Went last night to meet my friend as we were both in town and wanted to meet up. She and her date arrived before us. When we arrived, she said look at the menu. She had ordered water and sweet tea. The water was in a small "shot" type of plastic cup. I ordered a coke and water because the drinks were ridiculously expensive. When the waiter arrived, it came in a regular glass. She asked why did I get my water in a small plastic cup, the waiter was honest and replied we didn't have any clean glasses. Now on to the menus, everything was crossed out, prices were increased, just ghetto looking for a fairly looking upscale sports lounge. We ordered a round of shots, the place was fairly empty and it took so long for the shots to come we just left

DISCLAIMER-Long Review: IF YOU WANT GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE, DON’T COME HERE. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I have never had such a negative experience, ever, at a restaurant until I arrived at Sports One three weeks ago. Apparently, they just reopened on last Thursday (11/29/22), after being closed since May. Three friends and I ordered our food and drinks as soon as the waiter came to our table. At least 3 items on brunch menu were unavailable. We received our mimosas quickly, however it took an hour for 3/4 orders to arrive to the table. We were given continuous excuses about the status of our missing food. When we asked to speak to a manager, there was no manager available in the building. At this point, it had been TWO hours since the food was ordered. The manager finally arrived and became defensive about why the food never came. He offered no update or solution to the missing orders, nor compensation for our table for the inconvenience. We never received any of the missing food- even after the manager finally arrived. We had to ask repeatedly for some type of food for my sister to eat, so she wouldn’t pass out. There were multiple customers there with us complaining of long wait times, cold food, or never receiving their food at all. The building was very cold, as I don’t believe there was any heat running. When we asked for our checks so we could finally leave, one check for an order of grits/salmon bites ($17) and a bottle of champagne ($30) totaled to $101. Our waiter was rude and insulting when confronted about the overcharge. If we didn’t have morals, we would have left without paying. I was most disgusted with the behavior of the manager, who was incompetent and displayed TERRIBLE customer service skills. I highly recommend no one give any of their dollars or time to this subpar establishment. There are much better options in the area.

Last night myself and a business colleague was disrespected, humiliated, and flabbergasted at the rudeness of the only bartender/server working last night. I invited my colleague before headed out on a flight to NY Fashion Week in the morning because I was told Sports One was now open. Ironically it was Peter Thomas who told me on a business trip back from the Bahamas about the closing and staffing issues as he discussed the bad reviews of the establishment. He assured me it would reopen with a new staff and I should give it a try. I don’t live in Charlotte but come quite often on business so this was a perfect opportunity to get some food and drinks at a black owned business and we landed on Sports One. I was disappointed, not only at the server, but also the manager who never appeared even as the server yelled in the back and at us for speaking to the DJ on our way out, her not realizing that the DJ, who was extremely apologetic, had worked an event for my colleague so we knew him personally. As a fellow black business owner I understand all too well how hard it is to be successful. We have to understand our business is only as professional as those who represent us and this young lady should never be the face of what may be a great option over bars like Tilt, Sip, etc in Uptown Charlotte. She was so rude when i told her i came because Peter invited me she said “I don’t care he doesn’t sign my checks!” that i just looked at her and asked “Do you think that whoever does sign your checks would want you to act this inappropriate?” What the lady doesn’t understand as an employee I and other patrons sign her checks as we are the income. Again it was embarrassing, disrespectful, and very uncalled for irregardless of the day she was having or the stress she was dealing with. I wish nothing but good will to this business but evaluation of proper customer service needs to be addressed. For this reason, I will not return and highly recommend anyone I know does not either until a change is made.

Loved the food and the atmosphere. It is a bit small so it does fill up fast for bar seating but you can also reserve a table. Other than that, loved it and will definitely be back!

My friend and I found out they reopened recently and new owners/management. The food and drinks were ok. We were all shocked when we got our check and saw that they automatically add 18% gratuity! No warning, nothing written on the menu or in plain sight. At least give your customers a heads up!

Our first visit to Sports one was about 5yrs ago with no issues but the place has changed for the worse. We ordered water with lemon, two straight shots of Hennessy, wings, a salad & stuffed salmon. After 20mins, the waitress brought the water, which was nothing but sink water in a small plastic cup with a lemon.. the shots took another 20mins.. About 10mins later, the food came out. My husbands salmon was cool, but my wings were pink as Peppa pig in the inside. Instead of sending them back & waiting another 40mins, I just ate the portions that looked safe & dealt with it. We got the check, and they had the audacity to add 18% gratuity.. we paid 98.00 for salmon, tap water, two shots, and pink wings.. They won't see us again.

