I never considered myself a coffee person until I was told about Cafe Jumping Bean. I highly recommend the Thai iced coffee and focaccia pizza; you won’t regret it! I make it a point to stop by almost every week and pick up that combo specifically. To top it all off, it’s always nice seeing the new artwork on the walls while you wait!

Quaint little coffee shop. The espresso and cookie was delightful to have. Staff was welcoming to have me. Intrigued by the art decor. Spent over $5 altogether.

Wow is what I said about everything on this first experience I had at the Cafe Jumping Bean. Wow looking at the great colors they have on the outside; wow at the decore and hand written menu; wow at the wrapping on my Lox Bagel; wow at the Mocha Almond Delight flavor explosion in my mouth; wow at the look and taste of the bagel. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. This is on my favorite list here on Google maps and I will be going when I need some more wow in my life.

I’ve been stopping by for coffee here now for around 10 years. The coffee is always freshly brewed and never disappoints. I usually go for the cafe con leche. I’ve never had much of their food aside from the black bean burger. Which is always well made here so I usually stick to what I like.

Once upon a time, in a land called the 1990s, dinosaurs roamed the earth and coffee shops where people could unite to read, write and discuss ideas whilst sipping from giant mugs abounded. Cafe Jumping Bean proves joints like that still exist. Break away from the chains peddling caffeinated milkshakes and make a trip to Pilsen to support this longstanding institution. Coffee is strong, smooth and delicious. The bites they offer are exceedingly flavorful and filling. We tried both the Lox and Mollete (add avocado). Bright, cool, funky and inviting just like you remembered and thought the future would always be. Make a stop, get out of the car, and spend your money at a place with heart, soul and comfort intact. You know, like how coffee is supposed to be. (Shoutout to Luis Gusto and his film about Pilsen on YouTube 🏆🌟)

I ordered the Mollete (I added avocado) & a oat milk latte with Mexican chocolate. Both were greats. Customer service was great. Food/beverage arrived promptly — even on a busy day. Medium sized menu. Enough to make me want to come back and try something else too. There is limited seating… less than 20 seats. Most took it to go. Overall good experience. Diverse crowd of folks coming it. I’d recommend checking it out.

Had a nice breakfast at Jumping Bean. We wanted sandwiches and good coffee, which we also got. However the choice of coffee was not without complication. I thought they had a cappuccino latte combo, but I got a latte with cinnamon. It was not what I had in mind, but it tasted surprisingly good. I was very pleased with the tuna salad sandwich. It tasted great and was big enough to also last for a light lunch 😋 My friends who I was with also struggled with understanding what the staff said, but we were all pleased with what we got to eat and drink. Maybe if we come back an other time ordering would be easier and we could give the extra star?

The coffee is good--my fave is the Thai coffee! The molletes are my fave because they can be veganized--just ask for no cheese and add avocado. What really makes Jumping Bean stand out, though, is the staff. They're genuinely nice people who seem to be on a first name basis with all the neighborhood locals. Also, they support local artists which speaks to my soul! Go give them your dollars and keep the big chains out of El Barrio!

Incredible staff, LOCALLY OWNED, delicious coffee selections without the pretentiousness of some café experiences. A multitude of dairy alternatives and pastry selections. No egg options for food but a surprisingly decent bagel, said as someone who has tasted the best of the New York tri-state area. A Pilsen landmark and institution.

3.8 | my friend took me here because she’s a big fan. I enjoyed the focaccia sandwich so much. the bread was incredibly fresh and definitely a good spot to grab a sandwich. I would definitely come back just for that. where this spot lacks for me is the coffee. maybe next time I’ll go with something a little more fun like a frozen drink or a just a black coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and wished it was a little more balanced and well steamed. my friend grabbed an iced coffee and enjoyed it, so maybe that’s the way to go. it isn’t a specialty coffee space, but rather a more traditional coffee company that has an extensive menu. which is totally fine, you just have to find the drink that works for you or skip it altogether and just grab their sandwiches. the focaccia is apparently the most popular sandwich and it’s made in-house. I got it with ham and even after it sitting and not eating it immediately it still tasted so good.

Happy 28th birthday to this beautiful gathering place that celebrates its vibrant community of voices, built on memories and stories from one of the coziest spots in Pilsen. Seeped in individuality, culture and understanding that every day is an opportunity to have a delightful visit to your favorite cafe for a sip and a bite of a treat made with so much love.

