I would recommend booking before arriving for a Sunday roast as this place was absolutely buzzing! The soup of the day was melt in your mouth delicious and flavoured perfectly! We tried the chicken, pork and beef roasts. They were equally amazing. I preferred the chicken as it came with crispy skin. The pork came with wonderful crackling if that's your bag. You cannot leave here without having pudding. The brownie, cheesecake and toffee pudding were out of this world. The kitchen is on point with timing and the wait staff did them proud despite how busy it was. Lovely, warm, welcoming and worth a visit for sure. You won't regret it!

We were visiting the area for a few days and had been recommended Hoole Village for good places to eat. Captivated by the amount of 5 star reviews we decided to The Faulkner and were certainly not disappointed. The friendly staff made us feel very welcome, and the well decorated room was spotlessly clean. Meals are cooked to order from a range of locally sourced ingredients so don't arrive quickly but good food is always worth the wait. My wife opted for the Steak, Mushroom and Ale Pie whilst I chose the 10 oz Cheshire Gammon Steak. Both were well presented and delicious. My gammon was served with a fried duck egg and lovely pineapple salsa giving it an interesting twist from the norm. A decent selection of ales included some local brews. We hope to visit the area again and will more than likely return to The Faulkner for another meal

We had to book in advance as we couldn't get a table the previous evening. Only in the area for 3 days so we relied on Google maps reviews and weren't disappointed. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Food was delicious, beautifully presented and good value for money. I had the salmon with summer veg risotto, hubby had the sea bass, both were excellent with generous portions. Covid safe layout of tables and table service.

Waited 25 mins for food after ordering, Sunday 3.30pm, seemed to be 3 staff on , place was half full. Had lamb rump, was fatty , but didn't help that the knives supplied couldn't cut through butter , wife had same problem. Waited again for desert about 15mins only 5 tables in use by then . Food cooked well and tasty .

Absolutely fabulous food. Amazing gin selection. All locally sourced. Had the duck with rhubarb ketchup...they slayed it. Awards match the experience.

I love this pub. In fact it is more than a pub. It has a welcome and homely feel and the food and staff are alway's on point. We have dined here over the years for lunch or dinner and even celebrating birthday's with a larger family group. Even when there is some time in-between visits I have never been let down, which shows the level of consistency in their product. I would highly recommend and actually need to book another visit in to them soon!

I have eaten here twice now and am SO impressed with the food...it has been delicious! It is a LONG time since I have said that about anywhere...in fact, I can't remember ever having been completely bowled over by every morsel...and the ambience was just right...a lovely experience from beginning to end!

Food great but service slow (40minutes)staff lovely... friendly and helpful. Gluten free dessert choice disappointing. Does the ice cream really contain gluten? I doubt it!! We were told the cheesecake was gluten free and it may be, although this would be unusual.

Been going for years, so booked for our work's Xmas dinner. but now under new management have to say was disappointed. We had a great night out despite disappointing food. The slow cooked beef hadn't been cooked long enough and 3 of the deserts on the Christmas menu were just not nice. When complained was asked if wanted to order an alternative, but we didn't want to risk anything else. When I asked if they would recompense us for the deserts, I was told the staff didn't have the authority to do that. So, was the Saturday before Xmas but no one available to make sure customer complaint was dealt with satisfactory. Sorry, but unlikely to go back again.

We chose a selection of small plates, which were delicious. The singer/guitarist was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Only one criticism was the kitchen closed at 8pm, too early for Friday night.

We were only in town for a couple of nights but having found the Faulkner (having been recommended) we went on the second night too.Highly recommended for the food and service in a road that has a few other good pubs and eateries. Will definitely use again next time we visit Chester.

Visiting Chester for a few days so we wanted to find somewhere local for a Sunday lunch. Highly recommend The Faulkner - food was delicious & it was lovely sitting by the window on a warm day. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Went with a friend for lunch. The staff were lovely. We had a small plate, garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast. It was so tasty.

We got Sunday roasts, one beef one vegan, and they were absolutely delicious. The gravy and the potatoes were spot on. Only downside is that the portions could have been slightly more generous for the price. Still would definitely return :)

Lovely place to pop in for some lunch and a drink whilst waiting for the train. Staff were lovely, approachable and helpful. The food we had tasted excellent and portions were sized well. Would stop by again!

We went for an impromptu Sunday roast dinner as in the Chester area and just wow! We’re proper roast snobs and this was one of the best I’ve had recently, proper home cooked, big portions and the beef was cooked to perfection. It was a little quiet in there which is a shame but the staff were really lovely and welcoming. Would highly recommend it if you’re in the area. Also though it was very reasonably priced at £15 for a roast beef dinner. Would also recommend getting the extra side of cauliflower cheese, that was amazing!

Lovely place for dinner. We had a brilliant waiter, very friendly and helpful. They had two vegan option mains and dessert and a good kids menu. I had the Roasted Cauliflower and Chick Pea Goan Curry, it was very tasty. My husband had the Roast Duck Breast which he really enjoyed. The atmosphere was nice in there too. They are kid friendly, offering paper, pencils and toy horses to keep her entertained. For dessert we share a vegan chocolate tart with sorbet which was soooo good. My daughter had the icecream which came out in a cart with all topping for her to choose from, it was lovely. High recommended.

Had a great meal on a busy Saturday evening, staff and service was great. Food selection and more importantly the result delivered on the plate was great. Brilliant experience all round. Thanks

Very compact former pub, food was very tasty, I had beer battered Cod, enjoyed very much! As I said, compact & Bijou, so if you don't like other diners conversations drowning out yours, you may not like it! Otherwise very good experience! Gaining a reputation for their "made entirely in - house" pies!

Fantastic food and friendly, welcoming service and lovely atmosphere in the Faulker Arms. We went on a special Tapas Tuesday night, 4 small plates of your choice and wine for £25. Fab value for money, delicious food and only 5 mins away from our B&B.

Lovely menu. A small but pleasant range of cocktails. The cosy shed makes a lovely drinking nook for a small party. Service was quick today and a quite ambitious pub menu

Quite a friendly place, with a relaxed, informal vibe. Staff are generally pleasant, efficient and Covid savvy. Although I've had some good food and drink here at times, the quality of the fayre offered varies too much for my liking. Recently, my excessively salty meat coupled with the limited choice of bland cask ale left me disappointed.

More than worth the effort travelling (or walking) out of Chester. Excellent food, the Chicken Pate was the best in memory, the Steak and Mushroom Pie also spot on and very hearty. Lovely Weetwood Ales topped off with excellent Service. Looking forward to a return. Many Thanks.

We went to The Faulkner for their French tapas style night for Bastille Day on the 14th July. The food was delicious and wonderfully presented. The service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. A wide variety of drinks and recommendations on what drinks went with what dishes was a nice touch. The only thing missing was a little bit of French background music to really give it that Frenchy ambience. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal there last night with friends. Food was delicious, well presented and reasonably priced. Service was excellent, the waitresses were very patient with us talking too much when we should have been reading the menu! Wonderful selection of beers and I was able to sample some before committing. Looking forward to going again on 22nd Sept for their special Spanish night.
