On Arbat, in communal apartment number 12 on the 4th floor, on May 9, 1924, the poet, prose writer, singer and composer Bulat Okudzhava was born. It's already 100 years since his birth. The year 2024 is just around the corner, and the monument on Arbat is a living reminder to the next generation of the tragic fate and songs sung with a guitar. More than 80 songs by Bulat Okudzhava are heard in Soviet films. Conscience, nobility and dignity Here it is, our holy army. Extend your palm to him. There is no fear for him even in the fire. His face is high and amazing. Dedicate your short life to him. Maybe you won't be a winner But you will die as a person.

Monument to the legendary poet Okudzhava. Opposite is the house in which he once lived. Moscow landmark. Don't pass by without a photo.

Bulat Okudzhava Monument in Moscow Visited on 7/10/2019 The monument is dedicated to Bulat Shalvovich Okudzhava, depicting him strolling in front of two large arches. Bulat Okudzhava was a Soviet and Russian poet, writer, mushe 1980sician, novelist, and singer-songwriter of Georgian-Armenian ancestry. He lived and often performed on the Arbat in the 1960s. He inspired many liberal-thinking poets to take their works to the streets. His poetry often takes a dim view of the world, sounding themes of loneliness and vacillation between hope and hopelessness.
