We thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The food was well prepared and presented. They put extra effort into the ingredients ensuring appropriate balance of flavour. For starters, we ordered cocktails. I had a Donnie Out ($12) and they made a custom sangria ($12) for my wife. We then shared the crab cakes ($18) which were very good. The main plates included generous portions and good nutrition. I felt full, but that I had made a good nutritional choice. My blackened salmon was accompanied by a delicious salad with a fresh strawberry and goat cheese theme ($31). My wife had the potato crusted haddock which had a lovely sauce and was served with layered baked potatoes and roasted vegetables ($27). For desert, we shared a berry sorbet which was the perfect finish. The restaurant is quite small, but cozy. It is not really suitable for families with young children. The decor is simple and circus themed (all of it crooked, if that sort of thing concerns you). They have an interesting history on the back of the menu which goes with the theme. It has a relaxed ambience with modern background music. We considered this a good value for a three course dinner for two with drinks at $126 before tip.

Hands down, the best restaurant I have tried on the island. The food is exceptionally good, and the service even better. Best dinning experience for me. Reservations are hard to make but they have a patio you may get on without a reservation. Huge 5 star recommendation from me.

Absolutely outstanding stay here. The roomd, decor, restaurant/food/cocktails are supreme - but above all the service from every single member of the staff was impeccable. They made us feel like friends who were staying in their home. They anticipated our needs, from coffee service delivered to our room, brunch reservations, a couple seats for cocktails when we arrived, and delivered it all. We wanted for nothing. Rooms are comfortable, location is excellent - 10/10 would stay here again and would recommend to anyone!

Beautiful building. The decor is wonderful and the vibe is welcoming, cozy and romantic. The cocktails were the best part of this experience. The tenders are experienced and very capable. Their house-designed cocktails are well mixed and creative. Requesting a classic or an off-menu cocktail goes over well and they happily accommodate. The server was wonderful. Food came quickly and was presented very well at perfect temperatures. I guess the only reason I am not giving a full 5 stars for food was the richness. I had the chowder and crab cakes, but both were too rich to be able to finish. Flavor was great! But it was too much. The bacon jam was a bit too sweet for me and the chowder seemed maybe too reduced? Not sure, I'm far from a chef! None-the-less, we will absolutely visit again. We love the vibe at this location so it's a favorite when we are in Charlottetown.

We liked here so much we went twice during our stay in Charlottetown this time! The food is fantastic! And the ambience superb. We sat at the bar both times and enjoyed it immensely. The crab cakes and bacon jam were AMAZING! Also highly recommend the lobster bao, seafood chowder, tuna tacos, and the tuna tartar (special feature). Delicious!

We had breakfast here and highly recommend it. I'm a picky eater and didn't want anything on the menu so they happily made me a total custom order. It was delicious. My wife said this was one by far the best meal she's had on this vacation. The servers were very pleasant and friendly.

A waitress in Halifax, who was a PEI native, recommended Slaymaker & Nichols. We were so lucky to get that advice ... it was a 10 star experience! The charcuterie/ cheese board was creative to a whole new level. The cocktails were the best ever, especially the customized Amaretto Sour. This is the best restaurant in Charlottetown, without a doubt!

Don’t hesitate, just go. I have not had more fresh, unique, and stunningly delicious food in the maritimes *in years* before going here. It beats many high end restaurants in my home town of Halifax, and without the pretentiousness or inflated prices. You can tell the people working here love what they do, and it shines through in the food and cocktails… omg the cocktails!!! I will be dreaming of this place until I can return, absolutely wonderful 10/10 experience

Wow! Very cool aesthetic and vibe. Enjoyed the antique decor. Intimate space with great music. Love the idea of the heaters in the patio. Treat yourself to the PB&J old fashioned. You will not regret it. So smooth and delicious. Also comes with cookies, so you could save it for an aperitif. Lobster Bao (amazing idea) and the chowder were both so flavourful.

