A relatively small temple, close to The Three Kings. There is a new temple in the front, in the back they have an old tiny, very beautiful temple.

(Translated by Google) Wat Pang Ping is one of the oldest temples in Chiang Mai. The highlight is the Phra Chedi, which is a high base, recessing wood, 28 shape, 12-sided, a pair of chedi temples from the beginning, with a base of 10.20 meters wide and about 25 meters high in a Lanna style, craftsmanship and royal craftsmanship. In addition, the Buddha image "Phra Phet Sing Nueng" in the Viharn is one of Chiang Mai's most treasured statues that remain. Another point is the Khong Arch entrance to the Viharn which is a very beautiful cross-shaped serpent. 6pm chanting every night. The Abbot and the monks plus the laypeople are great Buddhist practitioners. They make the chanting solemn. Tonight, July 13 Wednesday, we went around the chedi to respect the Buddha.

One of the lesser visited temples in the city walls, but one of my favorites, as it is nearly opposite where I live in town. Just up from walking street (great Sunday evening market there). Quiet, peaceful, beautifully decorated and monks speak some English. It’s also one of the little known temples offering meditation and monks chat. Off the tourist trail, making for a nice low key temple exploration and if you want to take part in ‘monks chat’ or learn meditation techniques this is a really cool local place to come to.

(Translated by Google) It is opposite the famous Wat Umong Mahathelachan. I don't think there are many visitors. ) No details are known about the history of this temple. There is a presumption that it was built in the early days of the Lanna dynasty, from the reign of King Manrai to the reign of Seungmuammar. It seems that a monument of Thai Buddhist calendar 2124 (around 1581 AD) has been discovered. This is an inscription describing the donation of a Buddha statue by a nobleman named ル น จ่า, a high-ranked Moon (the head of 10,000 people). From this, it can be seen that it was built during the Lanna dynasty, but it is not clear when it was. In the temple name, there is the word “Pang Pin (ป้าน ปิ ง)”. “Phan” is an old word in northern Thailand, and it means “disturbance (ขวาง)”. “Pin” refers to the Ping River. “Parn Pin” means “obstruction of the Ping River”, which means that the water flow of the Ping River is blocked and the flow path is changed. I don't know why this temple name was given. Since it is a temple in the city walls of Chiang Mai, at least when the temple was built, it is unlikely that the Ping River was flowing here and there was something that would block the water flow. Are you saying that?) Perhaps, it is a temple built after a legend or event related to the Ping River. The temple is well maintained and the inside of the main hall and the pagoda are very beautiful. There is also Ubosotto, a unique architectural style.

The main hall and statues stand out here. I've been exploring some of Chiang Mai's temples that don't charge for entry, and I'm finding that most of them are well worth a visit. Wat Pan Ping had a lovely main hall with an interesting addition. It has covered the entrance and windows with chains. This may well reduce the heat inside, and gives an interesting look. There are a number of fine statues in the grounds. Plenty of parking area, and usually not busy. Well worth a visit if you're passing.
