10/10 ELEPHANT EXPERIENCE. RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. This was one of the most incredible experiences in mine and my partner's life. It ticked every box that I could have asked for - free roaming elephants, super friendly and relaxed, well-fed and looked after and obsessed with the wonderful attendants who care for them. Amazing scenery in what is essentially an elephant's dream playground. We booked a half-day tour. Our guide was outside our hotel at exactly the time specified and drove us to the park with a halfway stop at a local market. There is lots of land and a stream in the middle of the park for the elephants to drink from and bathe in. You are provided an explanation of where the elephants came from - some rescued from the logging industry and others from the conflict borders with Myanmar to protect them from residual IEDs. You are given bananas to feed them and then you for a walk through the forest whilst they graze and play. You are then given a delicious traditional lunch whilst watching the elephants just be themselves in a natural habitat. You then are able to bathe them in the stream where they enjoy it just as much as the humans! It was everything that you would want to experience from an Elephant sanctuary. I was very hesitant when choosing a location for this experience because reviews are very misleading and I am extremely against the activity of riding and the use of chains. This park had NONE of the above. I was even more heartbroken to read that most of the awful reviews are from COMPETITORS looking to ruin a honest business. Most of the pictures attached to these sordid reviews are NOT EVEN THE SAME LOCATION OF THE PARK. It is a horrible thing to actively try and ruin people's livelihood with lies. Everything we saw were people who genuinely cared about the elephants and a beautiful landscape that could really use financial help in anyway possible. I am so happy to have chosen Into The Wild and would encourage everyone to please support this park. Thank you to the Into the Wild team for the best time! <3

Great experience. Happy elephants and happy people! Elephants have lots of space and freedom to do what they love. Walking with them in the forest was amazing and it brought us a lot of joy just observing their play and behaviour. Also the guide was super friendly, caring and honest about the situation of elephants in Thailand. Definitely recommend for anyone who is looking for ethical experience!

Had the most AMAZING day!!! This is an ethical sanctuary, the few elephants are truly loved and cared for - they are able to freely roam through the jungle. I really recommend the full day, picked up from hostel, arrived at the sanctuary and had a talk about the elephants, fed the elephants fruit followed by a long 1 hour trek through the jungle with elephants where they get their own food which is encouraged for them to do, we all had a beautiful lunch followed by feeding elephants again, a mud bath with elephants and then washing them also together in the lake. You are allowed to touch and wash the elephants but not allowed to ride, all I can say was it was a fantastic day, the local people truly care and love the elephants and have strong bonds with them. Please ignore the bad reviews and don’t let it put you off, they simply aren’t true!

As it says, an ethical elephant camp. We do the morning tour of the camp and really enjoyed if Taxi journey is a good trek and in the back of a truck so a little bumpy in places but you get to stop half way through to get some breakfast and use the bathroom. Ethical discussion about animals Feeding sugar cane to elephants Wander with elephants into the jungle Mud bath with elephants Lunch - egg, veg and rice The guides were great and happy to answer questions. It seemed to me that elephants were in a natural environment and the owners of the camp cared deeply for them.

If there was a way to give them more than 5 stars I would. The elephants are so friendly and getting to swim and hike with them was an amazing experience. The food served was delicious and the staff were super friendly, the guide and founder spoke very good english and clearly had very strong and loving relationships with each of the elephants. The elephants can freely roam and do whatever they like, it’s amazing to see them thriving in their environment. When I accidentally left my water bottle behind, they went out of their way to deliver it back to me as well. I highly highly recommend, not only is it an amazing experience, but it also doesn’t break the bank!

We had the most wonderful experience! When we got there, we were the ONLY tourists which made our stay feel so authentic! Our guide was very friendly and his english was great. We got to hike with the elephants in the forest, feed them, rub dirt on them and bathe with them, it was an unreal experience! Everyone there was so familiar and gentle with the animals, you could feel that they genuinely loved living there. There wasn’t even a fence, they just lived on the property freely. This couldnt have been a better experience, we loved every second of it!!! 11/10

Great experience! Pai is very passionate about what he and his camp does. The bond between the guides and the 5 elephants is amazing. The tour starts with an overview on elephants in Thailand and how they came to be here at the camp. It was great to understand the background and misconceptions around elephant tourism. Then you get to walk around the jungle with them before jumping in for a mud bath. The elephants are treated with respect and allowed to roam and wander where they wish. Would definitely recommend! Thank you for a great day.

