If you are looking for quick bite to eat or just a drink which isn't going to break the bank, this is the place to go. Moat places in Chester can be expensive but this is much more reasonably priced without compromising on service or atmosphere. Gets lively on Wednesday student nights. Super, super dog friendly too.

Not been here for a few years. It's a great pub to nip in for a drink and a meal, or a quick snack. Friendly atmosphere, popular with all ages, and all on one floor, which is a big plus for someone like myself with a walking stick.

Ive started choosing the Red lion over wetherpspons recently due to reasonable prices and better food. Food took longer than normal to arrive considering it wasn't very busy.. I was a little disappointed with the pathetic portion of pulled pork on my burger, I requested some more and to be fair I was given a more reasonable portion, cheap drinks and nice atmosphere

Food was amazing staff very polite and helpful. I went to eat with my daughter partner and my friend. My mate ordered separately from me and when his food was delayed manager offered him a free drink and some ice cream. She was very apologetic and we had a great time with great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and definitely be returning in the future. Thanks for the amazing experience.

Good burger and reasonably priced food. Played the World Cup football games and put the sound on when requested. Better than the other pubs I looked at in Chester centre for live sport on a weekday evening.

Had dinner here on Sun 15th Jan we both had steak chips and all the trimmings and not disappointed. Certainly good value for money very tasty and reasonably priced for pub food. Staff very friendly and pub has a great atmosphere. Thanks 👍

This has been the place me and my sister's meet a couple times a year (we live all over the UK) for a good catch up. Love it, friendly staff, two for one cocktails 😁, great tapas etc. Great prices too. The recent update is lovely BUT Miss our round table 😢... Would 100% recommend

Staff are absolutely lovely… and then there’s the gammon! I can only think the chef loves gammon as it’s perfect every time!! Charlotte our server was amazing! Be rude not to mention little meg as well!! Always very happy and smiley even when they’re absolutely packed! Great time! Always!

Nice food, lovely, helpful staff. The only downside was when the football was on and the music turned off everywhere would be better if they were able to keep music on the food area and separate football to the drinking area. Great location not far from the centre of town. Clean, tidy, and welcoming. Would definitely visit again, though!

Absolutely stunning bar, can’t believe the difference. The refurb has really added to the vibe of the place and the team couldn’t be anymore passionate and informative! Would deffo recommend a visit!

Popped into The Red lion today after hearing of their refurb and new menu launching recently and was immediately wowwed by the changes they've made, it has a warm and friendly buzzing atmosphere, I was welcomed by the bar team on arrival and sampled a few of their cocktails and an amazingly fresh home stretched pizza. This will our new local pre-night out Venue in Chester

I'm not a fan of pubs that have empty tables you can't sit at because they are "reserved" in an hour's time. Barstaff weren't great. Not overly impressed and won't be bothering again

Wow…superb bar, it’s just had a refurb and my goodness if you’ve visited before you wouldn’t recognise it. It’s stunning and fresh inside. Paul and the team working the evening I visited couldn’t have done more. Thank you all so much for looking after us!

The pub itself is very clean and welcoming, the food was absolutely spot on & the staff behind the bar that night were very friendly and accomodating. The only thing was the air con where we sat was really cold so we did move tables but this wasn't an issue with the staff.

Returned to Chester after 10 years . The Red Lion has improved immensely. All staff are very decent down to earth quality professional people. The food is fantastic and a pleasure to be surrounded by excellent members off staff, while chilling watching sports.
