This temple in Chiang Mai, which is also the most famous in the city, is located in the heart of the city center and is absolutely beautiful to visit. Lanterns are hung in a temple at the back of the main one and seem to fly in the sky. It's all the more remarkable to admire during a sunrise or sunset. It's really worthwhile to stop and stroll around the garden, and simply take your time.

One of the greatest temples I have seen in Thailand. A must-see when in Chiang Mai. There are several attractions culminating with the golden pagoda in the photos. There are lots of large and smaller buildings that are full of history and serenity. Additionally, there are many small sitting areas for contemplation and enjoying the serenity and peacefulness that the temple provides. Remember to read the many phrases of wisdom that are displayed in the gardens and sitting areas. No tickets are required, but donations are welcomed.

A stunning temple complex where every detail reveals extraordinary stories. On the walls of one of the main buildings there are some old pictures where we can see some of people selling food, eating together around the temple, as for an instance. Inside the walls of the temples there is a Cafe in the entrance selling a very cold and sweet coconut water, along with Hmong beautiful clothes.

Very impressive collection of Temple buildings set in tranquil grounds. Has to be one of the best Temples in the Old City. Magnificent large Gold Stupa. There are little gems of Buddhist teaching pinned to trees in the grounds. In the main building a group of monks were gathered sitting in a line and chanting. People come here to make merit and light candles.

Wat Phra Singh is one of the holiest temples in Chiang Mai province, featuring architectural works related to Thai Buddhism. It is open for tourists from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day of the week. This place has ancient Lanna-style buildings with exquisite carvings, meticulous in every detail from temples, towers to giant lion statues that stand proudly to guard the temple’s peace. The stupas at Wat Phra Singh are considered typical works of Thai Buddhism that every temple has. The stupa is placed on a huge square stone base with classical Lanna architecture and the image of a rising elephant that shows the unique characteristics of the land of the Golden Temple. Moreover, inside the stupa, there are also very precious ancient treasures that have strong traces of Thai history.

a magnificent temple that left me in awe. The intricate architecture and stunning craftsmanship of the temple are truly remarkable. The peaceful and serene atmosphere inside the temple grounds is perfect for meditation and reflection. The meticulously maintained gardens and serene ponds add to the charm of this sacred place. The temple complex also houses a number of beautifully adorned Buddha statues that are a sight to behold. A visit to Wat Phra Sing is a must for anyone visiting Thailand, as it offers a profound spiritual experience and a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the country

Upon entering Wat Phra Singh, my eyes first went to the left, which is an area with multiple colourful lanterns. It makes for a great photo spot. As there appeared to be a prayer chanting session, I was not able to enter the main building. However the other areas are worth visiting, like the stupa that's covered in gold and looks magnificent against the blue skies. There are also smaller buildings with some artwork on the walls. These artwork unfortunately have aged and faded in some parts.

Extraordinary Buddhist temple complex open to visitors, but closes around 6pm. Give yourself around two hours to explore the complex, as there is so much to see and learn! The massive gold Buddha in the assembly hall is beautifully captivating. We arrived around 4:30pm and the monks were chanting in the main assembly hall. It was a spiritually moving experience to be in their presence at this moment. There is also a library that holds some of the ancient scriptures, and one of the halls has the Phra Sing Buddha surrounded by frescoed walls with images from the Jataka tales, ancient tales of Buddhas lives and transformations. We highly recommend coming to this Wat during your trip to Chiang Mai!

Wat Phra Singh is one of the oldest and most popular temples in Chiang Mai. This amazing temple located in the heart of the old city, contains supreme examples of Lanna Art. The temple consists of many buildings, but the most spectacular is the golden wihan that houses the Phra Singh (Lion Buddha Image). It is possible to go inside to see the Buddha Statue but just remember to remove your shoes first!

Chang Mai's greatest temple. Home to the city's most revered Buddha image, the Lion Buddha. If you only have the energy for two or three wats, start here. I loved the murals, the chanting and all the buildings you can poke into here.

Must visited!! What a peaceful magnificent temple in Chiangmai!! This temple is absolutely stunning during the noon and night . It is located in the popular street, where there are several local vegan restaurants and popular coffee shops. Inside the temple area, there are local Northern handmade shops and handmade artworks as well.

It is the second oldest Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, built in 1345. Wat Phra Singh is not only one of the most representative temple buildings of the Lanna Thai Dynasty, but also the oldest, best preserved and most prosperous temple in Chiang Mai. There is a Shwedagon Pagoda built in the 16th century with a height of about 20 meters. It is said that the relics of Buddha Sakyamuni are preserved in the pagoda. The emperors of the past dynasties in Chiang Mai are very respectful to Paxing Temple. 🙏🏻 It is well worth taking some time to walk around the temple!

Wat Phra Singh Woramahawihan is a magnificent temple that showcases the beauty and elegance of Lanna architecture. I visited this temple during my trip to Chiang Mai and I was amazed by its intricate details and serene atmosphere. The temple has a rich history that dates back to the 14th century and it houses an important Buddha statue called the Phra Buddha Sihing. The statue is revered by many Buddhists and it is carried through the streets during the Songkran festival. The temple complex consists of several buildings, each with its own charm and significance. The most impressive one is the Wihan Lai Kham, which is decorated with exquisite murals, wood carvings, and gold leaf.

This is a massive wat complex with vividly detailed stories on the walls and ceilings. The temple is so massive you feel tiny. The architecture is stunning as are the gardens.

Beautiful temple buildings. But nothing to read or learn about on any English sign, and it’s always nice to be able to learn some of the history and context. Then again, it’s free entry, so I can’t really complain. Still worth visiting.

