Been with this gym for a few years and they just recently refurbished it. To be honest, I preferred it how it was. The cardio machines are all squeezed together now in less space and facing weird directions. No uniformity any more and everything seems just randomly placed. The gap between some machines clearly doesn’t consider that Covid is still a thing. One cleaning station is in the most bizarre place, barely accessible being positioned near the treadmills. The cleaning of the gym is hit n miss and often the cleaning stations are overflowing with used paper towels. A few new additions have been made but overall I am disappointed with all the weeks of fuss for small returns. So many machines still don’t have enough spare/extra weights on them after the so-called upgrade and despite the promises. One nice thing is the windows have been stripped off the plastic layers so now there are better views of the outside and more light. The studio upstairs is a welcome space to train. The classes were better held upstairs where their music upon gym music is just one huge cacophony!

Terrible place to train… I had some one take dumbbells from behind me while doing a super set. Also people literally stand in your training space with no awareness of others, no one puts their weights away. Members generally have ZERO ETIQUETTE! The final straw for me was the upstairs free weight air-con was broken making it the most uncomfortable place to train. I only give 2 stars as cleaners are great and are always seen to be keeping the changing area tidy. I’ve cancelled my membership for a second time, I returned hoping it was better. I was wrong….

The gym is not a good gym unless you want to sit on a machine. The upstairs weight area is chaos and is uncomfortably warm due to the heat and humidity. Some of the actual free weight equipment is bargain bin, the KB have 4 weights to select from, 8, 12, 16, 20, this would not be that irritating if they were decent KB but they are not. The men's showers when I have used them have been unclean.

P.T and Staff staring you out while your working out, as they walk past, makes you very conscious, no smiles, 1 staff member walking around like he owns the place. I'm partially deaf in both ears, and despite having my head phones on full volume I could still hear this morning's class above my music. There is no need to have the music that loud. Also everytime I tried entering my pin to leave, someone would come in, took me 5 attempts to get out. The gym has a general hostile environment about it. People invading my personal space while working out, the gym is so cramped that people are working out on top of me. I'd hate to see this gym at it's busiest. No one smiles, this is not the gym for me. Seems everyone is miserable or has a massive ego. Not the gym for me. Applied for a 3 day pass on offer for free. One day was enough for me. Won't be returning.

It's always been a problem with the size of the free weights area upstairs. But the main reason this is one star is the air con upstairs has now been broken for a couple of months with no sign of being fixed. It gets too uncomfortable and i have to often swap my work out around so I don't spend too long upstairs. I'll change my review when the air con is fixed, if I'm still a member.

Unfriendly staff and unwelcoming atmosphere. Multiple times the PTs working there have taken weights off of the machines I’m using while I’m still on them. Upstairs free weight area is unbearably hot and humid as well as being a mess and none of the weights are put back in the right place. It’s usually dumbbells and plates all over the floor. Staff will tidy weights while I’m using them but leave unoccupied equipment with weights left on them. Would rather pay more and go to a place where I feel welcome and not judged.

Equipment always broken or out of order, and in the last 2-3 months the gym has just become dirtier and dirtier. The toilets and showers are disgusting, like honestly VILE! As soon as the month is up I’m switching and not coming back. This gym really let itself go and it shows.

There’s a good amount of potential for this gym. But it’s destroyed by the horrible air conditioning and the genuine dirtiness of the gym. First issue and main issue is the horrible air conditioning, it’s almost impossible to train properly without absolutely drowning in sweat. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for the gym to simply install new and working AC. This is a simple fix and would really go a long way into improving this gym. Secondly the gym is just kept untidy, for example the toilet facilities are unclean and disgusting. Also a common issue I see is tissue paper just being thrown on the floor everywhere. Another small but easy fix that really puts this gym down is the fact that they never re fill the hand sanitizer station. It’s these small but fixable things that really ruin the gym, especially the lack of air conditioning.

This is the worst pure gym I’ve been to. There isn’t a free weight bench or squat rack, the incline press has no weight rack so plates are laid against a wall. The dumbbell selection is dire (2 - 10kg) (12.5 - 20kg) and there aren’t any single benches so there’s no option to do any free weight sessions, even if there was, there aren’t heavy enough dumbbells to work out. It’s clean and the temperature is great, shower facilities are spot on but I go to a gym to workout, not get a shower. The atmosphere was hostile and the customers have a real attitude problem, I imagine that’s partly down to a poorly equipped gym resulting in people just not caring. Just don’t bother visiting if you’re looking for a serious workout

Have tried to get hold of relevant people. Even when I have participated in a class, I get the no show the next day even when I have written my name down. Now all my classes are cancelled and I don’t believe it’s fair. I’m there every day.

