😐 Pleasant clean and very friendly. Food cooked to order, how ever witnessed the treatment towards a young member of staff called Lilly. I really wanted to say something, maybe take more time to train your staff and not humiliate them in front of visiting customers. People often mention cafe, great, staff, friendly, Chester, cream, visit, prices, service, breakfast,

Had Breakfast, Sunday morning, from the lovely welcome as I entered to the last bite the whole experience was fabulous. Staff where a delight, the food was amazing, best sausage I can remember and the bacon was the most tasty I’ve had in ages. I’m already booking a hotel for a return visit this weekend!

If you're looking for a cozy and charming cafe with delicious treats at great prices, look no further than Cafe at the Walls. My partner and I stumbled upon this hidden gem during our recent visit to Chester, and we were absolutely thrilled with our experience. One of the highlights of our visit was the incredible ice cream. The flavors were all so tempting that it was hard to choose, but we ended up trying the salted caramel and the raspberry sorbet, and both were absolutely divine. The ice cream was rich and creamy, with just the right balance of sweetness and flavor. We were pleasantly surprised at how affordable the prices were, too - it's rare to find such high-quality ice cream at such reasonable prices. But the ice cream wasn't the only thing that impressed us. The cafe itself is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic charm that perfectly matches its location right by the city walls. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the service was quick and efficient. All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Cafe at the Walls and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great cafe in Chester. Whether you're in the mood for ice cream, coffee, or a light meal, this place has something for everyone. Don't miss out on the opportunity to visit - you won't be disappointed!

Visited on the day of the Chester Marathon around 12ish so may have been busier than usual. It's very small inside so get's very busy as there are only a few tables. It felt a little uncomfortable trying to sit and eat when there was a queue of people snaking out of the door, standing over you as they're waiting to order. We ordered a baked potato, hot sandwich and two baps and hot drinks. Took a little while to bring the drinks to us but we could tell they were very busy, to the point of being inundated with orders. The waitress did apologise for the wait, even offering to remake the drinks if they were not hot enough but they were fine, especially the cappuccino which was lovely. Food was nice and happy to see gluten free options on the menu. Would return.

3 stars as a ‘neutral’ review as we didn’t end up eating here because of the atmosphere generated by the manager. We sat down and the lady in the back was berating her waitresses in a very condescending way, which was really uncomfortable. They were actually great and looked after us straight away, so I don’t want to reflect poorly on them. Be nice to your staff!

Fabulous food. Friendly. Genuinely priced. A real little gem, then a gentle stroll along the river. Perfect . My only concern is it takes dogs!!!!

A proper cafe serving traditional food at good prices. Hidden away just inside in the walls near to the River Dee, Cafe at The Walls is a place you should definitely seek out. It’s a small, cosy cafe situated at the end of old town houses in Lower Bridge Street. There is short stay parking bay’s near by and blue badge parking. However, there does not appear to be wheelchair access to the cafe. Very welcoming, prompt service and a great English breakfast to set you up for the day. Recommended .

Perhaps caught the staff on a bad day. A little more training needed on customer service, I understand the cafe was busy but to not be acknowledged when I approached the counter is just very rude, took 4 minutes of me standing there for them to ask what I’d like. Took 25 minutes for 2 baps and a panini to arrive. I won’t be returning

A 40 minute wait for really basic, unappealing and overpriced food. Too busy serving ice cream to run the kitchen properly, avoid.

Maybe I wasn't lucky, but the cakes were very dry and tasted like they have been out for a few days. Jacket potatoes were edible. Not many options for takeaway.

Stopped here to grab 2 coffee's to take out, after having 1 sip both went in the bin! After spending £8 for the coffee's (which is more expensive than popular coffee places) it was really disappointing.

Average, no atmosphere, young servers just on their phones laughing at social media. Food was cooked well, milkshake was just milk not thick with ice cream - disappointing.

Tucked under the city wall, this small Café does home-made snacks and meals at reasonable prices, compared to others

Don’t let your teen work here. Poor management and working practices could destroy their confidence. Luckily my daughter got a good (public) review the day they decided to let her go when they were all so overwhelmed with customers they couldn’t serve the masses.

Cosy little cafe close to the river and next to the city walls. Small, but worth calling in as prices are reasonable. Only stopped for ice creams, but they have a good range of items on the menu.

Popped in here for a snack after walking by the river. It's dog friendly, which is great. The soup was spicy, and the bacon on the roll was nice. Friendly service. Just let down that it was cold inside with no heat. I'm sure it will be ideal in the summer

Love the place first time there. Beef burger is a proper one and the roast pork is to die for. Love the tea pots on the window's side. Will be back next time I'm in Chester.

Was looking for a little cafe where we could get a simple breakfast barm which wasn't going to break the bank. This place was fantastic. Simple menu and very reasonably priced. Food was excellent (recommend the sausage and egg or the bacon, sausage and egg) which is what we had. Bonus is it is dog friendly!

The potato on the shepherd's pie was very watery & the broccoli & carrots were barely warm & hard. Not value for the price paid.

Visited every day during my recent visit to Chester, and it's a great place to start your day. Large selection of breakfast dishes, from sausage baps to full English breakfast. Cafe also collects donations for animal welfare, and welcoming to animals. Locals seem to come here for breakfast too. Good value for money.