Amazing experience! We first fed the elephants with bananas, and then walked with them and observed them doing things they naturally enjoy. It's quite fascinating just being around such an animal, and playing with and along them. The camp indeed doesn't have any cages, elephants roam around freely, which seems to be quite precious for animals especially of that size. Pai takes good care of them, and it can be seen he and his crew treat the elephants well, with love and respect. Additionally, he's quite experienced and knowledgeable, and ready to answer any question both regarding elephants, but also other animal life in Chiang Mai and Thailand.

Yeah, I'm with the rest of the people here. Don't even read the 1 star reviews. They are total BS. Pai and crew are great and love their elephants. Lots of fun feeding them and going on a hike. Got to swim with them at the end. Half day was perfect in my opinion.

My husband Patrick and I did a full day experience at Into the Wild and it was truly wonderful! Firstly from what we saw all day this is the most ethical and caring sanctuary you can go to. The elephants are not chained or hurt in anyway, they have a routine because they are domesticated but the keepers, many of whom are from the local Karen people, take care to make sure the elephants have routines that match their natural state. The experience itself is amazing, the sanctuary is truly in the wild and such a cool place. You get to hand feed the elephants, trek in the jungle with them, make herbal medicine for them, and bathe with them. The guide Mike is really knowledgeable and friendly. Spend your money wisely: book this tour and you will not be disappointed and it will go to a genuinely ethical sanctuary that supports the local community!

We had a wonderful experience visiting for a full day! We walked with / observed the elephants, fed them, bathed them and spent time talking about them... The team were lovely and happy to answer any questions. Our favourite part of the day was definitely walking through the forest with the elephants! In terms of transport, we got picked up from our hotel by a friendly red taxi drive, who took us and four others to the camp (approx. 1.5 hours away). The driver drove carefully on the back roads, which was appreciated. The driver also took photographs all day, which he later shared with us - they were really good! We'd recommend visiting Into the Wild Elephant Camp! Such a wonderful place. Thanks again.

One of the best experiences in my life, the best place and guide ever for some elephant adventure. We had a very beautiful place for ourself and could just do anything with elephants. We did a jungle hike, washed them, feed them, made a vitamin ball and not to forget taking pictures. There is a guy which takes a photo all the time and they send them for free afterwards. JUST AMAZING, DO IT!

We spent a fantastic day in this sanctuary. They show concern for the elephants and that they think about their well-being We would return without a doubt!

Definitely one of the greater days with these majestic animals! The manager Pai was super nice and the elephants seemed super well in their habitants and taking super good care of by the camp! I definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting a great experience with happy, well treated, rescued elephants!

Very nice sanctuary with great staff that takes care of all of the 5 elephants present in the camp. The main guide is really nice and tells the history of everything. Booked a half day trip in the Rooftop Hostel.

Such a magical experience. We were lucky enough it get one of the owners as a tour guide. He was so amazing, doing everything to help improve the elephants lives as much as they can. Such a relaxed experience as well. So peaceful and fun. Could not recommend more highly

This was the best thing we've done in the whole Asia trip. The staff were punctual, courteous, informative, personable, and that was before we even got to the reserve. I am almost positive that all the 1star reviews are from competitors because every single person on our tour had a fantastic time. They treat the elephants kindly and with care. Each one has a human that lives with it and cares for it every day. Feeding them bananas is very fun and so is petting them and watching the baby elephants. We swam in a river, learned about Thailand and elephants, and had a delicious meal before being dropped back at our doorstep.

