Me and my parter stayed here as a early weekend getaway from THU night to SAT afternoon, aesthetically the hotel is very pretty inside and outside and has around 5 floors so the views are certainly there depending on your room. Our stay was mixed, the positives were the staff were nice enough, a bit under and overbearing at times for example, we only got the one cocktail from the bar and stated we were only having the one and the bartender came over three times to ask us how it was, for some people that's great service but we were trying to have a conversation so once would've been fine. The room was nice enough and we were on the third floor so the view was also. The shower was probably one of the best hotel showers I've seen and used. Now on to the negatives: Firstly the room/bed we chose was the double and alongside the pillows it was terribly uncomfortable. The television was incredibly small and for some reason all the mirrors in the room had some sort of obstacle in front of them for example, one had our office size desk in front of it, another had a luggage holding stand and the bed side table in front of it which was attached to the bed so I couldn't move it and the final mirror in the bathroom had the toilet, sink and bin in front of it. Additionally, we only stayed two nights and the fire alarm went off BOTH nights and for the SAME reason, the first time at 5:30 in the morning and the second at 1:45 in the morning - the reason we were told was due to steam from other guests showers. For me the issue I have with this is I imagine that the hotel has been there for quite some time and you mean to tell me only recently has oversensitive fire alarms become an issue? I'm not buying it, so I would've preferred to of been told just a small heads up that your fire alarms have been known to go off very easily and is clearly still a problem! The other issue I had was we spent around £200 for a two night stay and in our room there was like a snack section on our desk to which we were under the impression that these were complimentary, we were not told by any staff, any receptionist that these actually cost you money to consume!! that the hotel keep a tab on. There is a very small price list at the back of the tray where the snacks were kept and on black card might I add, so you could say it was an oversight on our part for not noticing but I bet we're not the first people who have made this mistake as there's no information provided - it totalled to £15 for two cans of coke, two packets of crisps, small chocolate and some nuts. We raised our issues before we checked out to the receptionists but they couldn't of cared less to be honest so we won't ever be coming back.

Ideal location for shops, bars and restaurants, hotel clean and staff polite. good view's of the race course and beyond from the first room we had, nice and big, large walk in shower. heating was not working in the room and it was very cold, not what you would expect from a hotel of this standard, various trips down to reception to be told that they would sort it out and over ride the system, still not working 24 hours later. We were then moved to the room next door. Very Disappointed in service. Charged us for parking..(offer of free parking would have been a nice gesture) We felt let down so we checked out a day before we should have. :+(

I booked the abode as a present for my partners birthday after it being recommend by some friends. The room was fantastic, loved everything about it. There was no noise from the street or other guests and out view was beautiful. However, the staff in the restaurant on the 5th floor were horrendous. One young girl in particular was very rude to us and even aggressive at one point which made us feel very uncomfortable to the point we lost our appetite. I don't usually complain but this time I felt it was justified. They were very understanding and apologetic and even offered to take 20% off the bill. I would happily return to this hotel but I would never step foot in that restaurant again. Their staff are diabolical and this overall tainted the stay.

Room could of done with a slight update/tidy in the bathroom. But apart from that it's good. Great views over Chester Racecourse. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. Great cocktails at bar for the evening.

Great rooms and ideal for the Races. Really enjoyable breakfast, but really, no baked beans......

Enjoyed our stay, hotel clean, tidy and comfortable, staff helpful. Great location - easy walk into the centre. If I'm being picky- drinks are a bit pricey. Would stay again.

Lovely hotel, wine £33 a bottle - really expensive - bar staff friendly - but made us feel really uncomfortable when the bar closed. Felt as though we were in their way, as they wanted to clear up. Maybe they should have mentioned something about us being in the bar, before we bought the wine.

This was our first stay here and we really wasn't disappointed, it is in a super location just a few short minutes to the town centre, easy to get to and parking on site. The rooms where large, modern, stylish and well appointed, the bed was huuuuge, it must have covered several postcodes it was that big 🤣 All the staff where friendly, welcome and professional, we couldn't fault our stay here and we would 100% stay again, loved it

Staff can make or break a reputation. What should have been a solid stay was as positive as breaking a tooth on Christmas eve at 7pm. The room was ridiculously cold. Apparently the "master switch" should have been turned on". It was not. If you like a soft bed, then you will love this! Breakfast service was seriously disappointing and slow, if it was space travel we would still be waiting to see the first person on the moon! Food was good though. Read previous comments about parking. Good location for the centre.

Stayed at the abode several times. Overall experience always good. We were upgraded thus time, although the room seemed to smell of cigarettes. I am also disabled, never had ti pay fir parking before, but was charged this time. Staff are all really lovely

Good location and clean, certainly not good value for money though. Unfortunately, the wow factor was not there, and for £200 a night, you would expect that. Room was basic and small, could hear the washing machines all night long too.

Ahbsolutely amazing stay, suite was spotless, stunning views and very comfortable. The staff were brilliant, the best I've experienced in a hotel, so friendly, helpful and made the stay so enjoyable. Look forward to visiting again.

Nice room and polite staff. Incredible that at 8am they said they couldn’t do pancakes (which were listed on the menu!). Booked direct so was offered the option to extend the check out by an hour. However this was unavailable when I asked. We’d parked in their carpark at c3.30pm but they said we had to be out by 12.30 - so £12.50 for less than 24 hours. Overall a decided lack of customer focus and a disappointing place to stay.

