Small quaint airport with everything you need inside. Friendly and helpful staff! My first time in Chiang Mai, and also first time flying domestic flight, Nok Air, to Bangkok! ☺️💖🤩✈️ The front staff was so kind and gave a free keychain in celebration of their nineteenth anniversary, which I hung on my travel bag immediately😊. I love you Chiang Mai! The quaintness of this place and hospitality of the people will always be remembered and etched in my memory. 🥰🫶

Chiang Mai International Airport, located in northern Thailand, offers a pleasant and convenient travel experience. During my recent visit, I found that the prices of products and services at the airport were quite reasonable. Additionally, the airport itself was not overly large but still modern and efficient. One aspect that stood out to me was the affordability of the goods available at the airport. Whether it was souvenirs, snacks, or duty-free items, I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices. It was refreshing to see that the airport did not take advantage of tourists by inflating prices unnecessarily. The airport, while not as sprawling and busy as some other international airports, still provided all the necessary amenities and facilities. From check-in to security, everything was well-organized and efficient. Despite its smaller size, the airport had a modern and clean appearance, with comfortable seating areas and clear signage. When it came to dining options, the choices were a bit limited. The majority of the available options were fast food or quick-service restaurants. While these options may not offer the most gourmet or authentic dining experiences, they did serve their purpose for a quick and convenient meal before or after a flight. I would have appreciated a wider variety of dining options, including more local cuisine. Overall, I found Chiang Mai International Airport to be a pleasant and satisfactory travel hub. The reasonable prices of products and services were a definite highlight, making it a budget-friendly option for travelers. While the dining options were somewhat limited, the airport's modern and efficient facilities compensated for this minor inconvenience. For those traveling to or from Chiang Mai, this airport provides a convenient and hassle-free experience.

The amazing thing about this airport is how close it is to all parts of Chiang Mai. Literally just a few minutes away from the centre of town. But Apparently, it’s a little too close as there are plans for the a completely new International Airport located about 30 minutes away in the future. But for the time being, enjoy the position and the location. The airport building is not that large or expansive and facilitates both domestic and international departures and arrivals in the one elongated building. It sits picturesquely alongside the majestic Doi Suthep mountain, so you got a very nice look as you leave CM and ascend the skies for your next destination (get a window seat). It’s a lovely way to say goodbye. The area is called WING 41 and is also the HQ of the Royal Thai Airforce; so you can see some old warplanes scattered around the boundary.

Chiang Mai International Airport is one of the largest airports in Thailand, very spacious and comfortable. The flight attendants here are very polite and friendly, the flight service is also very good at a relatively cheap price. I have had great flights here.

Security is in place at all entry doors. Staff are always incredibly friendly and helpful. I needed wheelchair assistance as I'd injured my foot. Air Asia staff member met me at the plane. Arranged for another staff member to mind my luggage while he helped me to a Taxi and then retrieved my bags. On my last visit 20/12/2020 it was extremely busy and crowded. Covid19 precautions are in place. It is ILLEGAL now not to wear a mask. About time too. It can be rather daunting after a long flight, but airline, airport and taxi staff are always willing to assist with a smile. There's numerous restaurants, fast food shops and Cafés. Toilets are also plentiful and clean. On of the better airports I've entered and exited. 🙏😊

Touchdown at Chiang Mai Airport on Thai Smiles airline A320 200. Given a pineapple puff and a drink upon arrival. Exiting aircraft upon landing was very well executed with precision by air hostess. Chiang Mai Airport, though not huge in scale, is well endowed. Airport staff were helpful and had provided good service and needed info for new visitor. Tax ride to Wintree resort had shown a glimpse of the rustic and relaxed feel in Chiang Mai. Driver was friendly and converse in English. Traffic was not heavy, 3 lane road, streets were clean. It was raining. The canal was full to the brim. Lunch at wintree resort after checking in. Food is reasonable priced and not on the high side. Very well prepared and delicious. Sea bass and pineapple rice.

The airport is not so big. It's just ok. The building is old. The traffic is always busy at the front entrance drop-off. The check in process is good but not sure about the security. There are not many restaurants and coffee shops in the terminal. Car park is at the front of building.

Been here 3 times. A nice mountain view during take off/landing... Small airport but comfortable enough.... Not really far from the downtown of Chiang Mai... Also easy to get Taxi and public transport.

