Super hard to find, in back alley, but we got there (thanks google!) Closed up tight, no sign, no notice. Don't bother with it...

a house of Andalusian music has just been created in the heart of Les Habous, in a traditional habitat, formerly owned by a large Berber family. The latter has been renovated, equipped with an additional floor and a glass roof bringing daylight between the walls of the building. The beautiful cedar wood doors have been stripped to highlight their meticulous carving work. In the instrument room, we discover the fiddle, the mandolin of Italian origin, the four-stringed Andalusian lute and the five-stringed oriental lute as well as the traditional percussion used in this music. Between the instruments, a reproduction of the Delacroix painting has been slipped. This is the Jewish Wedding in Tangier, produced in 1830. Human representations being prohibited in Islamic culture, this painting precisely depicting an Andalusian music group played an important role in transmitting research into this scholarly music.

Very beautiful cultural structure. You can attend concerts on Thursday evenings (between the 2 evening prayers) for 100 dh without being a member. Perfect for people who can't go regularly. The members of the association are very welcoming and share their passion with everyone. I highly recommend.

Dar Al-Malah is a beloved and sacred place because of the Book of God Almighty that is recited there and the praise of our Messenger Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.

😐 Be aware that most of the pictures posted are from walking around the Habous- which is wonderful- but don’t get hung up on seeing the Royal Palace. I took one photo of a door and the guards were after me. There’s not much to see. But if you walk around the Habous there is lots to see and you will...
