Went to this establishment In January 2022 and the service there was BEYOND terrible, the worst I ever experienced in my entire adult life. The drinks were overpriced and poured heavy with grenadine and syrup and juice. They can’t even make a simple drink. (The lady In the picture I will attach, the blond bartender) was very rude all because I expressed that I did not like the drink that was prepared by her and to please request something else instead. She was so rude that I didn’t even want to order another drink and I did not, she tried to insult me because she stated that I’m asking to replace a drink that one of my guest paid for. If something is not good it’s not good, her input was not needed nor should have been said to me a customer. The music at this place is so outdated and not interesting nor relevant to the times. They played music from the early 2000’s. People were just standing around not dancing because of the poor and boring music choice. We are in 2022. The music was definitely not a vibe. In the end, the same bartender was upset because one of the patrons in my party didn’t tip (which why would you expect a tip from anyone if you been rude the entire time we was there only about 45 mins to an hour) so she lied to the bouncers and said that they need to leave because they were allegedly sleeping at the bar. No one in our party was drunk as the drinks they had served by her was not strong/not good and taste more like juice as everyone stated plus we was only there about 20-30 minutes at that time. I believe they are over pouring mixes for the cocktails and adding less alcohol of what you pay for. She basically lied as a retaliation for getting no tip even though she gave terrible service and had a nasty attitude. The management when I spoke up and said that she lied and to comment feedback about her attitude and demeanor the manager(the short guy with dark hair)and bouncers were very rude and nasty and didn’t even care to listen and I was very respectful to them. The officers who are stationed there were of no help and knew they were wrong and even expressed that to us but still choose to not do anything because they are on the club payroll, basically employees so no help was offered, they are off-duty officers. They whole staff/officers basically escalated the situation with their unprofessionalism. This establishment does not listen to their patrons who keeps them in business but instead are choosing to stand behind and co sign the poor behavior and lack of customer service being offered by their staff. So if you have any complaints just write a review and leave and do not return. As people of color we felt discriminated against because at the time we were the only people of color in the establishment. I would not recommend this place to anyone! Spend your money elsewhere, and I mean anywhere else in Charlotte.

This place has changed for the better. It has been some time since I have been here. Under the new name/ownership it is now great! Bartenders are attentive, courteous and all around great at their craft. I'm not sure how someone could give Jamie a bad review?! Jamie was fantastic! Music was on point (no it wasn't too loud) great crowd and just an all around excellent environment. I would recommend to anyone!

Not a safe place if you are a female. A friend was overserved at the bar and assaulted after hours by the bartender, and has a restraining order accepted based on the police report and images. The owner has been informed and continues to employ this man. There is no reason someone with a pending charge of this nature with a customer should be actively working and serving other females rather than atleast being put on leave. Stay safe out there ladies.

This bar was part of the many establishments participating in the Halloween bar crawl. The crawl was poorly executed (which is a different story), but this specific bar was the icing on the cake. We were told (through the crawl instructions) that we could hand the quarter given to us to Union Staff and receive a free "Welcome shot". When we tried to claim our shot, the bartender (smug guy in glasses) was ridiculously rude. First he said he didn't know what we were talking about (which was fine) but then when he came back to us, we couldn't even request a drink before he dismissed us with a wave of his hand. Just poor service. I understand bartendering is difficult, especially on busy nights like that, but that's no reason to be rude. You don't have to worry about us coming back!

Came here with some coworkers. Super aggressive bouncers wearing like wrestling gloves basically was attacking people. Watched them knock a guy out unconscious who posed no threat. Disgusting. You could tell he gets a hard on trying to attack people. Dereck chauvin vibes. wearing gloves looking to punch people yikes. Don’t go here late night. The only reason to be wearing gloves like that would be to protect your knuckles because you plan on punching people.

Everything was great until I went to pay my tab in cash. Which was fine until I check my online banking and realized that this particular bartender ran my card, also. Brought it up the next time I came in and was told, simply to handle it with my bank. Either way, the place in general is fine. But watch your tab with some of those bartenders. We're not all 21 years old and stupid! Fortunately, I know who it was and she'll never get another gratuitous dollar from me or anyone else I know that goes there. That's just how it works!

Place used to be one of my favorite bars, new bouncers have ruined it. One wouldn't let me get a water from staff, had to wave over one of their bartenders to ask for one. He made the bartender go outside to give it to me. Then another time the same bouncer wouldnt let me walk out with a water. To the owner Bart, cut out the cancer, not doing any favors for you.

We love this place it’s our number one but tonight we were kicked out for no reason the bouncer in the corner near the pool table had it out for us my friend slightly stumbled once and he made us leave. I feel if he can’t handle more Than that he shouldn’t be able to be a bouncer here and the union should do something about it. He is ruining the experience for patrons. I will share this with the meckleburg commisioners next week.

