We didn’t stay at the hostel but walked in asking to store our bags. The staff were so kind and allowed us to at no charge. The quiet vibe, furniture and overall feed made us want to stay. We asked if we could buy a beer and just chill out. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Honestly I cannot pin point what I didn’t like about this place but I didn’t like it. The room and bathroom was clean, the staff were friendly, the price included an ok breakfast, the location was great...however I think the vibe was just off for me. The chill out areas are pretty small and it doesn’t have that friendly backpacker vibe so I ended up moving elsewhere. I would recommend this place is you’re not really into meeting new people but as a solo traveller I preferred staying elsewhere.

Nicky and Sarah are super great and nice hosts. I love that they provided a towel and, free breakfast. Counting Sheeps is located inside old town which is super convenient and really accessible to everything. Enjoyed my stay! Would recommend.

We didn't stay at this place, but we were passing by every day, our kids loved the cozy atmosphere, and we stopped once to have a look inside. Very warm-hearted people working there, they welcomed us like their guests, let the kids play and even started a cartoon for them while we were enjoying some drinks outside. Very nice place.

Loved my stay here so much. A perfect blend of social and quiet. Made some friends and had a lot of fun, but also got my peace and quiet when I needed it. Zinny at the desk was one of the best aspects of the place, I miss her already. I had a private room which was decent, no windows though. Location is absolutely perfect and there are so many activities offered that I feel like I could have stayed there for weeks without getting bored.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The hostel is clean, simple and cozy with a relaxed vibe. We had a double room, it was well thought out in that although it was not spacious, there was a lot of storage room for our luggage and suited all our needs. Although the owner (Nick) does not live at the hostel, he arranges activities that guests are welcome to join. I joined him on a trail walk/run up the local mountain, Nick was great company and an excellent guide. It was a very nice way of seeing a different side to Chiang Mai, the highlight of the morning trip being eating strawberries and drinking a coffee near the top of the mountain at a local villagers farm cafe with spectacular views. The downside was that I was hobbling for a week afterwards owing to my lack of fitness! I very much recommend counting sheep hostel and would definitely stay here again, thanks.

Definitely check this place out! Amazing location in Chiang Mai with a wonderful staff. Everything’s pretty basic in the dorms but it’s clean and well maintained!

That place is just amazing, we loved our stay in Chiang Mai so much and I have to say that one of the main reasons is because we stayed at that beautiful place. It’s really well located, the food market and sunday market are close, lots of cute coffee shop, restaurants and bars around, etc. In this hostel, we met a lot of nice people, spent great times chilling and going out together, plus we got to know Nicolas and Sarah, the owners, and could benefit from their support and recommandations for activities (and we were never disappointed !!) I also got to understand better the Thai culture talking with them. Plus the place in itself is cosy and nice !! If we go back to chiang mai, well go back there for sure 😊❤️

I have to say, the owners Nick and Sarah are some of the most awesome people you will meet in Thailand, and run an awesome business here at Counting Sheeps. The rooms are spotless and comfy, wifi is fast, the atmosphere and vibe are next level, cheap cold beers in the lounge, and plenty of awesome travelers to meet! The natural and unique wood furniture everywhere really sets the tone perfectly. Nick and Sarah from the moment I was there proved to me they are there to make your experience the best it can be. Before I knew it, I had a map unfolded in front of me with writing on it for must see places and food recommendations. Sarah gets just as excited talking about the things to do in this beautiful city just as excited as you will be doing them. If you want approved ethical elephant experiences, or maybe want to explore trails on mountain bikes, or have something else in mind, these two will have the perfect recommendations and will set your trip up perfectly. Another huge plus, for me at least, is they both speak amazing English and are a blast to chill and talk to. I will be calling this home my next trip to CNX, that is for sure!

Great location to catch sleep. Very cool lobby area to lounge and nice porch area. You can purchase beer and drinks at the front desk and there is breakfast in the morning. The room was clean and functional. First night our sheets were stained, we requested a change of sheets and it was addressed immediately. The staff at the desk are willing to help you schedule activities and transportation. Laundry service available.

Awesome hostel! Amazing owners and staff who will always help you with any query or problem and go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. They can help you to organise transport, tours, activities etc. Prices of rooms and refreshments are reasonable and communal areas are comfortable. Very close to some of the best things to do and places to see in Chiang Mai city.

Absolutely fantastic!! The best out if 4 places I stayed in all of Thailand. The staff is the best, friendly, helpful and most accommodating group of people I met here. The hostel provides a great common area with excellent social interaction. All of the staff speaks English very well. I cannot express how happy I am I stayed here.

We had a wonderful stay overall at this hostel. It is very clean and beautifully decorated, and the staff are incredibly nice and helpful. The female dorms are spacious and there are two nice bathrooms for 6 beds which is an excellent ratio. Our only serious complaint is the mattresses. We don't expect much when it comes to hostel mattresses however these were particularly uncomfortable, and definitely necessitated a few extra Thai massages, which is pretty hard to complain about.

Super cute place to stay, and a decent walking distance to the heart of Phuket. Very clean, and nice hosts, with a nice lounging area inside and out. We stayed in a private room which was really really nice, so I can't speak much for the shared dorms. Breakfast is basic, but still available, and there's a cute cafe connected to it. If you're doing any tours or excursions, the owners will be more than willing to help, they're very nice.

I stayed at a private room. It was comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom. The common areas are great and conducive to socializing with other travellers. Nicholas, the owner, is very nice as well. 100% would recommend for travellers looking for a low-key hostel in Chiang Mai!