We wanted to visit a camp with good care for the elephants. A friend recommended us this place and we are so glad we followed her advice! We had an amazing full day at the camp with a small and fun group. We followed the daily activities of the elephants. You can see them very close but they are doing their own thing at a distance most of the time (which is very good we think! No entertainment business!). They were free and looked very happy. The founder, guide and local staff were super friendly, gave lots of information, answered all our questions and made a delicious lunch. We recommend this place 100%! The only thing we liked less was the ride with a red taxi from the city to the camp. We think another vehicle would have been more comfortable, but we had great conversations with the other participants during the ride :)!

This has been one of the best experiences of my life! Anyone who gives them less than 5 stars are sadly mistaken. The tour started with a background on the elephants, and stories of the place. After we went for an amazing hike, the weather was hot but it is all shaded so the temperature was perfect. The elephants seemed so happy, I swear you could see them smiling. During the hike the elephants weren’t led by humans or anything, they kind of did their own thing but would also walk beside us willingly for many parts of the hike because I think they understand this place treats them so well and are not threatened by humans in any way, shape or form. So it was relieving to see how much freedom the elephants get! Then we got to make nutritious food for them, bathe them and swim with them and they loved the attention. Our tour guide, Dej, was incredible, talk about fun and friendly! You can even see on their fb page they post pictures. At first I thought the camera man taking photos was gonna be a part of your typical tour photos that you have to buy as a money grab, but they post it online for free, really shows you how genuine they are. I have nothing but great things to say about this place, I highly, highly recommend it here, you won’t be disappointed!

First off, let’s just make it clear that all these one star reviews are fake. Pai and the others put their soul into these animals and their wellfare. There were no chains, no hooks, no riding, only respect for these majestic creatures. The elephants were free to go around however they liked in huge hilly jungle area. Like nature intended. They simply choose to walk with the visitors because they really love sugar cane and swimming in the mud and river. These are some of the most fortunate elephants in the world, please don’t listen to the fake reviews. Support good places like this with your money!

Amazing experience!! Spending the day with these beautiful elephants in their natural environment was unforgettable. Ignore the fake reviews as it's very clear when you visit that there are no chains, no fences, elephants are treated with so much love and are completely free to do what they want. You won't regret supporting this organization!!

Don't read the fake reviews. Full-day trip to this camp was an absolutely amazing experience for me and my friends. Trekking with elephants, mud bath, preparing meal for the animals - all these activities were unique, enjoyable and safe for the animals most of all. Watching the elephants being taken care of with passion and love was a pure joy!

Into the wild...and it's true! It was a really exciting experience! Elephant are not in chain and the staff is really respectfull of their life and environment. You'll feed them, take a walk into the jungle together(NOT RIDING THEM) and after a launch, you'll have a bath with elephants into the river! A unique experience that will definitely be a terrific Thai "souvenir" :)

I cannot say enough good things about this Elephant Sanctuary. They have five elephants governed by a matriarch, and a male infant elephant. While we were there they only had 4 elephants. Apparently one was off site being seen by doctors to a medical condition. The team was incredibly friendly, and you just can't beat the price. Our guide was the founder and elephant nurse. Prior to Covid, he volunteered most of his free time at Chiang Mai University and traveling all over Thailand to help elephants in need of care. He was incredibly knowledgeable and spoke English well.

Great experience. The elephants are a mixture of rescues and younger family members. The baby boy is a typical toddler and wants to rule the roost! They staff were great and the location was amazing. It is genuinely into the wild but absolutely worth it, jungle, mud bath and raging river all side by side, brilliant. Thank you to the staff for answering my many questions, the English was excellent. Would absolutely go again when back

Highlight of our trip. This was an incredible sanctuary. All the negative reviews are spam by fake accounts created by other elephant camps - very obvious. The guides were incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and clearly loved the elephants dearly. The elephants were free to roam everywhere. We had the best time. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

We had a wonderful time at Into the Wild- they picked us up from our hotel early in the morning & were able to grab coffee on our way. Prior to meeting the elephants we learned about the history of elephants in Thailand. We got to feed them bananas and go into the water with them, but the neatest part is just walking around in the jungle with them and watching them happily eat and wander.