Excellent gym, good quality MATRIX equipment, nice and clean, 3 hours parking free, easy to use app with very helpful instructions and plans, nothing negative so far. Something to improve: toilets were smelly and changing room was not very clean. Admin, please look into this. I am talking about Saturday afternoon 04/11/23.

A huge gym with lots of machines, upstairs has a big free weights section which again is well equipped with various benches, squat racks, weight bars. The gym is clean with good quality showers and changing rooms with lots of lockers to store your belongings. Staff are very welcoming and friendly, always visible. The gym also overlooks the docks so you can burn some calories whilst watching over the calm waters of the docks. Personally the best gym I’ve been to, now a regular.

Not a great gym. I’ve tried it for a couple of months and won’t be renewing. The air con is very bad, almost non-existent, so the gym is usually hot and stuffy, especially the free weights area upstairs. And there are usually several buckets all over collecting leaks from the ceiling. Machines are often broken, even the water dispenser! It is not especially clean. Weights are often left randomly anywhere. And on top of that, there are new parking restrictions which means you’re limited to two(?) hours. There are better gyms around for the price.

I joined this gym only a little over a week ago. First I must say that the monthly fees are better than the council gym perhaps because the latter has swimming inclusive but I'll say PureGym has better value for sure. The classes are inclusive of the price, except yoga + Pilates which is £4 per session. It's a very busy gym but they do have a lot of equipment. So glad I signed up here!

Quite a lot of space. But a few machines are broken, quite cold inside. The atmosphere isn't that awesome.

The gym has been revamped. More machines but less space in the studio which is a shame to fit in the spin bikes. Liking the new look though.

Used to be decent enough for the amount of people there. Now it has poorly placed equipment and nowhere near enough to cater for the amount of people going. Never heard or experienced somewhere where you have to queue just to use a treadmill. Good to be busy but not when you can’t keep up with demand.

This PureGym is undergoing a refurb just now, so a lot of the equipment is placed close together. I go quite early when it's quiet, so this was not a problem for me.

Great gym that is open round the clock. There's no staff available at nights understandably but it gets messy sometimes as people litter and leave weights everywhere. Gets really busy during the evenings. Would recommend!

A big clean modern gym which is in need of some love. Some of the showers are broken and one of the TV's has been broken for months. It's a great gym with brilliant 24 hour opening, come on our gym, you have the money, keep on top of your maintenance.

I joined up on 27th January 2018 online easy to do, various packages plus no contractual obligations. You can leave when you like. This branch is based by Chatham Dockside with free parking. No introduction is needed but you use the equipment at your own risk. There are numerous cross trainers and treadmills to use along side free weights and weight machines. You need a padlock for the lockers, changing rooms and showers are provided. Recommend to all ages but children under 16 needs to be supervised.

PLEASE NOTE... THIS GYM IS NOT OPEN 24/7 365 and sky discounts they offer are a scam. was given first month half price and no joining fee ...after signing up discovered neither discount was applied and the money was gaken from my account without my permission... have had no luck getting a response from customer services

Great gym, but is lacking in some equipment, i.e: benches and freeweights. Dumbells onky go up to 10kg and there is no barbells other than substituting the squat rack for one but if you do, you can't fully extend because if the safety devices fitted. I hope this is addressed sooner rather than later. Other than that, great atmosphere, locker rooms are nice (bring a padlock if it's your first time) and the weight machines are readily available with little to no wait time.

Best Gym ever ! What can I say about this chain. You just can't go wrong with them. Visited over 5 of them in different areas and all are maintained to their high standards. Keep up the good work.

🫤 Not the best location for party. First floor, although there is access to lift. The kitchen is restricted - it’s not allowed to be used. It’s quite a modest-sized space, so be conscious of the number of people who will attend your event here. The lifts is so small.

👍 Good quality, easy to access and the co-workers are very friendly. I gave it a 4 star because the place is a bit small and can get over crowded at times. However i enjoy it and think it is a good place to go to if you want to become fitter :)