We called ahead and arrived at midnight after the LL Cool J show. It is now 1a and we have not received our food. We grabbed our own drinks because the waittress left them sitting on the bar. She has never returned to our table. Would NOT recommend coming here. The waitresses seem to care more about the Hookah patrons. Horrible experience, will never return. Not worthy of any stars. Please get new management and waitresses. There was one in a blue shirt that spent more time dancing, hugging patrons and smoking hookah than serving.

This is NOT a TRUE SPORTS BAR! You have a local Professional Football Team and you don’t highlight them at all! NO TV sound, yet playing Hip Hop music with constant profanity and derogatory language indicated the type of audience they desire to attract. Wings were not cooked through, waffles dry. Definitely not worth the price we paid. At least the Mimosas were very good. My husband and brother-in-law stated there was NO paper towels in the Men’s bathroom to dry their hands. Although our Attendant tried hard and was nice, Management was the EXACT opposite. My party are all Managers, People managers that is, and was just appalled at the lack of people skills these managers displayed at this establishment. They were NOT accommodating, displayed nasty attitude towards Patrons was just plain awful. Needless to say, we will NOT come back not recommend anyone to patronize THIS establishment. Thank you.

This place used to be my favorite, but for the past 3 visits my salmon bites/salmon and grits did not come with mango salsa because they were “out.” My breakfast potatoes come late or not at all. Takes forever to get your food. I feel like the staff should make you aware of these things before serving you.

Great brunch! My husband and I had Saturday brunch last week and I took my friends today and really enjoyed it. It's hard to find a Saturday brunch much less one on the weekend from 11-4. And you can't beat $20 mimosas where you get the whole bottle and a choice of 3 juices to make your own at the table! Or you can order a single glass for $6. There was a hiccup where half our party got someone else's food order and it wasn't realized for 10 mins so half our party didn't have anything but the server was responsive and apologetic. The French toast was good, my husband liked the fried chicken and fried egg sandwich on a waffle as a bun. I got the same today. And the chicken and waffles looked good and crisp. The dj added to the laid back, weekend, ready to party vibe. I'll definitely be back!

Staff is super nice, friendly and attentive. The DJ and MC were on point with good music and kept the crowd involved. And the food was great. The dishes we had were far superior to what you would expect at a sports bar and lounge. The Caribbean dishes were very authentic and definitely had a touch of home. The only issue is a small one re reservations and table service. The Google listing should be amended to note that tables are by reservation only and patrons entering the lounge should be asked if you're going to the bar or want a table. All in all, a great spot and highly recommended.

My first time here and they barely had any food. Most of it was unavailable, unknown reason. Although, our waitress was very friendly and apologetic for the food shortage. We definitely tipped her well because this was something outside of her control. We left the restaurant and walked towards our car......saw one of the Cooks outside smoking and drinking. Really?!?

Went there for the first time last week and it was good vibes everyone was dancing and so so friendly but when they came to take our drink orders I ordered 2 strawberry Hennessys and when I tell you it took them an hour to bring our drinks then the food order somehow got lost the time we waited on our drinks ruined our mood didn’t even wanna dance anymore. Service is trash but the place has potential.

I was a little nervous about trying Sports One based off some reviews. It must’ve been a bad day because we enjoyed our visit. Food was delicious, staff was pleasant and the DJ is a nice touch. Try the Fish & Grits! Hittin’!

Atmosphere/ambiance was nice. Karaoke was fun and the drink (black Panther) was delicious. Our waiter (AJ I think is his name) was nice and friendly. Matter of fact, every staff member was nice and friendly and made sure we were comfortable. Food was ok and took so long to come out. Like 45 mins for wings and fries? And the ventilation system needs to be reworked or something. I smelled like I was deep fried when I left. Other than that, I enjoyed the place and will be back.

Ambiance The lighting, the decorations and the decor is very nice. Also, the music was good as well. Food. We ordered the salmon bites I had the plantains, my cousin had the collard greens with her salmon bites. It was cooked to perfection. I wish there was more than 4 pieces per order. Drinks. I ordered the peach sangria, red bottom mimosa, and the queen city martini. The were just ok. Produced not even a small buzz. Service We made reservations to ensure we would have seating. We got there pretty early about 8:30 PM. We were seated on the inside patio portion. The server that seated us said let me find out where your actual server is. She makes a phone call and was told our server would arriving in five minutes. Five minutes turned into 35. We waited so long she went ahead and took our order. About 15 minutes after that, our server arrived. The hookah was a waste because the heating element kept going out, and we barely were checked on. Like I said earlier, I’ll say we got our food maybe around 10 PM. When we left at 1:30 AM our food was never cleared from the table. We did want to order more food but were hardly never checked on, so we decided not to. When we did catch our server and ordered a drink, it took at least 30 minutes to receive it. I will say it was the worst service I have had in a very long time. It was very disappointing because I really want to enjoy our night out, but the experience with the service was a big no for me. I won’t be returning.