The place is very well organised. Before the tour started, we got a quick introduction from the organisers here at the camp about their mission and purpose. It is understandable that these elephants were growing up semi domesticated, therefore they need human cohabiting routine. The idea is brilliant: they rescue the elephants, source the food from the local farmers to feed them, and educate tourists about why elephants play an important part in Thai culture. We agree with their idealism for sure. In this case it’s a win-win situation for the local people with financial disadvantages and the elephants. No elephants tricks for tourists, which means the animals can do whatever they want freely. No riding, no circus show, etc. We are allowed to pet them but mostly we had to keep distance from them. We hike around them without causing any disturbance. The guides are always around to remind us to make ways for the elephants and be super helpful. We fed the elephants, had a mud bath and water dunking with them. And to put the cherry on top, the guide also showed us some cool things in the jungle: edible fungi and bugs (he pointed them out) and showed us how the elephants go finding their food.

Honestly this is my favourite elephant sanctuary! Drek took very good care of us and can tell how much passion he has for the wilderness and the elephants on this land. I feel this is a very authentic sanctuary compared to the others where it’s more commercialised. We did the whole day package and got to take a walk with the elephants. Due to hot weather, Drek took us to a riverside and took us swimming. It was fantastic and we absolutely loved the experience being so close to mother nature. We made medicine balls for the elephants and went for another mud bath + swim with them. 10/10 would go back again. This is the best sanctuary ever.

A stunning elephant sanctuary that is worth the 1.5 hr drive to. 4 elephants - 2 females, a bull and a younger female. Small group sizes makes meeting the elephants a great experience. Elephants are free to do what they want - but will most likely come say hello and see what food you have to offer. Easy to see their different personalities. Get to walk down to river with them and just hang out in forest with them as they browse. A delicious lunch is served. All the people are so happy and friendly and can give loads of insight into the elephants lifestyle. The scenery is alo stunning with a cold river flowing through the mountain. Couldn't ask for a better experience. You can take your own camera but they will also take lots of photos for free for you. If you are thinking of doing an elephant visit let this be a sign to choose into the wild.

A bad elephant camp we find it very low grade camp. It's not even a sanctuary. The elephants are not well treated, they are tied up with chains. They do not have access to food and water. Guide was not good at all. Guide didnt had any knowledge about the elephants. The elephants weren't even rescued they just say it like that to attract visitors. An unethical camp. The guide are all on their own they don't care about the well being of the elephants thats quiet sad.The elephants were been feeded with rotten sugarcanes and bananas. They only have limted space to roam around in the camp. The elephants were kept in a cage when we reach there then they were been released. AVOID THIS CAMP AT ALL COST. NOT WORTH IT.

Had the best day here. Half day trip, collected from hotel in central city and driven to the camp - staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and provided a detailed background on the history of elephants and the Thai people - the owner/operator of this camp is very hands on and has over 20 years experience working with animals and truely loves his work and cares deeply about the animals welfare. There are no hooks here, no riding, no cages or chains. The elephants have an enormous amount of space to roam free and do as they please. It was a privilege to come here interact with the animals - feed them, swim with them and learn about them. The negative reviews on this site are complete nonsense and clearly written by competitors to damage this camps business. I would happily recommend this place to anyone.

10/10! I visited this Elephant camp last year and just had to come back again. The people are so lovely, they treat everyone with care and respect. Our guide (in the photo) Dej is a treasure of a person! The locals share stories and knowledge. A spectacular experience. Being this close to the elephants and feeling a true connection is priceless! I did the full day and recommend everyone to do this too. Half a day is not enough ❤️ Thank you a million!