We stayed the night and it was very good. Comfortable bed, very spacious room with a bath and a shower (which is to the right of the bath). This is room 118 and stayed with a voucher gifted to us. Staff were friendly and parking was simple with a decent price👍🏼

Location is a little bit out of the center which is perfect because you avoid lot of the noise. But about 2-5min walk to town center. Right next to race course. Room was very clean with loads of space, the only thing if I want to be petty would be that there was no fan in bathroom, so I could smell my husband's poop 😅 Ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful, great conversations, cleaning staff was also friendly and welcoming whenever we passed them on the floor. Lovely balcony view! This was our second stay with Abode Chester and will definite stay again, next time we will avoid weekends as they tend to be more expensive 😀

A lovely hotel with great views and friendly staff. Watch out for the hotel car parking fee though. We had no idea until we arrived that it was £10 a day!

Went for cocktails in Sunday afternoon. This place has the best views in Chester but zero atmosphere. There was one other party there. No music. Hard floors. Kind of a cold echoey space. No real attention to the balcony seating. Just a few chairs and tables and zero lighting/greenery/attempt to make it welcoming. Service was fine, cocktails and hot drinks perfectly good and prices reasonable. No idea why Abode isn’t pushing this is a proper venue. Location is ridiculously good.

Kind of mixed feelings about Abode. Service before we stayed I found a bit lacking and I actually emailed to complain but did receive an apology via email. The room which was a desirable one was tired and small BUT we bought the Romance package which was so worth it so bunch of beautiful flowers, chocolates and chilled champagne (although it left water EVERYWHERE) they also wrote a card to us saying happy anniversary which was a welcome feeling after the initial experience. I found walking in and out of reception we were never really greeted or welcomed so it felt quite quiet and awkward BUT the lady that helped us check out was so lovely and chatty and so we finished on a high! Some good points but I wouldn't book again and I probably wouldn't recommend

Had a great murder mystery meal event here on a works day out. The food was excellent but service was a tad slow. It's quite a walk from the station but there are many watering holes along the way.

I stayed for a work event at the end of March. The room was spacious and the bed extremely comfy. There was loads of choice at breakfast the next day, first time having a vegetarian black pudding (beetroot based), only shame is the toast was harder than rock. The location is great, I’d happily come back here to explore more of Chester. The snacks in the room were expensive, and two items had expiry dates of the day we left so I assume they’d been there a while.

Have stayed here before and always found it excellent, however this time check in took almost 25 minutes. Our friends booked separate, and were told when checking in they hadn't paid, and had to check with their banking which confirmed they had. Our room's were the wrong way around, as our room had an anniversary card in it, and no apology!

Lovely stay, bed was so comfy. Food was great. Racecourse is a beautiful view. Fab location for a night on the town too… paying extra for parking is ridiculous though

Had a great meal Sunday evening. Pity they have stopped afternoon teas which our voucher was originally for. We got the vouchers worth off the bill.Diwnstairs bar not open.

Hard to properly review with all the restrictions and low staff meaning no breakfast/dining options bar room serving. Rooms average, views great especially racecourse side. Poor in room WiFi and for the price you really would expect more. I would happily stay again but only on a deal where I wasn't paying full room rate as there are plenty of better hotel/guest houses in chester that offer a lot more at a lower cost.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Abode, good location next to the Racecourse, 5 mins walk to the City centre and a safe underground parking area, £10 for 24hrs is fine knowing that we didn't have to worry about a city centre parking, booking in was quick with an excellent service, we were allowed to go into our room early as it was ready, our meal at the Restaurant was excellent, everything well cooked and service was first class and the view from the 5th floor was lovely, especially when we could see the sun setting behind the hills, we won't hesitate to book at the Abode again.

Always love this place. Staff very welcoming, friendly/professional. The room I was in this time had great views. A good sized bathroom. WiFi poor in the room, previous stay no problem. Would Always recommend this Hotel.

Fantastic rooms gorgeous breakfast. Got charged for crisps which we didn't have but refunded immediately. £12.50 for car parking was fair.

Got upgraded to larger room on arrival the room was very disappointing, small TV, broken toilet seat and it was like a sweat box in there as the air con was insufficient! Please be aware if you use any of the items on a ‘Tray’ (mini bar as they state) there is no price list and you will be charged without your consent and they just take it off your card after you leave!! Very poor standards, this is the third time staying and i was very disappointed will not be going back!!

Rooms nice and clean. Service needs improvement. Restaurant on 5th got meals wrong and service was slow. Venue itself is lovey and location is great. With a little training this could be a very good hotel.

NO PARKING. We were charged £12.50 for overnight parking. We went out for dinner and upon our return no parking spots left. We were told these are not reserved and are first come first served - this information was conveniently not shared when paying for the £12.50. They have 15-20 or so parking spots for a such a large hotel obviously they need to increase their parking or inform customers of this upon checking or when booking a room. In the end refunded us and told us to park 2 mins away for £5 overnight parking - again conveniently not told about this when paying the £12.50. Nice hotel and rooms but appalling customer service at front desk - just after your money kind of attitude from the front desk staff.

Lovely hotel, fantastic room spotlessly clean. Friendly helpful staff. Very good breakfast as well. Had to wait 40 minutes to check in due to it still being cleaned because of people checking out late after Chester races. We were given complimentary drinks from the bar because of our wait which was nice. Would definitely visit again.