Listen we loved this spot. The service was great. Two young beautiful ladies served us. They were nice. Were coming back soon. Oh yeah great music and food too!!!

Myself and three other ladies came in on Sunday, November 19. We set at the bar. Our bar attendent Rachell was rude. She wasn't attentive and was upset when we realized that our sides had to be ordered separately. Seven minutes after ordering our Salmon bites, we ordered steamed mix veggies, mashed potatoes and a house salad. Our sides came out 35 mns later. I tried to cancel the sides because of the delay. Rachel had expanded that it would be a little delayed. I think 35 minutes is a bit much. She also told me that I couldn't cancel my sides even though I hadn't even gotten them yet. The food is ok but there policies are largely questionable. The customer service is horrific. Go some where that value your business. I am over Sport Bar One. Thumbs down.

The owner booted our car and forced us to eat inside to get it removed. Also they don’t advertise that it’s a gay bar, very misleading. Employees were cool

I was actually staying at the hotel across the street and my valet driver told me about this gem. When I tell you their food was amazing. I can tell the cook love what he/she do. I only ordered salmon and vegetables and also greens on the side.

Phenomenal food. Came to watch the college football game. Will be back later for the food. Service at the Bar was A1 and the food was fresh and delicious

I really wanted to like this place as I visited for the first time..I met up with some friends and ordered a drink. Immediately when we saw the drink we noticed that the color of the drink was off. With one sip I would realize that the taste was very off. I tried to return the drink and order another one that was more expensive but the manager sent word through the very nice waitress by the way, that all sales are final. I have never experienced this before at any establishment. If I didn't consume the beverage because it was made incorrectly and you charge me anyway, how in the world is that good business? Very interesting. I will never be back, but I did enjoy seeing my friends so the experience was not a total waste..You should take care of your customers. You never know who you are entertaining when they darken your doors. C'est dommage.

My friends and I came in from Tennessee, Knoxville, Memphis and Kentucky over the weekend... and came in for drinks on Saturday. Nice spot, good music, great vibes! Kesha was our bartender...she was great! We didn't order food ...but, we'll be back!

This spot is nice and the staff is friendly. The DJ was on point with the music and the food was good when it finally came out. Our dinner was delivered in three different times frames over a span of an hour. The waitress kept trying to make a excuse for the lateness but there wasn't any to be giving considering other tables were served at leat 30mins after us and had their food before us. The disappointment was when we spoke to the Manager and he was only willing to take off $5 on a $90 ticket. Supporting a black business is great but you can't slip so bad with no real recovery for poor food service.

Food was good overall. Service needs work (kitchen and servers). This is the order of turkey sausage that was left off the order. Looks like half of a burnt hot dog. Smh

The food and atmosphere was nice. I had the salmon bites, grilled veggies, rice with curry sauce. Everything was so delicious!!

If you have time to kill then this might be the place for you..music way to loud, have to hollar to have a conversation...the food was average, but way overpriced..The service uughhh..yes they are kind but waited over 30 min for a drink then waited another 30 just to pay after getting the check. My water was never refilled and they seemed to think I was suppose to eat with no drink, so another 30 min wait..and then have the nerve to put a tip on my receipt, he didn't deserve a third of what was charged so in my book not worth the WASTE OF TIME

I would avoid at all costs, based on service alone. I cannot speak on the food - after 2 hours, it never came. However, my family members who received their orders described it as "edible." Unacceptable for the prices. Manager in flip-flops, no accountability or genuine apologies. The only explanation we received was they were all tired from partying the night before. To top it off, they thought it was acceptable to serve Hennessy french toast to young children. Don't pride yourself on being a Black-owned business and treat your Black (or any) customers like an inconvenience. Used to genuinely enjoy this place, but I won't return after this last experience.

Super casual spot with covered outdoor seating options. Plenty of TVs for the sports enthusiast. Bar is okay size but seating goes fast. Doubt people go for the food it’s extremely overpriced for such such an establishment any way. Drinks are okay. Strawberry Hennessy is popular, pictured here, and smooth. The $7 fries were mediocre and every plate that came out for every table looked like the bottom of the bag. How Sway??? Overall the sports bar is cozy since it’s not too big inside. DJ only on weekends if at all. Normal nights barely have a playlist going and the music is subpar. Carryon.

Nice staff. I believe parking next door is free in the evenings and weekends for visitors. Food takes a while. I was here with a group and they set my expectations for that. The credit card machine was down, thankfully I had cash... Or I would have to use the ATM to pay for my meal. My shrimp and grits were great. I don't drink, so I had the strawberry lemonade. It had fruit pieces and was very tasty. I enjoyed the music / DJ... I really appreciate someone that can actually mix and blend without yelling on the mic.