It's an old airport that is small. However, it can get very busy, so give yourself an extra time especially if you are using a budget airline. I used Scoot and there was no self-check machine. Although I checked-in online, it was kinda useless because I had to wait all the queue to print my boarding pass. There's no clear information about airlines and which terminal door. For international flights, there are near by the door 9-10. The airport has a massage shop, duty free, mini supermarket, etc. Although it's small, it has a bit of everything that can make flight more comfy. P.s. My flight was supposed to leave at 11:20am I am writing this review at 11:22...so expect a slight delay too.

Very efficient counter deal, security, and gate personnel. Very polite and professional. Building is old but well maintained. Inside the domestic area you will see several restaurants, gift shops, and souvenir stores. There are few toilets which are cleaned and not smelly. The airport is about 20 minutes from downtown and costs about THB 150 via Taxi, one way.

It’s going to worsts airport in Thailand. No facility for smoking room and any food restaurant inside. I guess they excuse like for healthy care and restaurant small something. But if they’re installing smoking room and restaurant as standard quality nothing annoying other customers. I hope the Chiang Mai airport will be not shameful international level one day.

It is a civil airport located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is an important airport for passengers to go to northern Thailand. Inside the airport, it is really small, but it has a lot of shops that sell mementos, the price is very expensive and also at the restaurants, so you better bring your own food. And it is the second base airport of Thai AirAsia. In the summer and autumn flight season of 2020, a total of 30 airlines operate at Chiang Mai International Airport, opening routes to 40 cities.

I recently visited the Chiang Mai Airport and was impressed with my experience. The airport is very accommodating for individuals with disabilities and pregnant women. The airport is also very clean, which made me feel more comfortable during my visit. The availability of clean drinking water and hot water was very helpful, and I appreciated this amenity the most. The food outlets at the airport were also very impressive, with a variety of options available, including halal and non-halal food. The airport is conveniently located near the center of Chiang Mai, making it easily accessible.

The airport is very close to the old town (15 minutes). Airport departure has plenty of food and beverage options. Subway, McDonald's, Burger King, Thai restaurants. Air-conditioned and well organised. Security queue was almost 40 minutes long, the day of my departure, so bear that in mind.

It is a smaller sized airport but the staff were fantastic. Got through easily and picked up a local SIM card and the guy set it up for me straight away. Taxi to hotel and the taxi driver was very nice krub.

The Eventual plan is for ChiangMai‘s international airport to be located about half an hour away. But that’s at least 10+ years away. So in the meantime we have this pretty simple straightforward airport with domestic on the right hand side and international on the left. I have used this airport many times and I’ve always felt it was functional without being attractive - like some of the other huge international airports are. But who really cares? As long as you’re not spending 12 to 15 hours here, and only here for a short time, then the attractiveness factor is irrelevant. All you really need is it for it to work, and ChiangMai International airport does that beautifully. One of the big advantages is it’s location close to the centre of town. And while waiting for your departure, you get to see a very nice view of the mountain. And when booking, ask for a left-hand side window seat and you get to see the mountain even clearer as you leave CM.

Small but a very decent airport. Since this is also a popular destination for different airlines to fly to and from, it's lacking of modernization in a way. It is still functional and the flow of passenger is decent. Maybe in the future they might renovation the buildings to make the airport even more like suvarnabhumi!

The CNX, Chiangmai airport is not crowded as before the outbreak of the COVID 19. Not so many airplanes, not so many vehicles, and not so many people are in this spot.

The big plus for this airport is its in city center and offers many options to go to city center. Blame to covid, they stop the airport bus, and the airport is a but quiet also. Hope all shops there can survive. Tips: still have many restaurants after sucurity screen so no worries. They also have book store :)

A compact airport in northern Thailand. I was landed in from Singapore at the morning and found not much options to go to the city centre. The airport itself is quite nearby and we can go outside for taking Grab. But since I'm not coming alone, we took the local cab that cost us around 150 THB for one car. Quite a good deals.

Second trip through this small but friendly and efficient airport. Coming out of pandemic there are about 65% of available shops open after you go through security and immigration. There is over of everything you need open - coffee, souvenirs, duty free, technology shops. Plenty of seating, clean restrooms.

