Best experience in Thailand!! So much more than just a cooking class. Pat welcomed us into his home, explained and involved us in the customs of his people. It was interesting to learn about the layers of his family's beliefs, beyond simple Buddhism. We experienced these things, and we're just told. We learned about his family as we spent time in the home to five generations of his family. It's a wonderful compound, with an outdoor kitchen, herb garden, elevated barns and a home for the remaining four generations. Pat is a very likeable person who has the heart of a teacher; he wants you to understand. He explains the benefits of the herbs, while giving you some to taste, and wrapping you with a citronella leaf to keep the mosquitoes away. We made four fun and wonderful dishes, preparing the ingredients and cooking in woks and clay pots over wood fire stoves. We tasted as we added ingredients and experienced the difference they would make. It's remarkable to prepare ingredients you are not used to cooking with and creating a dish you may have had at a restaurant a few days prior, not to mention having picked the herbs in the backyard. Pat also helped you understand the tricks to making it taste its best, and what would ruin it. The food was delicious and people were the best. Highly recommend and happy to answer any questions.

Unique and immersive experience! We were treated like family. You get to learn the history and traditions of their family & the lanna people. We toured the garden and smelled and identified the ingredients that would go into our meal. We made our own curry and pad Thai.

A truly unique experience that is clearly made by the family. The comedic genius that was our guide had my group of 15 all dying from laughter from the start. As you are taken around the property and the house, you learn about the culture of the Lang people and the family's history. After the tour, we got to experience some tea and sit down with the host and talk about how the tea was made. A cooking class and garden tour were next and everything was spot on. Finally, dinner was great. The food they taught us to make tasted very refreshing and felt like you were back at home.

So far one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand has been spending half day cooking with this family. We made pad thai, learned about the local way of living, tried different teas, smoke cigar made with plantain leaves instead of tobacco, toured their garden to pick herbs for cooking and cooked delicious dishes. It was AMAZING!! Note: This is not a cooking school, but a family who opens the doors of their home to teach travelers to cook traditional dishes for a fair price. Highly recommended! Unforgettable!

My wife and I had an amazing experience cooking with this wonderful family! We were given a tour of the different style homes and learned a lot about the history around them, along with some fun facts (ask about the pee hole...). We prepared & cooked multiple dishes in the traditional Thai way, and learned about how different ingredients work together, all while enjoying the company of the family. I highly recommend a night here if you are visiting Chiang Mai!
