Perched on top of a hill with (what feels like a 101 ) steps ( after the hill).. only to arrive at the top gate and see the temple with a golden Buddha closed.. squirrels running in the trees.. and an empty courtyard.. and a radio blaring somewhere. This temple is out of the way (albeit in the town limits). Perhaps less aspiring than other temples.. and with the hill and steps to climb to get to the top.. understandable if you do think twice about visiting in the heat of of day. Another temple visit done. Check.

This hill top temple dates back to the 14th Century and contains the ashes of King Mengrai of the Lanna Kingdom. Highly revered by all the people of Northern Thailand. It is always humbling to be in a place that has so much history and a monument to a leader who still such a strong influence over his kingdom's descendants.

This old temple is located on a hilltop with very good scenery. Here’s very peaceful and quiet since very few tourists make their way to this temple. There are old wood carving works which is just amazing. The main door is also very remarkable There are also good and cheap restaurants nearby

This historical old temple with Chedi of King Mengrai's ashes. Located behind Wat Pha Kaew, on a small hill top. Thanks to King Mengrai and King Naresuan we are able to be at Chiang Mai & Chiang Rai today. For those interested in Northern Thai history can read further in internet search. Kindly pay your respect to King Mengrai if you are here. King Mengrai was 25th King of Chiang Sean, Ngoenyong Reign 1261 - 1292. Become first great king of Lana Kingdom. Reign 1292 - 1311. Founder of Chiang Mai as capital of Lana Kingdom 1292 - 1558. Born 1239 Died 1311.

Must visited temple when you visit Chang Rai. This is the FIRST EMERALD BUDDHA STATUES in Thailand. All the exterior and interior is amazing. The details is phenomenal. TIP DIGITAL INSURANCE is one of the main sponsor of this temple. Clean and very calm. Great parking options and a lot to see. Should be around 30-45 mins visit.

👍👍 Some call this Muang Chiang Rai Park, city park, flower garden. Nice on Saturday night. Have a walk on walking street then end here for a rest. Best is in the winter time. Flower festival and live performance by Thai pop star singer here. Free entrance for everyone. Next to the park is a huge lot of...