A small-medium size airport. But got you covered for almost everything. Facilities: there are water dispensers at the gates. Shops & Stores: there’s a Dairy Queen, Burger King, coffee shops, and souvenir shops but they mostly take cash only, only if the purchase is more than 200THB Chiangmai Airport is only 10-15 minutes away from Thapae Gate, or somewhere downtown Chiang Mai, you can use Grab to get to the airport, same as you can get to downtown. For your reference, the price should be around 200-250, if you take the local taxi (Red Taxi) it could be cheaper. It’s a great experience tho. The price just gives you a reference if you don’t want to overpay the ride from Airport to downtown.

It is an easy airport to get around and finding key travel essential like Currency Exchage service, local bank ( KBANK), AVIS, Thai rent a car, Budget, airport taxi, and package tour. Flights seem to land and takes off at every hour so thats quite frequent and convenient.

"Chiang Mai Airport is truly an impressive gateway for my journeys. The first thing that caught my attention was the friendliness of the staff. From immigration to departure, the airport personnel were always ready to assist and welcoming to travelers. The airport's procedures are also a highlight. The security check and immigration process are swift, saving time and avoiding unnecessary hassles. The efficiency in these procedures is something I highly appreciate, especially when navigating through the airport in a short period. Overall, Chiang Mai Airport is not just a transit point; it's a place where friendliness and efficient processes combine to create a comfortable and pleasant experience for travelers. I am very pleased with the service and it continues to leave a positive impression with each journey!"

Convenient airport. Very close to the city. It has a decent choice of food, coffee shops and other shops. There is even a massage place. It is however too small. Even during non rush hours the check in area is overcrowded. The airport is still very 90s style. It would definitely need a revamp. A bar or restaurant after security would be nice.

This is a nice airport. It might not be new, but from what I saw it's maintained well. The airport staff were all courteous, helpful, and patient during my interactions with them. That goes for when I arrived at the international terminal and departed at the domestic 2 weeks later. Just remember, Entrance 1 is where the taxis are located upon arrival.

[April 2023] Not sure if it is the malfunction of ac or permanent situation, the airport felt so warm and they actually placed plentiful of stand fans every corner. Not the best experience for long hour boarding wait. Departure hall: They have Mcdonald, cafe, khaosoi shop etc. A couple of snack shop for souvenir shopping. Baggage wrapping counter, money exchange and telco counter. Super warm area and we are literally sweating. Boarding hall: The shopping options are plentiful but snack shop options and price are almost the same. They have massage parlour and a couple of cafe in the boarding hall. And some luxury cosmetic & perfume selection. Fast food shop is burger King. Toilet is very clean.

Small airport but very near the city centre. Journey is about 15- 20 minutes. Not much traffic jam. When u arrived, just get the airport taxi which cost 150 baht only. Or u can use Bolt. Don’t use Grab which is more expensive than the airport taxis.

Small international Airport, that try to modernized and in the process of installing many automation. Yet, there are many aspects of the airport that as a traveler you have to do yourself, such as baggage deop off at check in counters. When you are on your way out of Chiang Mai, make sure to leave plenty of time to get to the airport, as there usually heavy traffic jam.

A very small and old airport. There aren't enough seats for passengers to sit. The check-in process is one of the strangest I've ever been through in my life. We did the web check-in, but it meant nothing at the airport and we had to wait in the long queue to do the regular check-in. When our baggage was weighted and tagged, the airline agent asked us to take our luggage back and take it to the screening area. This is the first time such a thing happened to me. Multiple flights are scheduled at the same gate which is typical, but the waiting area is barely enough for passengers of one flight. Due to the large number of people waiting, the area is very hot and uncomfortable to wait. Totally bad experience.

Too small if compare with passenger Waiting time for scanning into the gate more than 15 minutes, should prepare the time for a queue line

Pretty smooth from landing to exit. Didnt have any issues booking a grab taxi to hotel. Make sure you fill the registration for covid. Airlines give you the QR code before take off.

Excessive line at domestic security with over a 30 min wait. Nothing else they could do as both security screening points were open with all available scanning machines open. Tourism is not even back to normal yet so I’d hate to think what it’s like when normality returns.

We traveled from Singapore to Chiang Mai, and there were only about 70% passengers on the plane due to the epidemic. Entry is very smooth, and the price of visa on arrival has risen to 400 baht, but luckily there are almost no people. The busy airport in the past was so depressed now.

First time landing in Chiang Mai, was greeted with a breathtaking view right away. The airport is quite small but has very unique vibe to it. However, I’d say they should open more shops. Really nothing much to do while waiting long hours.
