The majestic Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, at 200 feet, is the tallest building at the University of Chicago. The lavender garden is beautiful as are the many wood and stone carvings and the intricate ceiling. Come hear one of the largest carillons in the world. One of the best times to see the Rockefeller Chapel is the one weekend in October each year when it is open to the Chicago Architectural Foundation's Open House Chicago. Amazing.

Massive and beautiful. A true gem of the south side. When I came here it was completely empty and it was nice to just sit and take it all in. Also, make sure to check out the schedule of the chapel, as they hold live concerts.

Gorgeous architecture all around - inside, outside, the tower, and the bells are incredible! There are 72 bells in the tower and together they are the second heaviest "carillon" in the world. You can even get a tour of the tower and see the carillonist play from the keyboard at the top. A truly amazing experience, I recommend everyone visit!

The Rockefeller Memorial Chapel is a great visit whether you are a tourist or a Chicago native. The chapel is a magnificent structure with beautiful stain glass and design. On Sunday afternoons, you can climb the 271 steps to the top of the carillon tower, where you can see bells that are the size of a car to the size of a gear shift knob. The services are lovely, and there are often amazing guest speakers or musicians- check the schedule

Beautiful! Excellent singing and worship. Clergy was very welcoming. Message was heartfelt and convicting. Came back later that night for concert.

Rockefeller is a beautiful building which hosts one of the largest carillons in the world. The tower which hosts the carillon is the tallest on the uchicago campus, and tours to see the view from the top (along with the carillon bells and the keyboard) run leave from inside the front doors at 11:30 am or 4:30 pm on weekdays and 12:15 pm on Sundays. The rest of the chapel is well worth a visit as well!

We got married at Rockefeller Chapel and it was absolutely perfect! Angela and Mike were great as coordinators; Angela helped us work out a lot of our wedding details and really helped us make the space and ceremony our own. Tom, the organist, was very open to the new and unique songs we requested that he play during our ceremony, and the bells sounded beautiful. It was quite hot the day of our wedding (96 degrees!) and the chapel has no A/C, but the wedding party stayed cool in the A/C in the bridal suite downstairs, and Angela made sure there were plenty of fans going inside the Chapel and that guests knew where to find water. It was so awesome to have our wedding at Rockefeller – we highly recommend it!

Although it is called a chapel, this has to be one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world with a magnificent pipe organ.

A beautiful impressive site and both events I attended here were enhanced by the place as well as the acoustics. Calling it a chapel is certainly a misnomer....