The elephants don’t seem to have a place to roam at their leisure. They said they go in the mountains to eat and return on their own. I hope so. We fed them while they stood behind a gate like they are in a zoo. A very small space. The best part was walking them through the jungle, down to the river for their baths. That was a great experience. What was not appreciated is we asked our guide when we got out of the van if we needed our bag, which included towel and water shoes and he said no. When we got down to the river, we absolutely needed water shoes and a towel to dry our feet to put socks and tennis shoes back on. We hopped into a rubber boat filled with water, soaking our shoes, long enough to cross to the other side of the river. Our guide, Bit, never seemed to care for the needs of the guests. We got back to eat a delicious lunch, and then we had to sit around and wait for an hour for the rafters to come back and ride in our van. They combined tours in the same van, but the time of returns did not coincide. Nobody communicated this in any way. They should have had two separate vans for the return. We get to the second part of our day, the Sticky Waterfalls, which was added on to the elephant tour, and Bit just wanted to rush it. Again, he says you don’t need your towels, we don’t even need to change into our swimsuits. We are at a waterfall. Really? He doesn’t want us to enjoy this place. Just do and get back. He says we will go in the jungle afterwards. We are thinking we paid to walk and enjoy the falls. My husband climbed without a swimsuit on. Got his shorts wet. I climbed with my purse strung around me as this was our only chance. Luckily I wore my swimsuit underneath my clothes. People sat in the falls and enjoyed the beauty but we didn’t have time for that. I would not suggest going to the falls with this tour group at all. We want a tour we can climb and know we have time to get pictures of the falls too. I don’t feel we had time to do both. I rode back in wet clothes, which was unnecessary given we brought everything they told us to bring in our bags but our guide didn’t want to be bothered apparently with us changing. Worst tour I’ve been on since arriving in Thailand January 3. I would do both just not with this company. No communication what to expect as a tourists once you got out of the vehicle. When to eat, where to stand is not sufficient. Tell us we will be walking in mud, through dung.

Very very nice sanctuary for elephants! When we arrived we felt very welcome. We immediately noticed that the people who work there have a passion for the elephants, are educated and love the animals very much. The excursions was very well taken care of. The instructions were clear and we found the information interesting. We could ask out questions and there was enough time to come close to the elephants. The group we found not to big. The food was very nice, there was more than enough. Also there was enough water. There is time to put some sunscreen on etc. I especially enjoyed the walk with the elephants, the washing and learning about making the vitamins for the elephants. You have to know it is a long drive because you go far in the jungle, but you will understand if you’re there and you can see how they live. It’s very natural and important for the elephants, we visit them and not the other way around 🫶🏻

I recently visited an elephant sanctuary for a half-day and it was an incredible experience! The people there showed deep care and concern for the elephants. We were given the opportunity to walk with the elephants and observe them as they roamed freely. Additionally, we were able to feed them and even got into the water with them. If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend visiting this place.

My friend and I spent the morning in this sanctuary, everything was perfect! From the journey from our hotel to the camp, cultural explanations about elephants in Thailand, feeding the elephants and walking in the jungle with them then swimming alongside them and a delicious local meal! All this with respect and kindness between the elephants, hosts and visitors! An extraordinary morning that will remain forever engraved in our memories! Thanks for everything again!

The most incredible experience at this ethical elephant sanctuary. From the moment the driver picked us up from the hostel I felt very comfortable and welcome. Once we arrived at the sanctuary I could see how much care goes in to treating the elephants with love and passion that they deserve. We had lots of practical activities to do, such as feeding the elephants sugar cane, hiking with them, feeding them a medicine ball and bathing them in mud and then swimming with them. The guide was clearly very passionate about his job and this transmitted it to the whole group to give us the best possible experience. Could not recommend this excursion enough!

Full day tour was absolutely incredible, you get so much elephant interaction in a way that still feels ethical. Just be warned there is a hike at the beginning! You might not want to pick full day if you don’t feel comfortable hiking for a few hours in heat. Be sure to eat breakfast beforehand. As of December 2023 there are very cute tiny puppies you can play with.

Hands-down the best real elephant experience in Thailand! You get to walk, swim and give a mud bath with these animals. Natural setting of unmarked land in the middle of the jungle. Feed the elephants and walk with them through their natural habitat. Avoid the so-called sanctuaries that exploit these beautiful creatures.

