I visited this point in the afternoon in 2023. It was as crowded as it gets at the border area. The monument had some visitors but it was not crowded. Pros 1. The last point for Thailand. We could see Myanmar across the river. 2. We could see some of the border control activities from a distance. 3. There are several shops that sell souvenirs, gifts, food and a lot more. 4. A DIY store at the place. We could buy pretty much anything there. 5. Did not find any scamsters 6. The souvenir sellers are likely not overcharging. 7. Can visit for free 8. The Thai driving licence is a must have to avoid fines. 9. Must carry passport. It might be enquired and checked at any border post along the way. Considerations 1. The area gets really crowded. It could take 20+ minutes for the u-turn. 2. Tricky to find parking spot. Might need to park on the side of the road.

Nice place to click a picture. You can literally see Myanmar buildings a few metres away separated by Ruak river. The area has lots of stuff closed and looks a little deserted after covid.

Northern most of Thailand. Border with Myanmar, but land border still closed for now. Has shops around selling jade, jewellery, coffee, tea, snacks etc.

This is the place where you could see 3 countries Thailand, Burma and Laos. Here you could also see Mekong River and Ruak River meets. Make sure you bring hats with you since the sun is very strong and there is barely any shade. Across the street there is a souvenir stores where you can buy tea, hand crafted hats, knitting bags. The prices are very reasonable and cheap so I didn’t bargain any.

I had been to the Golden Triangle, but wanted to reach the most northerly point in Thailand, and this is it. Strange place, the border is closed to everyone, including Thai people. Houses face each other across a muddy stream, you could throw packages to each other across this river, it's so narrow at this point.

The Border just reopened after 3 years so there was lots of traffic and lots of people. It was nice to see all the people passing over and looking happy to go back to the neighboring countries.

Sweet homecoming for me to see this spot again after 2.5 years away from Thailand. The border bridge behind the sign is still closed. So happy to say I was here.

It is what it is. Kinda cool that this is the northern tip of the Kingdom but if you’re not a romantic, then it’s easy to see this as a cement bridge across a small, polluted river. Then again, I drove an hour here to see it so what does that say about me! Haha

Really cool market near this area that we found after stopping for a bit. Very local very cheap and there's a super cool bar in the middle of the market owned by such a lovely man - it was called cowboy bar I believe. Worth checking out !

Really authentic trip which we only did by chance. Amazing amount of shops and stalls and really interesting to be right at the Myanmar border knowing what is going on just over the border. Recommend a visit if you have time

Pretty cool little area. It’s a very busy border crossing. Unfortunately, for us we were not allowed to cross. Myself having an American passport and my gf having a Filipino passport were stopped at the border. Not allowed to pass. Only persons with a Myanmar passport can go through. It was a Monday evening and it was extremely busy with cars and people crossing. It’s mostly just a photo op and a chance to buy some souvenirs. We had a few drinks and a good meal at a restaurant that overlooks the river. It’s not a beautiful place but it was okay for a day trip. Go to Laos for your visa run as it’s much less people and it’s actually open.

Although it is far away, I am very happy to see the bridge leading to Myanmar by land. There is a local market nearby so it is very busy

I came Mae Sai just to visit the world famous Khunnam National Park. Unfortunately it is closed for renovation until the Octorber 16th 2022. The mountains nearby look majestic.

Interesting place. Little market nearby, easy to reach from Chiang Rai (1h 30min drive) and just 30 minutes from the hills and great views of Chiang Rai valley.

The border crossing is closed due to COVID-19 at this time and it's unknown when it will reopen. This is as close as one can get to the northern most point of Thailand, I tried to drive to the actual top of Thailand and was stopped by a military check point and told to turn around. The joys of exploring a foreign country 😊😊

For the fun of standing at the northernmost point of Thailand. How ever when I look at the map I think there are places there are further north in Thailand. I found a place further west that seemed more northerly, but when I tried to drive there I was stopped by border guards who said I couldn't get all the way to where I wanted to go. Because of Covid, there are tighter controls along the border, so I'll give it another try next time I'm in the area
