Much less crowded than other similar places up there. Amazing view, and do look for other spots than just the obvious. Really nice food stalls at the foot of the climb. No need to bring breakfast..

Spectacular. This place is a must visit. Stunning vistas across the Mekong River into Laos on side and beautiful mountain scape of Chiang Rai on the other. Sunset and sunrise here is sublime.

One of the most wonderful places I've visited in Thailand. After spending one year in Thailand and riding thousands of kilometers on the bike, this is my number one destination. If you can speak some Chinese it's very useful. There are several great options for accommodation

Sheep and sheep and sheep!! are more 100 sheeps!! They are so very hungry all time. They are very like grass, and you can feed them by purchase a grass just 20 baht. This place is a good fresh air , and you can hear sheep's sound like "baee baee" all day

Hiked both Phu Chi Fa and this trail up to Doi Pha Tang 102, and found this vantage point to offer more spectacular views of both sunrise and sunsets. It is also a gentler, easier hike than Phu Chi Fa; start of the trail was some concrete stairs from the entrance gate leading off from the carpark, followed by a relatively flat dirt trail then ending with wide concrete stairs leading up to peak 102. Easily managed by my two young children and whole ascent from the carpark took about 20-25 minutes. From the peak, you can see the mountain ranges on the Thailand side to the west and the range on the Laos side to the east. The nearby peaks also made for many interesting photo angles.

You can drive your car up here and walk on slope around 10-15 min to the highest. This mountain has located on the border btw Thailand and Laos. You can view MeKong river from the mountain.

Caught the most beautiful sunset at Doi Pha Tang and unblocked view of Lao-Thai border, Phu Chi Fa peak and Mekong river. Undisturbed by massive tourists; this is a hidden gem. The locals did say the sunrise is as good too. Unfortunately, we need to leave for the day. A must come if you are in Chiang Rai.

One of the great mountain in Chiang Rai to visit during winter sunrise to see the incredible view. Is a bit of difficult to get here by your self. Use local tour to get here. If your are use to drive with narrow Thai mountain road driving, drive with great care. It is a bit further than Phu Chi Fa.

I think I missed the trail for doi pha tang but if you pass the gate and the stalls you can park at the end there is also a trail that leads you to a top of the mountain. The gate/barrier was open and you can walk up the hill. You will see 2 viewpoints on the way. Beautifull sunset.

Great place for a quick stop to enjoy some scenic mountain views. Several shops in the parking area offer food & snacks, tea tasting, fruit wines & souvenirs.

Stunning panoramic view of Thailand and Laos border where Mekong river flows in between two countries surrounded by mountains. Visitors should plan at least 1 hour from the entrance gate to the view point. I tried Thai rice cake(Khao chii) made of red sticky rice at a food stall near the gate which is recommended if you have not tasted.

Interesting pha tang mountain with a rich history. Climb to the top isn't hard. But there are horses that can be rented to ride to the top Can be quite chilly Definitely worth the visit!

It's a peak with a lot of untouched natural beauty and a viewpoint that doesn't require too much hiking to reach.