Absolutely incredible food and drink, and our server (Laura?) was so entertaining. I had the spicy tuna tacos and my friend had the salmon, and the Water for Elephants cocktail. The attention to details and unusual pairings really wow’d us. We wish we were in town long enough to try everything on the menu. Thanks for a fun experience!!

Wow! Such a wonderful experience. One of our favourite dining experiences ever. From the moment you walk in, to the end of service is A++. Little touches such as wiping the table quickly after the condensation from my drink or the blankets beside each seat outside does not go unnoticed. The entire crew cared about each moment we were there. The food and the drinks were amazing and we were so happy to spend our last night on the island at this restaurant.

This spot came recommended by a local so we thought we try it out. It’s in a old house north of city center and we were able to park on the street nearby. It has a few guest rooms upstairs. We were able to secure an early reservation in advance. In hindsight we probably should have sat in the bar as the table we were seated at was a runway to the kitchen and was quite noisy and lacked any intimacy. Our server did a good job. Attentive but did not rush us at any time. We ordered two cocktails and we got our appetizer before the cocktails. Cocktails were good just a little on the small size especially for the price. The waiter recommended the prosciutto wrapped halibut as the chef had won awards for it so I chose that. Partner had the scallop appetizer. Food also came out faster than the cocktails. The halibut portion was good and the accompanying vegetables tasty. With out the prosciutto the fish flavor would have been average. Scallop we’re cooked perfectly. Nice overall experience.

From the moment you step inside, you can feel the beautiful history of the building. The service we received from the instant we got here was amazing. The staff are all so helpful, thoughtful, and caring. Every detail on your trip is thought of and cared for by the staff. Making sure you have the dinner reservations you'd like, ensuring that you have the choice of either breakfast in your room or a spot at their brunch. There is nowhere on the island we'd rather stay for a romantic get-away. We can't wait to keep coming back.

The pesto linguine with chicken was really good. I did find a small bone in it but I didn't choke so, no harm done. My wife had the steak tacos and she enjoyed them. We were there during happy hour so the apps were half off. We tried the crab cakes and even at 50% off they were not worth getting. We didn't taste the crab at all. They were mostly potato. We also shared a charcuterie board. The wild boar sausage and blue cheese were my favorites but the whole board was good. The servers were excellent. Overall it was nice, and I'd recommend it but skip the crab cakes!

I can’t give this place five stars because, if seated at the booths near the bathroom/kitchen, the atmosphere is just not good. There are always people brushing past you, it’s quite loud, and if you’re seated with your back to the rest of the restaurant it’s not very enjoyable or relaxing. I think some renovation needs to take place because those seats very much deter from the overall experience. Despite that, servers are always polite, the food comes out moderately fast, tastes very good, and the prices are reasonable.

We went for lunch, had the chicken pot pie and the chicken sandwich. Everything was tasty. My only suggestion would be to give a smaller portion of the chicken pot pie (2 instead of 3 rolls) but add a salad next to it. It was too much of the same taste after a while and a vinegary salad would have been a great addition to that plate in terms of flavours. The chicken sandwich was a very well balanced plate with a delicious side salad.

Fantastic experience.. great service and very good quality food and cocktails. We had he tuna salad and the burger with a side of fries. Both cocktails were amazing too. Nice patio outside and overall a 10/10 experience.

Slightly disappointed from the prior reviews. Overall good experience, but not excellent as we thought it would be. Seated immediately. Service was decent but waters were left empty until we asked for a refill with dessert. Menu was excellent and we found flavors and presentation to follow that excellence. However, execution was slightly off on each item. Each of our six cocktails were on the very sweet side. Crab cake was mostly potato and over smoked. Scallops were slightly overcooked. Carrot cake cheesecake was almost all cheesecake and seemed thin and lacking. That being said, food and service were average to above average, and we would give them another chance.

We stayed for 7 nights in August 2022. The room was fabulous, the service was superb - friendly and genuine. The restaurant is excellent - we dined there twice during our stay. The cocktails are great. Great, quirky breakfast trays. Wonderful decor throughout. The location is also great for the busy centre of town. A really lovely place to base ourselves to explore the island.
