Not sure why there are high ratings for this spot. The lobster roll was the WORST I’ve ever tasted. I saw the lobster in a Tupperware container. I’ve traveled to over 75 countries in the world and believe I know what good food is. Maybe this is good food for PEI. Who knows. The fries and spicy garlic dip were decent though. The shack is on the water with a nice view and great little area to walk around before or after your meal. The girls in the shack are friendly and the food took about 10 minutes.

The bread was barely cut to slide in a tiny bit of lobster so it looks full at first glance but then realize you paid for bread. Fries were over cooked. Disappointed

I have tried the lobster roll in several places in the Atlantic and, this is the best!!! No lettuce, just lobster, house sauce and a soft, fresh and delicious bread!

The person inside the store, she is very rude and arrogant, me and friends ordered lobster roll & fries, which is $ 21 you will just get a small hot dog size bread they will add just 1 1/2 tablespoons of Lobster just like you adding a mustard sauce to your hot dog and Fries are over fried and we were not able to eat,I can feel the burnt smell from the fries. It’s not worth the price , don’t waste your money and consider some other places near by. This was my first time eating a lobster meat and I hated it , so disappointed.

We were really looking forward to this after a long drive from Fredericton. Ordered 80$ of food for 5 people. No credit only debit or cash because apparently "small businesses prefer not to take credit". 1 lobster roll (19$) 1 lobster poutine (24$) 1 gluten free fish and chips (12$) and 3 hot dogs and fries (18$) and a beach chair lager (7$). The lobster roll and lobster poutine was all filler no lobster not sure what was in it but didn't taste like lobster (though there were some small pieces of lobster scattered through to legitimize that it was indeed a "lobster roll"). The lobster poutine was way too salty and cold to melt the cheese curds. The hot dogs were for the kids and were what you would expect from a boiled hot dog on a fresh bun. The fish in the glutten free fish and chips was the best thing we ordered. The French fries on their own were good but nothing to come back for. The owner, lady with black hair and large hoop earrings and tattoos (?) who was working there was in a really bad mood shouting at people to pick up their food. Overall sad to say a very disappointing experience.

It was our last day on the island and it was very windy (end of may). There was just one lady in the shack and she was friendly. As we greeted her and talked about the weather, she suggested to maybe eat somewhere with indoor dining area but we said we came to try her food. Anyhow, we got the lobster roll and chili fries. The lobster roll was just a mix of lobster chunks and shredded lobster, no lettuce nor other vegetables which was amazing! The fries was delicious too, whatever was in the chili was wonderful.

I would rate The Chip Shack as a 3.5. I was greated by a happy face that took my order and name and said they would shout out my name when the order was ready. Four of us found a table with sun shade on the floating food court. All around the table our food was about good. We had fish and chips and a lobster roll. Good friends and wonderful weather on the water made the experience pleasurable.

We shared a meal here over the weekend. The food was fast, hot, and sensibly priced with the chili dog and fries at $9. These were some of the best fries I have had in ages with very tasty gluten free apple fries as a dessert! My son cannot wait to go back

Portion sizes were large, plenty of food, and the prices were not too bad. There was a problem paying for the food, and the woman working wasn't very helpful and seemed a bit distracted. The food came within 15 minutes and was fresh and hot when it arrived. The fries were definitely made to order and were delicious! As was the fish, hot dog, and apple fries. There was lots of seating around the shack, and plenty of other options around If someone in your party is picky.

Great little spot! The vibe of this place was super positive - with lots of lovely outdoor seating - and the people working there were super lovely :) Lobster roll with fries for only $22! Coming from Toronto, I was certainly expecting a higher price point, and was pleasantly surprised. The roll was a bit smaller than I would expect, and a TAD dry (lacking mayo imo), BUT AGAIN, the price was at least 6$ cheaper than what I have seen elsewhere. And the food tasted great! Well seasoned lobster, buttery crispy exterior on the bun, and the fries were perfect! I would come back again for sure :)

I am missing seeing the owner who used to essentially live here. But it’s good to see that she can take a break every once in a while and trust her staff to do an excellent job just like her. Everyone was professional, friendly, and helpful. The food is great, the homemade french fries with their homemade garlic dip is a must. I’ve been here before and I will be back many many more times.

We got the lobster roll and fries. The fries were really crispy and well salted, and the lobster roll was also quite good. The bun is buttered and grilled which I enjoyed, and the location of the place is truly vibes.

Staff was patronizing and rude. I say "staff", but it was the owner who served us. The lobster roll was a joke - hardly any filling or flavour. I've had lobster rolls all over the maritimes and this was by far the worst, especially considering the price. Fries were okay (that's the one star). Honestly I'm shocked that it's still in business. Truly taking advantage of the lovely location and unsuspecting tourists.

I saw this place on the TV show "you gotta eat here" and made sure it was a stop on our travels. It didn't disappoint! The lobster rolls and lobster poutine was amazing! Well worth the $! The ladies behind the counter were pleasant and made you feel right at home. Would definitely come back!

The owner calls herself the Queen of fries, and she's probably right. They are the best I've ever had. She says her secret is using the local island potatoes and showing each one love before cutting it up. They don't have the normal mushy texture you get with frozen fries that virtually every eatery uses. Ours were cooked until they were almost crispy on the ends, and while it is surely up for debate that they are the best in the world, they are delicious. The location is right on the water.

I have to edit my initial review. First time was good, second, a disaster. Everything was burned, extra piece of fish 10$ out of 12$.... We skipped our go to place to come back here, and to get disappointed. No to mention the distance we traveled and were looking forward to the different batter on the fish. Lesson learned. Advice, if you have a go to place to eat, stick to it! If you want something different this is the place. The fish has some different batter, in a good way. Fries seen to be the real ones had cut, and wild fish as well Pulled pork poutine was good too Good customer service . We recommend it

Ordered the lobster roll, fish sandwich and a beer. I believe the lobster roll was $24, the fish sandwich was $14 and the beer was $8. Overall, the lobster roll was okay but didn't come with full chunks of lobster. There were a few chunks with shredded lobster. The bread used for the rolls was very good. The fish sandwich was also okay, and the fries were tasty and very crispy. The staff were very nice and the shack is located in a great spot.

It’s unfortunate because the lady working there is very nice, and I wish I could say better things. However, the food is awful. The fries are ok, but nothing worth going there for, but the pulled pork poutine… was unbearable. The sausage is advertised to be a local, however it tasted exactly like one I’ve gotten from Walmart, it was fine, but again not worth $7. I recommend the food hall, lots of fresh, local, and quality products!

I’ve been here multiple times as I’m from Charlottetown. The owner is an amazingly high energy beautifully kind person. She has chosen her staff very wisely, and on the odd time when she’s not there they take over seamlessly. The food is amazing. The lobster roll is incredible. My absolute favourite is the homemade french fries with the yummy yummy garlic dip. Keep up the incredible work guys. Look forward to seeing you each year, I will be back over and over and over.
