This temple complex has an array of white stupas. It might be an interesting photo opportunity. I witnessed a couple's marriage photo shoot during the evening. Pros 1. Free parking 2. Free entry, no tickets 3. An array of white stupas 4. Big statue of lord Buddha in a massive hall. 5. Few visitors Considerations 1. Might skip because it is pretty much the same as any other big Buddha temple except for the stupas 2. Might cover within 30 minutes

This temple is probably the most beautiful one of Chiang Mai! It’s incredible how much effort they put into the construction of the temple. The outside is just as beautiful as the inside. We were lucky to see monks and other people doing rehearsals for new years celebrations. Loved this temple!

The white temple, all in white, so simple and beautiful.. Came here in the afternoon and of course it is so hot at that time.. Not many people, because maybe who wants to go in here in the afternoon because it is so hot!! The temple was located in the heart of city.. So it is easy to access.. You can simply walking in here and stop by in the cafe near the temple..

The most unusual feature of this Temple is the large array of white shrines (or relinquaries) all within one large rectangular plot and containing relics of the Nine ruling Princes of Chiang Mai. Architecture here arises from Theravada Buddhism. The Assembly Hall is huge with the structure supported by beautifully decorated pillars, gold embossed design with blue glass inlays.

Beautiful area! Definitely a place to visit and spent 1 or 2 hours. The roads towards it is breathtaking! You can park at the bottom and walk up or park at the top (limited space to park). Many shops for food and souvenirs.

a nice older temple just on the outskirts of the main square. Dating back around six hundred years it is quite a site although there have been numerous renovations over the years. It was unfortunately under part construction whilst we were visiting as there was scaffolding up but the majority was clear and easy to explore. Only 20baht to view the interior temple room which was decorated very nicely. Several monks roam the grounds and seem friendly and willing to have a brief chat. Worth a visit even though partially under construction. Slightly smaller grounds than I thought it would be though.

Wat Suan Dok also known as Wat Buppharam is a Buddhist temple (Wat) in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. It is a Royal Temple of the Third Class located in Suthep Road. It is a Beautiful white temple with breathtaking Architecture! The only issue is that there it is very hot in summers. The photos were taken at 1 pm. Some parts of the temple are still under construction and we did not have to pay any entry fee. Modest clothing required to enter the temple.

Beautiful temple, but there’s nothing much to look around (as I know). The highlight would be the large white pagoda. Recommend if you have time to visit more places in the city.

Golden pagoda with white stupa reflecting the sunset is such a magical moment to be here. This temple is so clean and well-kept. Located in the heart of Chiangmai downtown. Because it is so peaceful and calm, please behave yourself and calmly while walking around and take photos.

Suan Dok temple originally lay in a fortified square beyond Chiang Mai walls. Legends tell that King Ku Na invited the venerable Sumana Thera, a very pious monk from Sukhothai to bring the Buddhism of Sri Lanka to Chiang Mai. The King offered him the royal flower garden (Suan Dok) as a place to build a temple.🛕🙏🏻 -If you come to get dressed well-😊

Beautiful Wat. Very small and reasonable entry maintenance fee. Very ornately decorated, and one of the largest temples I visited. Some amazing artifacts and history in glasses cases in the back of the temple. The outside pillars are also amazing. Would recommend visiting this Wat on your must see list.

Do yourself a favor and ATTEND A MONK CHAT!! I participated in a one day meditation course with Prah KK and it absolutely made my week. I can’t wait to attend a 2 day with him. The Wat is beautiful and the work they do and the fact that they open their doors to let anyone come ask them questions to learn about their traditions and lives is a lesson in compassion, patience and sincerity. We received a tour between meditation practices. It is donation based but the experience is priceless, please do give to help the orphanage they work with. Thank you Wat Suan Dok and Prah KK!

The temple is beautifully decorated for the new year,Songkrang. There were minimal water fights this year but the temples were filled with people celebrating. Great time to be in Chiang Mai.

This was a very beautiful temple located in the City. You can pass by this one when you are just roaming around. It is a totally worth it place to visit even if you have been to other temples in Chiang Mai. It is just incredible on how distinct every temple is. You would love to see the small white Pagodas and the Big Buddha Shrine and to learn about its history.

A simple temple to visit near the heart of the city. It has very beautiful layouts and the main building has a big Buddha sitting in the Center. Minor renovations or maintenance work going on, but it doesn’t affect the view. Parking inside the temple.

This temple is on suthep road. It’s easy to access by Siloedang or private car. There are plenty parking lots space in the temple. However, finding the car park space may be difficult in the day that having the important religion ceremony. The atmosphere is peaceful.

Happened to drop by this morning and got to see these big white orchids. Sign says "real flowers - please do not touch". Sometimes, with lots of fakes these days, one just can't help feel something's too good to be true :) But I did look closely and can happily confirm; they are real.

I was able to explore freely. Took photos and walk around without worrying about too many people that day. I'm still amazed how much they can maintain their temples and everything in it at such a high standard.

There's a "masoleum" annex the Temple. It's located outside the old City, it worth the visit! Also is a Temple that always has a monk that you can chat!

Very nice place to visit. It’s a bit far from downtown area if you walk especially under the hot sun. But it’s worth a visit. Foreigners need to pay a entrance fee to get in and look around the temple inside. 20 baht.

Wiang Suan Dok has a square town plan, with the length on each side about 570 metres. There were a moat and an earthem rampart and served as a royai garden. It is believed to have been built in King Kuna's reign, at the same time as Wat Suan Dok (1371 AD.) The Buddha's relic was enshrined in the stupa (pagoda) in 1375 A.D

Big temple, worth a visit if you are anywhere near. According to a local legend, a 'duplicate' of a Buddha relic is kept here while the other relic was placed on the back of a white elephant which then climbed up Doi Suthep, the location which eventually became Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep.

Beautiful temple right in the middle of Chiang Mai. It is said to enshrine a Buddha relic in the Chedi. It’s pretty quite and peaceful in the morning.

Its very fortunate that I visited Wat Suan Dok when its not filled with tourists. I spent more than an hour there strolling around the premises enjoying the peace, tranquility or even zen..it helps me to clear my mind and put my mind in present moments of emptiness of which feels like time has stopped. Highly recommend for those who are looking for a nice place to tap into the calm or just chillax. Do note that its hot😄 and i didnt realise i was soaked wet maybe my mind was in the state of meditation🤭 by the way, the place has a "Monk Chat" department of which you can learn more about buddhism, meditation and etc. Google Monk Chat with Wat Suan Dok for more information🙏

A beautiful temple, very quiet. Built in the 14th Century. The large Wiharn has a huge vaulted timber roof structure, and contains an old Buddha image cast at least 650 years ago. There are no walls which give the whole building a very open and airy feel.

Stunning complex in the heart of Chiang Mai. The main hall is huge and nicely decorated. Next to it there is a stupa and a mausoleum with the ashes of several kings who lived in the city. Recommended