On my cloudiest days and highest nights, the Union has always been there for me. On my brightest days and drunkest nights, the Union has always celebrated me with courteous and attentive bouncers, beer pong, darts, jenga, and Wii Sports. When I forget my inhaler, Jake is selfless enough to let me use his. When I forget what drink to order, Michaela miraculously reads my mind. When I need music advice for the drummer of my band, Jacob graciously blesses me with a beat box performance. And finally, when I don't feel like a babe, there's a wall that reminds me that I am one. Cheers to the Union! Live laugh love union (but please play more 2023 kesha)

I go there fee times a week, not weekends to kill some time after work. Its my favorite place for me and some friends to play billiard 🎱 and some darts 🎯. The music is nice depends on when you go and what day. On Weekends is over busy and super social-spot. I made few friends from there actually and it has such a beautiful vibe. Highly recommended for the week days spost since its the best only spot thats open during the week.

I love The Union! The bartenders and security staff are all super friendly, attentive and great at their jobs! They really get to know you and remember your drink order! Seems like everyone is a regular. The music is fun & the djs are always a vibe. 10/10 recommend! The Theme parties they throw are always so much fun! They also throw monthly beer pong tournaments too!!

Came here to meet up with some friends on Friday night. I have never been before. I was surprised it was a lot bigger inside than I thought. They do have games such as two ping pong tables, dart board, jenga, cornhole and various other little games. We only stayed for about an hour or so. We arrived around 8:30 pm, which was early and a bit dead, but we had another place in mind, which is why we left. I feel like after 10 pm, it does get livelier and would be a good time if we ended up staying. I will definitely come back and see how it is later in the night. The bartenders were nice, and we had no problems with the bouncer at all.

The Union is absolute trash. Service is horrible but not only that, they racially profile at the door. So for most of South End this doesn’t matter because the majority is white people. When I go by myself or if I go with another white person, I get in perfectly fine. Anytime I try to go with my boyfriend who is Hispanic, the fat white bouncer tells him his ID is fake and won’t let him in. Not only is it NOT fake but he takes a .05 second glance at it and deems it fake. Never bringing any black light to look at it, never asking anyone else to look at it, or more importantly the police officers right outside the bar. Only his one very very very quick glance. So yes, for the Brittney’s and Chad’s this place is for you. For any person of color I would advise to be ready for an obese white man to turn you away at the door. Also he plays Candy Crush on his phone rather than trying to get business for the bar he works for. Good luck doing that for the rest of your life.

The bouncer with the goatee denied my REAL ID (I am 22 years old) and refused to get a second opinion or black light/scan my real ID to prove it’s authenticity. I’m not sure what his problem was, but it’s embarrassing that the union’s bouncers can’t tell a real ID from a fake one.

As a business owner I don’t like to leave negative reviews, however this place deserves it. On weekends night my friends and I came to this bar and spent 1,5 hours spending money at the bar. The last call was made and everyone started leaving. I decided to use restroom since it was 27 minutes before I get home. The security, Afro-American older man, was really mean to me, insulted me about my age (saying that I m 50 years old, when I just heated my 30th and look even younger!), and didn’t let me use restroom because it was 2:04am as he said and “they were closed”! As Ally's Law, or the Restroom Access Act, allows people with certain medical conditions to access a restroom if they have an urgent need to use one even after working hours! I know that sometimes securities act like they own the place, but I highly advise the owner to only hire people who has some manners and respect to the guests who spent $386 at the bar! No desire to come back because my Health is my priority then somebody’s attitude!

The 5’8 bouncer with dark hair and the classic 22 year old beard freaked out and kicked me out for having fun and was very insecure about my experience meeting and having a great time with people at the bar and his friend with gauges about 6’1 hyped him up and let it happen. I haven’t seen such a disgusting ego trip since 5 points South Carolina. Don’t go here unless you are expecting the same experience

Waste of a great location! Getting frisked down at the door by punk power hungry bouncers. Super uncomfortable for a nice area of charlotte. Place is full of sketchy people that need to get frisked. Place has no identity. Really look forward to the turnover of when this ghetto dump gets turned to its potential!

This place has the most diverse crowd I've ever seen. Some nights it's a frat party gone wild, other nights it's a mix of gay pride and bikers. Everyone seems to get along and have fun! It definitely seems to be the bar you go to after the other bars. The music is always good and the drinks are great. Staff is nice, the female bartenders are beautiful, the male bartenders are hot! The security staff is easy on the eyes too, hiya Mr Blue Eyes! :)

The bar was fun, music was great. I tabbed out, only 1 tab, and tipped. But somehow, another charge of $46 came out of my account. A girl I was with had an extra $30 taken out of her account too.. seems like these bartenders are being sneaky.. I won’t go back

I love this place because of the people. From the bouncers to the bar tenders I always feel most safe and welcome. It’s the friendliest team and I enjoy coming just to see them. I know I’ll have a good time and not worry when coming to the union.

A simple, no frills college style bar. Cheap but good drinks, a lively atmosphere, some common bar games to keep you and your party entertained and a decent selection of liquor. Honestly, a great place to go for a casual and lively night out. The staff was attentive and the venue was in good condition. We had a great time and I hope you guys will too!

Normally empty unless it’s after midnight. At least 3 days a week at 2am when they close, people decide to scream and start fights outside the bar. Very distributive. Still distributive. Now the food truck is parked on the sidewalk of east Bland and the generator is going til 2am. If they keep it on the sidewalk (by the light) I will be file noise complaints. Please move it back to the south blvd side

👍 This was our first time at Caroline's Oyster bar and to be honest it underwhelmed. Now does this mean it was a horrible dining experience? Of course not. We gave it 4 stars!