Best Cuban sandwich for a fair price! The dirty chai is fairly priced & so good! The chocolate croissant tastes so good. I can't say enough good things about this place. I think it's Hispanic locally owned & I love to support that. The workers are attentive. I didn't order the lux bagel but I was shocked how cheap it was I would order it next time.

Not sure if I went at a bad time but employees were not welcoming or friendly from what I was used to in the past. They did get my food order wrong but since I was greeted with cold attitudes I did not feel comfortable approaching them again. The only good thing from this experience was the coffee.

I haven't been here in years (decades, really!). It was nice to return to a place of nostalgia. I ordered an iced Carmela and it was perfect! I would've given it 5 stars if it wasn't for not being to sit down at a table to truly reminisce about my youth 😄 Happy you're still around!

New Favorite Coffee place in Chicago! I just tried Cafe Jumping Bean out as I was searching to support non-chain shops and was SO GLAD that I did! It's a small shop but with a big heart and super cool atmosphere in the corner of an historic building. Some of the most friendly and fast customer service I've ever had at a coffee shop or any other shop for that matter. You feel like family the way that they treat you. But great service doesn't matter unless there is also great product--and Jumping bean DEFINITELY has GREAT coffee and food! You will find full-flavored and smooth coffee, expertly prepared by the great staff. I had the Cuban sandwich which was probably the best Cuban I've had--not greasy, full of quality meat cuts, toasted perfectly, and with the pickle slices cut right then by the hard-working gentleman on the food prep job (not old pickle slices from a jar)--nice job, guy! I DEFINITELY recommend this place for great coffee, a great Cuban, great service, and a family-style welcome!

I haven't been here in quite a while but it is one of my all time favorite places to go when I'm in the area. Many beverages to choose from. Today I had a Mocha Almond Delight and it certainly was DEEE-lightful. My friend had Chocolate Mexicano and her eyes widened with as she sipped - said it was phenomenal. We also had an almond croissant (heated) and a coconut doughnut - both very fresh and tasty. The line may be late ng but the service is quick, friendly and they don't miss a beat.

I got the morning bagel which came with a bagel, cream cheese tomato and cucumber. I got it no tomato though because I hate those lol but it was so good simple and refreshing. I loved the atmosphere and coffee shops are my favorite. I got the lavender vanilla hot latte 10/10. Definitely check it out

I ordered the bagel LOX and a horse coffee. The bagel tasted amazing, however they smothered the bagel with cream cheese, she that gives you a gag. Also the salmon tasted rotten or maybe I'm not used to preserved food, but it tasted awful to me. I would definitely get the bagel with light cream cheese onions and cucumbers. Also the coffee is easy better than Starbucks, again please ask for light cream, because they'll put a lot and that takes away the flavor of the coffee. It's extremely busy, and only street parking, i won't be returning

Found this spot while driving around Pilsen. Breakfast bagels and sandwiches are amazing. We had a Lox Bagel, and each bite was full of fresh and tasty ingredients. Coffee is delicious, we had an Iced Carmela, and it is tasty with notes of smoked caramel. The line goes out the door, so you know it is good!

I have been coming here for so long (over 10 years)! Food is so good here, the soups (always runs out fast), the sandwiches, and smoothies. The coffee is horrible, but many people like it. The service is ok and the place is too tiny, if you dine-in expect to bump into people (tables are always taken). Maybe go early or take it to go!

Such a great place for coffee! The atmosphere is everything! Not a place your can actually work from though since there isn't much space nor tables.

This is definitely a local favorite. There was a line spilling out onto the street. To me, the sandwich and coffee were good but nothing extraordinary. Maybe I just didn't know the magic order. It does have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options, which I appreciated, and it's a nice place to people watch.

Since I came to Chicago in August 2021 this is the best coffee I ever had. I ordered cappuccino and Veg Focaccia with chips. Foccacia was awesome but Cappuccino was beyond amazing. The one who made me the coffee was very polite, when I asked her to make my coffee a little more strong.

Their molletes are incredible. Spent a lot of long nights here during grad school. Glad to see they survived the pandemic, as this shop has the kindest workers, most reasonably priced food, best vibes, and strong coffee in the area. I do wish they were still open til 9 PM though

On their windows they have a sign which states only four people allowed. Due to Covid, today I went in and after I went in 6 more people went in. 10 people inside, I mention it to one of the employee's. She decided to ignore me. This was unbelievable and very irresponsible of them. They have had two male employees with covid in the last month.
