Can’t comment on the food as we left before ordering due to the rudeness and ignorance of the staff, we sat down and the waitress shouted over to us that our order would be taken in a minute. We looked at the menu, decided what we wanted and waited to give our order. After 10 minutes another couple came in to the cafe and the waitress immediately went over to their table and asked them what they would like, they advised her they hadn’t had chance to look so she asked if she could get them some drinks while they decided. She took their drinks order and went off and made their drinks, she then brought their drinks to their table, took their food order and went back to the kitchen. Still ignoring the fact that we were waiting. The cafe was empty! the waitress was well aware we were waiting and chose to ignore us. I’m unsure wether it was because she heard our accent was not from the area or another reason but after being ignored for 20 minutes we decided to take our custom elsewhere. It actually put a bit of a dampener on what was supposed to be a nice day out for us however we found a very nice cafe a short walk down the road and the staff there were very friendly. Most definitely would not go back to The Coffee Mill Ltd and wouldn’t recommend it unless you enjoy being ignored.

We thought this looked a nice place to have a pot of tea rather than the usual coffee. We were immediately put off by the smell of old food on entering. We sat down anyway. The tablecloths were a nice idea but unfortunately ours was stained. The menu said if there were any allergies we could ask the staff We didn't get far since as soon as my husband asked for soy milk we were told they don't do soy milk and that "we were welcome to leave". Not to worry, the Jaunty Goat only a few doors along had some amazing dairy-free cake options (including the best vegan brownies ever!), lovely tea choices in proper pots and oat milk. The staff were warm and welcoming too.

Lovely food. Home made scones. A lovely tea room. My husband had a steak and ale pie with mash and peas and I had soup and Welsh rarebit followed by homemade scones with clotted cream and jam. Delicious! A great little place to have a break and a nibble.

Sadly we have to say our experience today was disappointing. Our waitress was a delight and our coffees were perfect. BUT..If the woman in the blue dress is management she needs to go on a 'pleasant face' course. We were having a good old chat having spent over £7K. On our next holiday later in the year. Apparently we had spent too long talking over our coffees and she was glowering at our table.... I missed it but my friend spoke of it when we left....we will definitely call again and tell her of our previous visit when there was only us three and one other couple in the place mid afternoon as chester was so quiet that day. Watch out manageress..I'm on your case. These is plenty of competition nearby .

Cosy cafe with an extensive menu of hot and cold sandwiches, light-bites and cakes. Super fast and friendly service and good strong tea. Generously filled sandwiches and rolls, if lacking in a bit finesse. Rather tightly packed tables, but needed due to its popularity.

I'm now an old lady, but I have been going to this lovely place since I was a young girl. I've always been treated like a lady and the food plus service has always been A1. Yes I've tried other places in Chester, but as far as I'm concerned The Coffee Mill cannot be beaten and now I don't bother going anywhere else, plus it is peaceful, and today being sooo hot, it was so cool. Thanks Coffee Mill.