Absolutely the best Elephant sanctuary I could have imagined. I've only been to one (this one) but did research into making sure I was going to visit a place that was ethical and treated the animals well. I did my research, which led me here. It was nothing short of what I had hoped for.. We started by getting some education into what the camp offered for the elephants and education on things related. It seemed boring at first, but by the end of the lecture when we were ready to interact with the elephants, I already had a much greater appreciation for the elephants and the people at the sanctuary. They fed us phenomenal food, let us feed the elephants, swim with them, and interact with them in many ways other than riding on top of them. The place was recently bombarded with false reviews in an attempt to ruin their image, but I can assure you that this place treats the animals the absolute best and they are their main priority, getting money from tourists was only a plus. If I go back, I will not look elsewhere. Into The Wild Elephant Camp is totally ethical and will forever remain one of my all-time favorite places to visit in Northern Thailand.

Absolutely Incredible! If I could give more Stars⭐ I would, the people that work here are wonderful & clearly care so much about these beautiful animals, Pai - such a amazing/caring man clearly loves the elephants and has so much knowledge about them! Getting to walk/swim with the elephants was amazing and such an unforgettable experience.

We went on the tour today, it was brilliant. The elephants are treated fairly and equally, they are free to roam around the jungle and the camp, there was only a small wooden fence where you can feed them treats. It seemed very ethical and the workers were all very attentive, caring and playing with the elephants. The jungle hike was the best part to see the elephants moving around the jungle so freely, ripping down bamboo and bark. It takes around 90 mins to get to the camp but is worth it. Our group was only 5 so it felt a lot more intimate, but imagine in the high season we wouldn't be as lucky! Overall a great day and would highly recommend.

Amazing experience! The take you through the diets and their specific plan on how they care for the elephants. The elephants also have an area to roam at night. The guides here were very helpful and knowledgeable. The place was a great deal. I booked it through the very nice receptionist in Chiang Mai for 1800 baht for a full day. If going to an ethical elephant sanctuary is important to you, i would recommend here.

Absolutely amazing, highly recommend this elephant camp! Who ever left 1 star reviews obviously did NOT go to this camp!! You can tell the staff here really care about the elephants. The elephants are free to roam anywhere they like, there was NO chains at all! You are first educated about the elephants, you can then feed them bananas before walking through the forest with them, again they are free to walk wherever they want. You then can watch them in their natural habitat around a river before walking back to give them a mud bath and wash them off. The experience was finished with a lovely meal. Thank you for such an amazing experience!

The full day trip with “Into The Wild” was definitely a highlight of this experience in Thailand for me. I was quite sceptical about being involved in a guided tour, as it is hard to tell what the actual conditions are for the elephants from just visiting a website or reading a few reviews online. With that said, “Into the Wild” surpassed all expectations. These elephants are being looked after by some amazing people who truly care about their wellbeing. They’re visibly passionate about these animals and their land. The elephants can freely roam around a wide area consisting of a range of four mountains, a river with running clear water and a mud pool. Dej, our guide, made the day truly special. He taught us a lot about the Northern Tribes of Thailand, ancient plant-based remedies and gave us so many interesting insights into how the elephants live and behave. We have been told that activities vary depending on the season. In our case, we went for a hike with the elephants, fed them bananas and rice seeds, had lunch in the camp (veggie option available), took a mud bath with the elephants and also prepared some medicine balls for them made of all-natural ingredients grown in the camp. On top of all of this, they also pick up up and drop you off directly at your hotel. This is a truly unique and heart-warming place, they really carry out an important mission to take care of animals that would have otherwise been exploited at some other camps that offer elephant riding tours and have them confined in tiny spaces. A huge THANK YOU to all the team working there!!

Far up in the mountains and into the jungle of Chiang Mai (north Thailand) lies an exclusive site where rescued elephants roam freely. No cages, no riding. ❌ It was a pleasure to support this ethical camp which treats these majestic creatures with the respect, freedom and love they deserve. 🐘 If you're ever in thailand, check @intothewildelephantcamp .

