Love this place. I was last here over 25 years ago and it hasn't changed (this is a good thing). The beer selection is good, food is delicious, atmosphere is unbeatable, no music, no rowdiness. Menu is varied depending on the specials, but there is a standard offering available online. There are also some vegetarian options (not vegan). Sincerely hope it isn't another 25 years before the next visit.

Lovely traditional oasis serving good beer & wines with proper traditional food in a warm & friendly old fashioned pub. I only visited to have a lunch (Gamon, spuds & parsley sauce - cooked to perfection and served properly piping hot). They also serve gluten free food too. The staff couldn't do better to make you feel more welcome... it been a while since I last visited... way too long, and I'm not going to repeat that mistake again. Definitely will be back ... soon!

Wonderful proper back Street local pub. Beer selection is a bit unimaginative to be honest but it's still a top place to spend time. Maybe swap Carling for an actual lager and perhaps have a local ale. Dog friendly and child averse, so top marks there!!

Dropped in for a pint, very nice atmosphere, very relaxing, made to feel welcome. Didn't have any "trench rations" this time (had some last time & they were lovely, reasonably priced & piping hot)

First class multi roomed absolutely unspoiled pub with good staff and a vast amount of first world war memorabilia. A monument to the dead of the Great War. William Morris wallpaper everywhere. Charming staff and excellent beer and not a chain. Support it!

Very friendly, good choice of drinks, attentive bar staff, relaxed atmosphere, reasonably priced, excellent location are just some of the attributes of this very fine establishment. I would happily recommend The Albion. A truly hidden gem.

Nice old school street corner boozer hidden away in Chester. Serves about 3 ales. It’s got a world war veterans vibe inside so don’t be suprised if you end up enlisting by the end of the night!!! It’s chilled out and chatty. Not the place to go for a rowdy night out by any means. It’s a traditional relaxed watering hole which is how the staff and locals like it. Dog friendly and kid unfriendly.. serves food with GF options. Good service behind the bar. Accommodation available. Recommended if you like your pubs the way they used to be…🍻 🫵🇬🇧

A fantastic small pub with a history of 150 year’s service serving good beer to the city of Chester and its military. Quite simply put , this place is what all small independent pubs where like at the turn of the 20th century. It’s a time capsule, of a place, totally given towards and the theme of the Great War 1914-1918 . If you’re a modern progressive millennial type who gets slightly ‘offended’ at the concept of empire and history of this country, then my advice is give it a miss, as it may well offend you 😄 with the glorious patriotic early British interior of the early 1900s, and a complete delight of first war decor and posters . Seriously, though this is a fantastically well run pub which values and follows traditional licensing hours. Always check online first , for example, they are closed on a Sunday. The beer is good, very good . The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming and the food is utterly sublime in so much as it is the best home-made pub food you will find in the city, but not the so-called modern pub classics that are forced down in chain pubs, not here, this is totally home-cooked good standard British stuff – you won’t even find chips on the menu - mashed potato and veg with a glorious array of things like mince and tatties , haggis and curry’s all standard as they call them “trench rations “ the puddings are also to die for.. The other good thing about the Albion is that there is no music or television – you know a pub where you can go to drink and talk to people …sound like a winning combination doesn’t it . All in all, if you want to experience pubs how they used to be in England this is the place. In the nicest possible way, I will say also it is not family friendly, in the sense of it’s a ‘traditional ‘ establishment, but by no means rude, so it’s not a place for mums and toddlers and fancy coffees But if you want a good pint with a good steaming plate of hot food with something with custard afterwards, and saver a atmosphere and history of the 14-18 war, than this surely is not just the best pub in Chester, but I don’t argue in England…

I was out on a well behaved stag do, and the Albion was our first pub on our walk about. The sign immediately inside the front door was not a welcoming thing at all and we had a pint and left immediately. I know that "stag" and "hen" parties can be tedious, but there's a way of saying it with a bit more tact.

Nice ales, friendly staff and the food is amazing. My favourite pub in Chester. If you need some time to switch off and have a relaxing pint, this is the place to do it.

Excellent pub. Had lunch there and had cottage pie, which was superb. We had a friendly and warm welcome, and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely visit again.

Fantastic pud to visit when you are in Chester. It has to be one of the most unique pubs I've ever been in. You will not forget a visit to the Albion!! Food is all home cooked and delicious, and there is plenty of real ale to choose from. And if you go in the Winter there is a real fire to keep you toasty warm. 🙂

A cosy, Victorian themes pub, with wonderful period decor and a cold pint on hot day. Easy to overlook, so don't, find it just on the edge of the Roman gardens.
