Once in a life time that has to visit this amazing place. Doi Luang Phayao is a 1,694 m high mountain. It is the highest point of the Phi Pan Nam Range. I started trekking from 9am and reach to the peak at 3:30pm. Took me around 6.5hours with 10km distance.

To start with, there are multiple entry points for this national park, each with different attractions. This review will cover the entry point on the east side of the mountain, about a 60 minute drive south of Chiang Rai. Entry fee for foreigner is 100 thb plus 30 thb fee for a car. Although I only came for the day, camping here would be a very nice experience. Set your tent near the stream and enjoy the sound of water all night. There is a first aid station and a restaurant on site, although there was nobody working at the restaurant while I was there. Not a big surprise, as I was the only visitor in the park that day. There are two main attractions in this part of the park - a 2 km up and back trail accessing 9 levels of the Pu Kaeng waterfall, and a 1.2 km loop nature trail, which encompasses part of the waterfall trail, up to level 5. They can be combined into a single hike. This time I only walked the waterfall trail. The trail was clearly marked and well maintained most of the way up. Towards the top, the steep parts of the trail had been eroded away a bit, and the trail was blocked just before the top of level 9. There are many nice photo opportunities along the trail. I went up and down in around 75 minutes. Plenty of mosquitoes, but thankfully no leeches or pit vipers, critters which I have recently tangled with in other nearby national parks. I had walked the nature trail back in 2019, but I didn't walk it this time. At that time it was a nice walk, enjoyable but not stunning. Trail was not as easy to follow as the waterfall trail, imagine it was not as heavily traveled, however I can't accurately comment on the current state of the trail. Toilet buildings were clean and had sit-down toilets, water hoses, paper, and soap. The entire area was litter free. Overall a nice experience, definitely worth the trip and entry fee.

Doi Luang Chiang Dao and its National Park is an amazing place to visit, with possibilities to climb the third mountain top of Thailand, the end of the Himalayans. You also can stay and enjoy tribal villages, their welcoming, warmth even though their harsh farmers lives.. To climb Doi Luang though an authorization is necessary.. Authorization to ask at the National Forestry dept situated on the way to Wat Phla Phlong (another unique temple to visit too with view above canopy and plenty of Buddhist precepts along the steps to the temple.

Lovely national park. It's very big, and it has multiple entrances. I've been in the part of that park which has a quite famous waterfall Pu Kaeng. It's picturesque, but don't forget to wear proper shoes, because you'll need to go through the trail to see all 9 tiers of the waterfall. Also, the staff at the park entrance is just lovely, very polite and friendly.

Nice national park, but I have a bad feel that it is not available as much as we wish. Of course from the city (Chiang Rai) it is very easy. The way is mostly main big road. But chance to get into the park is quite lower. Maybe somebody did it but for us were also hard to find some good informations about this place. I wished to go some trek into the mountains, but we gave it up. Luckily we had a motorbike so we could ride around whole national park and made many stops during our way which was from Friday to Sunday. Accommodation is with booking or airbnb also very easy to find around.

Doi nok Phayao trek, it 10 km trek. It is so beautiful as the mountain is between two province, Phayao and Lumpang. You can have two days trek for expert and three days trek for easy trek. It is worth going.

Cool park, nice waterfalls, hard to climb if you're not very sporty (also don't bring nice shoes) 100B per person for foreigners

Dry beautiful area to explore. Do stop somewhere for coffee. Unfortunately it was already incredibly polluted and we couldn’t see much from the viewpoints.

The locals usually have a picnic when it’s sunny also a lot of visitors have trekked. I’d recommend come here when the weather is fin...
