All Over the Place. This worked for us! After doing a good bit of research we found that Mamallena Hostel in the Getsamani section of Cartagena offers round trip bus rides to Playa Blanca (Isla Baru). We reserved a space for the two of us the day before and arrived at the Hostel twenty minutes before departure time. There was a very comfortable air-conditioned bus awaiting us. It was about a one hour trip to the beach. About ten minutes prior to arrival, Aldo stood up and announced that he would be our guide for the day. When we arrived at the spot where the bus parked, there was a very large number of locals and tourists. It felt a little overwhelming, but Aldo directed us to a flight of stairs that led to the beach. There was a speed boat there waiting for us. After a five to ten minute ride, we docked in front of a small hostel directly on the beach. They had lounge chairs and a very comfortable deck. The hostel had a full bar and a restaurant, both of which were excellent. Aldo was always available to answer any questions or concerns we had. Most importantly, the beach here was absolutely gorgeous.Blue-Green water, perfect white sand and lots of small fish swimming around. This spot rivaled anything we had seen on our trips to the Caribbean.. We stayed about five hours and Aldo then told us that it was time to go. We embarked on the speedboat again and returned to the bus stop where we went on the one hour bus ride back to Mamallena. The cost for the bus was under $20 US Round Trip. Lunch was $6 US and drinks were very reasonable. TWO THINGS TO NOTE: 1) We do not know if having a guide or a speedboat was a regular occurrence, or if we happened to be lucky that day and 2) We were told that you also could reach this beautiful and quiet part of the beach by walking down the same set of stairs mentioned earlier. Then turn right and walk about 15 minutes until you reach the same area where our speedboat docked. The whole day was superb ! We will definitely come here again when we visit Cartagena next time.

Random in the extreme. Join as a tour and just let it happen. Overwhelming number of people offering you things you’re unlikely to want. Just stay calm and be friendly but firm. Water is nice. Snorkelling is tragically disappointing. The boat trip into the mangroves is a 10m in to hand feed raccoons - very cool but bizarre. The lunch was good. I had a great day but it was random.

Loving how the color of the sea change according with the time of the day in this place. Walk all the way almost until the Decameron and you will find an along, quiet and amazing place to stay the night in a “hamacas” Hostal is cheap over there and the sea is beautiful. Bring some food with you because is hard to find places where they sell it (cause you are far from the tourist). I went to spend the day and I ended up sleeping there cause I didn’t want to go. You should go prepare to stay, you will love it

The beach is beautiful further up than where you get drop off, take the boat ride and way more quiet, had a great time!

Best beach in Cartagena region. Only 1 hour away. We ate probably the best fried fish I’ve ever had in my life.

This is the beach to be at! Yummy food and great views. Rocks at the bottom of the ocean, you may want lake shoes. Take snorkeling gear because this is snorkeling paradise, you could spend all day underwater! Just ignore the sellers, say no at all times and you will have a great time!