I believe Into the Wild Elephant Camp is trying to do the right thing and Elephants do have a great environment. However I would like to suggest the following. 1. Remove elephant schedules 2. Remove the physical bathing with humans 3. increase transparency on where the elephants sleep. Thanks for making a positive change, however the is still much more we can do to provide amazing experiences that support both tourists, the elephants and your business.

Great experience! It exceed our expectations. The tour guide was awesome and gave as a great introduction and some food for thought regarding the elephants. We then met the elephants who came from the mountain when they knew we had food. They seemed very happy and well treated. I'd totally recommend it!

I booked the half-day tour directly through their website and had a wonderful time. A member of staff promptly emailed me back informing me what I needed for the trip and what time I should expect them to pick me up from my hotel. The park itself was amazing and ethical. All the elephants were allowed to roam free and you get the opportunity to feed and wash them - all whilst the staff take pictures for free. Would recommend this to anyone.

Ignore the bad reviews. This was genuinely one of the best experiences of my life. Pai and his team are amazing people who have nothing but love for these incredible animals. They are punctual, knowledgeable and, kind. Not the mention the delicious lunch 🙌 10/10 would recommend. Thanks Pai!

This elephant sanctuary was by far the highlight of my trip to South East Asia. It saddens me that they are getting spammed with 1 star reviews because the claims that these reviews are making are completely false. The people who care for the elephants are very compassionate, friendly, and knowledgeable people. In addition to hiking, feeding, and swimming with the elephants, we learned so much about their history, daily routine, familial relationships, human relationships, communication, etc. I realized while at this sanctuary I cannot wait for my next trip to Thailand. It was probably the coolest experience I have had. They have two older elephants and four young elephants. They had puppies and an older dog, as well as chickens and roosters. The tour starts off with feeding the elephants. The hike itself was of moderate difficulty. I really enjoyed it. It was very interactive with the elephants, the guides, and other people on the tour. The hike lasts about 1.5 hours. Lunch is then served at the camp. Delicious curries and fresh fruit. Following lunch we fed the elephants “medicine balls” and bathed and swam with them. Throughout this whole experience we were taught so much, as well as had fun and joked. Expect to get wet and muddy! That is part of the fun! There are showers to rinse off in. Bring a change of clothes!

Had an absolutely amazing time here today with Pai at his elephant sanctuary. It was an incredible experience that I will remember forever! The day began with Pai and the team picking us up from our hotel in Change Mai and driving us to the sanctuary. The drive is about 2 hours so plenty of time to sleep. Upon arrival he gave us a 30 minute talk about the history of his sanctuary, the history of the elephants that live there and a safety talk and what not to do around them. It was so interesting to hear how he saved some of the elephants from horrible conditions. After this he then proceeded to call the elephants from the top of his voice, and we watched as these 6 elephants came bounding down a mountain and over to greet us. It was a surreal experience feeding and patting them. From here we lead them on a walk into the forest when we watched them eat and interact with one another as well as get some treasured photos. We then took them back to the main area and gave them a mud bath, then to the river to wash them as well as ourselves. It is very disheartening to read these 1 star reviews as they are simply not true. Pai and his team act with the upmost professionalism never hitting the animals and only raising their voices if they acted out (as the young bull did a lot), A lot like a mother telling her child to stop. The allegations of a young elephant being chained at the entrance are completely fake, don't believe any of them, just focus on the actual reviews by real people.

