Best hostel we stayed in Chiang Mai! They organizing evening events and it’s easy to meet people. The staff was super nice to talk to and was very helpful with everything that we wanted to do in Chiang Mai!! Rooms, bathrooms and showers were clean and practical. And we liked the common areas where you could chill. Definitely checking in there if I’m back in town!!

Absolutely amazing hostel for backpackers. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - they gave us so many recommendations for what to do during our stay in Chiang Mai, including advice on the best companies to book with etc. The hostel also offers group activities such as seeing a Muay Thai fight together, which is a great way to meet the other lovely backpackers. Also very affordable with great facilities: each bed has a curtain and a fluffy blanket, which make a big difference when you have been travelling a lot and really need a good night’s sleep! There is also a nice common area with a TV, aswell as communal tea and coffee. This has been one of my favourite hostels to stay in during my time in Thailand (currently on hostel number 12 and counting) and I would strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a sociable yet comfortable and friendly place to stay. Thank-you for such a lovely experience!

Perfect stay! Amazing location. Hostel is the perfect level of social and relaxed. Everyone who works there is so lovely. Also the most comfortable pillows & mattress I’ve ever experienced in a hostel!!

Absolutely phenomenal hostel. The staff are so helpful and friendly, there’s tons of activities and the hostel itself is super social - though there’s certainly more private areas if you need some time off. This hostel really turned my stay in Chiang Mai around :).

Definitely one of my favourite hostels I have stayed out, the staff are so nice and helpful. The beds are extra comfy and you get 2 pillows which is greatly appreciated. Located near the old town so great locations. Trips and events are available at this hostel as well. Highly recommend.

Very social and fortunately not party hostel - I instantly met people during the check in and went to the sticky waterfalls with them. Beds are big, have curtains, big pillows and are overall very comfortable. There are enough bathrooms and they were clean all the time. The hostel is managed by a lovely family who is so nice and engaged in hosting events. For me, there will be no other stay in Chiang Mai than Family Home 2!

Extremely comfy beds, very friendly and helpful hosts. Great nightly activities and good places to socialize as well as quiet places for more alone time. The privacy of the dorm beds was surprisingly nice with the full length curtain.

I definitely recommend! Such a nice host that helps you for whatever you need! Cool vibe and some activities with the hostel that create a nice bound with the other occupants…definitely recommend!

I absolutely love this hostel, the owner Joe is the absolute best. He is so kind and altruistic, and he will do anything and everything for the people who stay in his hostel. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, look no further than Family home 2. I love it here and I love Joe.

I‘ve been backpacking for 9 months now and I still think about this hostel. Joe and his family are the best people and hostel owners I‘ve meet. Staying here truly is like finding a home 💛 I hope one day I‘ll come back

Super friendly and helpful staff! The rooms weren’t anything fancy but clean and worked just fine! Very social hostel and we met lots of really great people!! Great location for exploring Chiang Mai old town.

Absolutely fantastic hostel, really sociable and some great events organised. Rooms are spotless and the AC works really well. The owner Joe has perfect English and is so helpful to everyone. Grant the receptionist is also brilliant at his job and is a great guy. It really is a Family home as you feel very welcome here and they do everything they can to accommodate any requests. They organised a hill tribe trekking tour for us which was the highlight of my trip.

Best Hostel! Joe is doing such a good job, he tries everything to fulfill your wishes and helps you to find good activities. You can book a lot of activities at the hostel that helped us a lot for the organization. I can definitely recommend the daytour to the elefantcamp! He always helps to establish contact between his guests, we met many great people and met many of them again on our trip through Thailand (and Bali too:)) The room was also very clean and you have enough space for yourselves (also in a dorm). Our dorm was always cold when we went in, that was perfect. Can definitely recommend this hostel its amazing! Thx for the great stay

Best hostel I stayed at in Thailand. Joe is an absolute legend who wants to help, connect and have fun with everyone there. I met lots of people here, lots of activities and played football with Joe and some other residents from the hostel against Thai youth. Can't recommend it enough!

Amazing hostel! Ran by a really nice family. Each dorm bed is similar to a capsule, so there’s still a sense of privacy - and each have their own locker + lock, light, and outlet. Jimmy Coffee is owned by the family and connected to the hostel and has really amazing coffee and food for really affordable prices! I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Great hostel! Full of backpackers and you usually find people to do all sorts of activities with. No need to do that junge tour alone. At the same time it isn't a party hostel so you can actually sleep at night. If you run out of ideas of what to do in Chiang Mai, the owner and staff can always recommend something you didn't think of. Had a great time there and will absolutely come back on my next trip to Chiang Mai!

Cheap and clean. There is every thing you need (toilets, shower, breakfast, locker, AC...) and beds are separated with wooden walls. Hosts are very kind and help you with everything. It is also very calm at night (no party) so a great place to sleep.

Friendly staff and pretty clean, though there are ants on the main level. However, we were basically the only people in the whole hostel, so no friends to make really. Also really didn't like how the bunks were laid out, I managed to give myself a good bloody scratch on the exposed metal of the locker that's situated inside your sleeping area.

I used to stay with Joe at his first place, Absolute House and it feels the same. Nice atmosphere, super helping staff, and big areas to chill out. The bathrooms are super clean and the bed setup in the dorm is big and super comfortable. When you stay there, it just feels like home. Nui, Joe and Robert will organize activities and meetup around Corean BBQ, beers, boxing game and so much more 😁

My favourite hostel I've stayed in!! Really friendly & helpful owners who are just lovely. Comfy beds with a private feel and plenty of bathrooms on every floor. They can organise any trip you want for you. A friendly and social atmosphere good for meeting new people or just chilling out. We even enjoyed a free bbq by the hosts on one of our night. 100% can't recommend enough!

Joe is the best host ever!!! If you are looking for a nice affordable and clean place, look no further! On top of that Joe will help you with anything you need, especially for things to do in Chiang Mai, he is very kind and helpful!

Really liked my stay at Family Home 2. Joe, the owner, and his family + staff are really kind and helpful. Bathrooms and showers clean. Also: Private bunks with light and electricity, comfy duvet and a pretty big personal safe. Breakfast is free, watercooker available and a fridge with drinks and milks. Prices are good.

I liked this place. We showed up at The Islander Hostel down the street. They were full and directed us to their friends here at Family Home 2. Family Home 2 was very quiet, very basic, very warm in the common areas, very nice in the rooms. The decor is nothing to write home about. The bunks are neat capsule style bunks. They appear to be built with old materials but they are very clean. The floor in the rooms is a cheap industrial carpet loosely placed on a tile floor. Like I said, it is basic, but feels very clean. Bathrooms and toilets are good. If you want a cheap place to stay and don't mind the bland/old decor, this place is perfect.

The hostel is really new and still under construction in some parts. Still it is already really lovely. Especially the hosts are very hospitable and helpful. We stayed in the 8-bed dorm room, in which we were the only ones due to rainy season. The rooms are really clean, the have 2 toilets and 2 showers for each room. They have air-conditioning and beds are big (each with a locker). You can easily walk to the old town (just down the street) and there's a nice market nearby. We can highly recommend this hostel.

👍👍 Excellent service from all staff. They were attentive and polite. The design of the Café created a wonderful and cosy dining atmosphere.
