Definitely a most powerful & meaningful experience, with a personal takeaway of Respect & Gratitude for Canada. We had intended to just visit the Vimy Ridge memorial as it is Just Spectacular then go along to the visitor centre where there are some battle field trenches with some restored WW1 tunnels by ourselves. At the Visitor Centre we were greeted by a young lady ( Ella ) who unexpectedly invited us to join a tour that she was about to give. Ella is one of the many Canadian guides (all of whom are students doing work experience). Ella would be the same age as many of the Canadian soldiers who served in the area where we were standing. The tour that young Ella gave will always stay with me. We were guided through the trenches & tunnel by Ella who all the while was able to give an excellent commentary & answer a raft of questions. Thank you Ella you were phenomenal! If I were to make a list of places to visit for a better understanding of the WW1 Vimy Ridge Visitor Education Centre would be the first & last on it. I will be going again.

Incredible war site. Staff are very accommodating, speaking in both French and English. A free tour is offered frequently that guides you across trench networks and underground tunnels created by the allies. Tour guides are very knowledgeable about the allied actions across the ridge. A short walk to the monument is very surreal, as you are able to see the depth of craters and trench lines that cover the entire forest and beyond. I 100% recommend this site to anyone wanting to learn exactly what went on in the Great War.

A fascinating site in the Canadian sector. The site is free to visit and there are Canadian volunteers who provide regular tours of the site and tell you about the history of what happened here. It is absolutely worth doing the tour! There are tunnels and trenches and there is so much to learn here from the volunteers who are knowledgeable and very helpful. Highly recommended!

I visited this monument over 20 years ago, and 8t has always been a powerful memory. Canada has done so much to grow and improve this over the past decades - it was so good to see school groups and visitors there! This place really helps me understand the terrible conditions of war, and the many sacrifices made by all involved. Powerful and inspiring at the same time. My kids loved it as well, since they could experience the trenches and the tunnels. Such an awesome place and a strong memory of those who gave everything!

Proud and honoured to be Canadian. Visited Passchendale and Vimy Ridge on this trip. Rest in Peace to all the men who died for our Country, never will we forget!

Always an evocative place to visit. This time we brought our children and it lrad to some really important questions about modern history, war and the way we treat others.

Got here early doors parked up and cooked at dawn. Then went for a walk around the monument, trenches and cemetery. Beautiful and tragic at the same time.

Moving and amazing few hours. The Candians on site are brilliant, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The free guided tours are a must, not only do you get the benefit of the guides' knowledge, but you will visit tunnels and areas not accessible without an official guide. The museum is small but full of interesting facts and stories, as well as artefacts and photos. The grounds are immaculate, and the trenches are perfectly restored/preserved for visitors to experience. The monument on the ridge is magnificent and worthy of the men it commemorates. A moving experience I will never forget.

What a great tour by Katy from the visitor centre. Cannot recommend this site enough, the memorial at the ridge is something and the visitors centre just backed it up. We arrived just before the last tour of the day. The tour was in french which is fine for my French wife but for me, well that's a solid nod and say yes for me! Katie took the tour and was told I can't speak or understand much at all.. what a legend Katie was she took the tour in French and also in between talked to me about the tour as well in English. Thanks Katie, we also bumped into her the next day as well and were remembered which was a nice touch. Thank you, Well done and good luck in the future.

Vimy Ridge is well worth visiting, especially for Canadians. Make sure to go on a tunnel tour and also to walk the trench lines. The actual monument is stunning and full of deep symbolism.

Very nice visitor centre and restored trenches. During the summer months students from Canada come and give tours in english and french free of charge. This was really informative and I learned a lot. Our guide chloe was great! We also went into the tunnels which gave an idea of what the final hours before the offensive took place must have been like.

The Vimy Memorial is an excellent place to visit in order to pay your respects to the people who fell here. The staff, all students from Canada have an excellent understanding of the battles that took place at Vimy along with the social impact that the events had in the aftermath. The facilities at the Education centre are 1st class, the Memorial itself impressively overlooks the industrial heartland that was so critical to both sides.

The visiting centre was closed for the season. It being December, they close from December to February, which is truly illogical, but it is run by the Government of Canada so don't expect it to make sense. There were lots of visitors at Vimy Ridge that day, so some basic services would help. As a Canadian this was a pilgrimage our family was not going to skip during our time in Paris. We tool the train to Arras and an Uber to Vimy Ridge.