We went super early in the morning. It was really nice. The monks were doing their morning ritual ceremony. It was quite nice. Pretty sure this place gets really crowded during the day.

Beautiful local temple in the heart of Chiang Mai! Since we were traveling with 2 young kids, we didn't book the famous tour of the white blue and black temples since it was an all-day activity and the drive is long. We settled on visiting this temple near our hotel and were satisfied with our visit. It was peaceful, beautiful, and wasn't too crowded. We tried our best to keep the kids quiet to respect the monks and others while they were praying. The grounds are clean, and so is the restroom. There is no entrance fee and easy to find. We'd definitely come back and recommend this temple to family with young kids who don't want to travel far to see a beautiful temple in Chiang Mai.

One of the best in old city. The Golden Elephant stupa is tremendous! Nice grounds, history. If you're in the Old City it's a visual treat and an analog moment of chillness and introspection. Ring those bells!

This is a beautiful Temple located in Chiang Mai Old town and on a Sunday Night you can park in the complex and go enjoy the Sunday night markets which start opposite the temple. It is worth a visit if you are visiting Chiang Mai Thailand

Nice temple in the middle of old town but as you can expect, it is quite touristy and there will be alot of people here, taking photos and the such so keep that in mind. For ladies, you will not be allowed into the temples if you are exposing your shoulders or wearing shorts above your knee height and this is standard for most thai temples so keep that in mind. You are allowed to walk around and see the outsides of the temples though

😊 I visited Wat Phra Singh during my solo backpacking adventure in Chiang Mai and It was absolutely amazing! Walking through the historic courtyards and admiring the beautiful architecture. I found a lot of serenity in this place. It's a must-visit for any solo traveler/ traveler looking to learn more about his historical significance and his religious importance for the community. 😇

It was such a fabulous complex temple I have ever seen in Thai Lan. I visited at later noon before door closing in the last day traveling. Even the Temple is in the central city but it has green campus surrounding small temples in it. I love seeing the different kinds of regional architect, so when I entering the place, it was just so woaaa. Seeing it in reality was amazing with purely local carving and color matching also. I reckon I should invest a high quality camera =))) Just love this place

Such a wonderful place. Not too busy. And so many places to see set in beautiful surroundings. So easy to lose track of time taking everything in. Definitely worth another visit.

A beautiful temple, highlights include the golden spire and the hyper-realistic wax figures of monks inside the main temple. It’s a small wat, you can see everything in 15-20 minutes or so, but worth a stop when visiting Chiang Mai Old Town.

  • 5/5 Vaughn F. 5 months ago on Google
As you enter the temple grounds you’ll notice how grand the temple grounds are, with a main temple and several smaller buildings and some really nice bamboo scenery. The temple itself is ornate, clean, and well-maintained. At the front you’ll see several gold Buddhas, the biggest one is massive and a sight to behold. One thing to note is that most of the signs are in Thai, so if you don’t understand the language you’ll need a translator if you want to read about the history of the temple.

Pros 1. ticket prices might be of 40 THB, i have missed it. 2. Free parking 3. It is a big temple complex with a couple of new and old temples. 4. The buildings are magnificent 5. One of the buildings has life sized vax statues of the Buddhist monks Considerations 1. Please wear full length clothes 2. In case you are interested in Buddhist chanting and prayers, you might visit the temple around 5 PM but before the closing time.

12 & 13/Nov Entrance: THB 0 Went there twice. The first was during Sunday night after going through Tha Phae Walking Street. The night view was different from the day. With the light shone onto the temple, golden colour glittering. If have the right position, able to take a very nice picture. The next morning we went again to see the morning view, which was very nice too. It's worth out 2 trips to same wat.

This is definitely one of the most beautiful and impressive temple grounds in the area and definitely a must visit for a lovely glimpse into the old amazing traditions and culture. Wat Phra Singh is perhaps the second most venerated temple in Chiang Mai after Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It houses three main structures, the main attraction being the elegantly decorated Lai Kam assembly hall and its restored murals depicting the lives of locals hundreds of years ago. Located inside the old city wall, at the western end of Ratchadamnoen Road, the temple’s signature Lanna-style roofs and glittering viharn (assembly hall) invite visitors. The walled-in temple compound is busy with visitors and worshippers all year round and is usually packed during the Thai New Year festival (Songkran) in mid-April.

One of the best temples you can find within the walled city, very careful, green spaces in case it is very hot. There are stalls selling fruit and drinks. In one of the smaller temples there are 5 wax Buddhas, totally real, it's incredible. you do not have to pay admission.

Lovely architecture and instills calmess as any buddha temple does. Time your visit around sunset for good photos. Anyone can sit in the main hall for some time to relax even if you arent praying.

Again an other stunning temples complex in the heart of Chiang Mai. So much beauty everywhere, you can get lost for a few hours exploring evey little corner enjoying the young monks passing by, the shining golden stupa or the wax sculptures

Best temple in the city! 🧘‍♂️🧎‍♂️The vibe is nice and calm inspiring mindfulness thanks to many quotes attached on trees! There are also local people that welcome you at the entrance giving suggestions and recommendations 🙂 P.s. don't be scared by the Monk statuses inside the main pagoda 🙀 they look so real! Please be respectful of these places 🙏

It’s as beautiful in person as you would expect from the pictures. Also you will find a few small shops and some one selling some delicious flavored water. I recommend the butterfly pee. Worth a visit and probably won’t take you more than 20 minutes to see it all

Gold shines from every corner at the temple. Plus, you'll find lifelike wax monks inside. It's nestled in the old city and free, but donations are appreciated.