(Translated by Google) At first we were unsure if we should book the day trip at Pai because he had bad reviews on Google & Tripadviser. However, due to the many positive feedbacks, we decided to do so. It was great! We did not regret it. The elephants are free and allowed to move as they would like. Pai also told us a lot about the history of elephants in Thailand. It was really beautiful & the animals are well taken care of. The bad reviews are probably envy of other providers ... Chiang Mai is going through a big transformation in terms of elephant usage from working animals to tourism "show" animals. the question is what kind of show do you want them to perform. Pai's operation (as he very clearly elaborates on) is one of western construct. As tourists , we want to see these animals in a natural environment , not being forced to do anything. that is precisely what you get here. in short you get to get up close with some VERY large and apparently affectionate animals , and feed and bathe them...as well as explore the area they are residing in. This is NOT Thung Yai Naresuan Wildlife Sanctuary....and if you think you would walk into a place like that and start seeing elephants / tigers /leopards youd be sorely mistaken (you could probably spend a week there and not see any of that....that is a place where WILD animals are being left alone...) This camp is the absolute best compromise. As for any 1star negative reviews...just follow the reviewer's trail back to Pai's larger/high volume competitors (who ARE using fences / pens / weapons with the animals) , and look at THOSE 1star reviews..(who's reviewers track back to legitimate tourists whove left reviews of other places in other countries) . I will say this, Pai has requested folks give honest opinions about his operation due to some of the negative reviews. He's 100% earned 5stars. Definitely check your revierwer's histories (are they just reviewing ChiangMai elephant camps? or reviewing some other places like *I* am...Dallas Texas...) I have to imagine his operation is a threat to the status quo in the rest of Chiang Mai and hence they are eager to try and shut it down and continue their easy profiteering off of "much less labor intensive operations" They wont do it easily (because the bulk of his reviewers are posting actual pictures of their experiences) Protip: There is a young male elephant here... treat him with respect. Pai will communicate that to you.

(Translated by Google) Great, I washed the elephants with mud, then they bathed in the river pond, and when we returned to the farm I fed bamboo, cane and rice with vitamins. There are 4 elephants and elephants of different ages. It is worth staying with them for a while. They are very friendly. Our youth were very pleased. I recommend this trip Barbara (Original) Super, myłam słonie błotem, potem kąpały się w rzecznej sadzawce, a kiedy wróciliśmy do zagrody karmiłam bambusem, trzciną i ryżem z witaminami. Są tu 4 słonie i słonice w różnym wieku. Warto pobyć z nimi chwilę. Są bardzo przyjazne. Nasza młodzież była bardzo zadowolona. Polecam tę wycieczkę Barbara

We had the privilege of visiting in 2019 and to this day it remains one of the most special experiences of my life. I put in so much research to ensuring I visited an ethical elephant sanctuary and not one of the many places masquerading as one and Into The Wild ticked all the right boxes. It is so clear to see the elephants are all so looked after and the staff are so caring and knowledgeable. We had the best day and cannot wait to come back and visit these beautiful souls again! Please do not pay any attention to these fake negative reviews. I highly highly recommend Into the Wild for an ethical experience!

This was one of the most memorable experiences in my life. The way these animals are treated is amazing. I was traveling with 10 other friends and they say the same thing. This place was the highlight of our trip to Thailand. The owner has rescued these elephants from horrible tourist trap conditions and I applaud him.

I visited the Into the Wild Elephant Camp as part of my trip to Thailand. I have to say the elephant experience was my top experience of the trip. The elephants were well looked after in a great natural environment and by extremely well trained and caring workers. The staff at the site were all caring and passionate about their job. The thing I most enjoyed was the education they gave us about the elephants and how some of the bad practices, unfortunately still taking place, can hurt and injure the elephants. I would totally recommend this day out!

(Translated by Google) BEST DAY EVER! The elephants live alone on three mountains and come and go as they please, because they are always free to do what they want - always. The program is excellent. At the beginning you get a deeper explanation about the elephants in Thailand - very exciting! Then you can feed them with cane sugar, go hiking with them and then of course take a bath. Pai and his staff love the animals and have a healthy relationship with them. They are all very personable and full of humor. I can only recommend this experience to everyone. (Original) BEST DAY EVER!

What an incredible facility Pai and the elephant caretakers are running. We were amazed at the beautiful bond between the caretakers and elephants and just how proud the caretakers are of their work. We had a lot of one on one time with the elephants, and all of our questions were answered. The tour was well worth our time and money! Thanks Pai and team for the wonderful experience! We can't wait to come back and visit.

We spent the full day with the lovely elephants and their excellent guides & keepers. They have loads of space to roam around and are cared for in the most ethical way possible after being rescued from their previous situations. From hiking in the hills, to bathing them in mud, feeding and washing them, I could not fault the experience. 10/10 recommend!
