Having
done
a
few
five
star
resorts
in
Thailand
(and
also
Anantara
in
Phuket
in
a
prior
trip),
this
was
the
worst
resort
out
of
all
of
them.
Pros:
-
Good
location
near
the
old
city.
But
you
really
won't
be
walking
to
and
from
the
city
from
this
location,
as
its
too
hot
to
do
so.
-
Nice
pool
by
the
river
-
Restaurants
for
breakfast,
lunch,
and
dinner
have
good
views
of
the
river
Cons:
-
Dated,
tired
looking
rooms.
In
desperate
need
of
a
renovation,
and
quality
more
4
star
than
5.
-
We
had
several
issues
with
the
room
not
being
maintained
well.
Took
ages
to
fix.
-
The
rooms
are
really,
really
dark.
Don't
stay
here
if
you
want
something
bright
and
uplifting,
there's
no
way
as
they
have
skimped
on
the
lighting.
Rooms
are
also
a
bit
cramped,
as
they
are
long
rather
than
square.
Also
they're
only
50
sqm,
which
is
just
enough,
and
a
lot
of
wasted
space
is
taken
up
by
the
outside
"foyer"
for
shoes.
-
As
a
GHA
Discovery
Platinum
member,
I
was
given
an
"upgrade"
from
a
Deluxe
Garden
room
to
a
Deluxe
River
View
room.
However,
you
could
only
see
the
river
from
the
balcony.
And
only
if
you
stand
in
the
right
spot
of
the
balcony!
What
a
con.
Don't
pay
extra
for
the
River
View
rooms.
-
Breakfast
was
chaotic.
It
took
us
30
mins
to
get
our
dishes
one
morning.
The
buffet
choices
and
quality
are
limited,
and
the
a
la
carte
choices
are
slightly
better,
but
as
a
whole
the
worst
breakfast
we
had
in
Thailand
out
of
5
resorts
-
Due
to
COVID,
you
need
to
book
the
pool.
Only
two
guests
at
any
one
time.
We
couldn't
go
twice
because
another
guest
had
booked
before
us.
So
don't
count
on
using
the
pool.
-
The
staff
friendliness
and
service
was
OK,
but
not
the
same
level
as
the
other
resorts
we
stayed.
Overall,
we
won't
be
coming
back
here.
We
stayed
at
the
Four
Seasons
Chiang
Mai
as
well,
and
that
was
far
far
superior
to
this
(albeit
more
expensive
too).
Anantara
really
should
be
considered
a
four
star,
but
pitching
itself
as
a
five
star.
