I was in Chicago last week for work and was looking for somewhere to work out while up there. I'm fairly new to CrossFit but the staff at The Foundry were fantastic. I showed up a little early to introduce myself and was greeted by Jon, a beast of an Englishman who clearly knew what he was doing. He was very encouraging and welcoming and treated me like one of his regular customers. The workout was fantastic. The instruction was top notch. The other patrons were supportive and encouraging. All in all, it was a great environment and a great experience. I know where I'll be getting my WOD's in when I go back up there. I'd highly recommend this box to anyone.

I've been doing CrossFit for close to five years and have had the opportunity to visit boxes all over the country. There are typically two key factors that separate one gym from the next: the community and the coaches. When I moved to the downtown area of Chicago, I was dreading changing from my "home" gym to a new one. I had checked out a few boxes in the River North / Loop area and none of them had the type of energy I was looking for. Luckily, I was referred to The Foundry by one of my old coaches. From the very first e-mail exchange with the coaches at the gym, I already knew it was going to be the right decision. When I dropped in on my first class, I was given a warm welcome and introduced to the other members in the class. The instruction given prior to the workout was spot on and ensured everyone would stay safe with no one in the class left wondering what to do next or how to scale the workout if needed. That class was about five months ago and since that time I've not only had the pleasure of getting to know the community at the gym, but I've also been hitting PRs consistently thanks to the programming. I can confidently say that I've never been so eager to jump out of bed at 5:30am to hit the gym. It's not just about the great results I'm getting, but about the people that support those results and push me to be at my best all while having a great time. If you're looking for a gym that offers top notch results, solid instruction, and a great community, look no further. The Foundry is the right decision.

Great gym that is very well organized, clean and inviting. It's spacious and has a large variety of equipment (they even added pegboards recently). The coaches are fun and do a great job at drilling movements into your brain (and muscles) before the WOD. They have a fun ice-breaker pretty much every day to get the members to know each other a little more. Their nutritional programs, strongman competition and the Foundry Open are all fun and engaging. They regularly have other useful workshops/sessions throughout the year so you are always learning something new here. Overall, a good crew who do a great job at managing the box in Chicago downtown.

If improving your fitness and physique are part of your goals, look no further. All you have to do is show up consistently, and the rest will follow. I had some pretty ambitious goals over the last year, and I'm glad I could have The Foundry help me achieve these goals. The coaches are some of the most intelligent athletic people I have known. The nice thing about the Foundry is the wealth of knowledge each of the coaches bring to the table--- just a short example: Fabio knows exactly which of my buttons to push... he knows how to make me approach death's doorstep without actually walking thru the door and has really helped me increase my endurance and intensity in my workouts. He is lasso very patient with me as it takes me a very long time to learn a new physical skill. Adrian helped me learn to run properly (well, I'm still far from perfect, but he helped me in the right direction), and work on my breathing technique. Jeff is the obstacle course expert and also great to turn towards for nutrition pointers. Justin is just great at breaking down complicated lifts and is all around a great motivator. The other great part of this gym is the sense of community that is amongst the members. I'm a pretty shy individual and it is hard for me to take the first step at introducing myself, but after killing a WOD with your fellow gym goers, nothing brings you together better than discussing how much that workout just sucked (in a good way, of course!)

I recently started CrossFit, and was in Chicago on a family vacation. I was able to drop in and train at The Foundry, and it was awesome! The coaching staff provided detailed, yet simple instructions, and the other members were welcoming, supportive, and trained like absolute savages. They have a great facility and very positive atmosphere, and I highly recommend checking this place out!

I started CrossFit about two years ago, after getting interested in weight lifting. I had originally joined one gym, but after moving, had to find another. The Foundry was in my neighborhood, so I decided to check it out. The coaches have been incredibly helpful, always offering tips on how to improve form and technique, while encouraging me to challenge myself beyond what I thought I could do. Additionally, and even more importantly, the community of people at The Foundry has been amazing. I knew very few people when I moved to Chicago, and have forged some wonderful friendships. I definitely encourage anyone in the area to drop in or join!

I have been a member of the Foundry for over 3 years now and there is a reason why I haven't left! Beyond the carefully crafted workouts and diverse programming available (barbell club, team workouts, Crossfit, etc.), the community is what I cherish most about this box! It's amazing to have built such an awesome network through a mutual love for barbells and sweat. I am grateful for The Foundry, its coaches and community and look forward to much more fitness in the future!

Crossfit Foundry is the best Crossfit in Chicagoland I have worked out at. Justin, owner of the gym is professional and passionate business man who really cares every client of his in person. Trainers Matt Holden is the rockstar and cool guy to work with. His communication is awesome and he is very professional and humorous guy. I've also worked with Ratih who is also a good trainer and professional. Overall the gym amenities are good and facility is clean and tidy. I recommend Foundry Crossfit if someone is looking for a crossfit in the Chicago downtown area.

Awesome people, community, coaching and location. I have been doing Crossfit for several years and this is hands down the nicest gym I have been too and been a member of. The programming and personal touch that the coaches add is second to none. They truly care about each athlete to help them achieve their fitness goals and support their fitness passions.

I moved to Chicago last June and joined The Foundry a few weeks after I got settled in. From the moment I joined, I felt like I had been a member for years. It has been about 6 months since I initially joined and I have made some really great friends, hit a couple of PRs, and improved overall as a crossfit athlete. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They pay close attention to their members and invest time and focus to their success; helping to set goals and show encouragement when athletes are ready to be pushed. I have grown as an athlete here and I'm excited to continue to grow here.

I've tried a number of boxes in Chicago and this one is by far the best. The gym is spacious so it never feels like you are over crowded and the occasional times you do have to share a piece of equipment, all of the members are really nice about it. I've been coming here for almost 4 years now and it feels like family. Shoutout to Coaches Jeff and Adrian for going above and beyond in their knowledge, coaching abilities and overall investment in their athletes.

I have been a member the Foundry for a few years and have not only appreciated the physical and mental workout challenges but also enjoy the ongoing friendships and peer "competition". The workout facility is one of the best I have seen compared to other crossfit gyms I dropped into in other cities and in Chicago. And now we have climbing peg boards!

I only got to spend a month at The Foundry since I moved out of the city, but they were an excellent gym! The first two weeks are a foundations course where they teach you the basics and slowly introduce WOD. Each instructor and personnel l I interacted with was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable. I had joined a crossfit gym a few years ago where the instructors went through the motions but didn't teach proper form. I ended up injuring my back and was hesitant in trying it again. The instructors are excellent. They focus on form and doing everything possible to keep everyone safe and injury free. I would definitely join again if I end up moving back to the city.
