The food is good haven’t tried everything they offer but so far the only food complaint is that the morning shift makes a better more fuller burrito than the Night Shift would like to see a consistency no matter who is cooking, wait times are very long, the salsas are good out of all the cashiers I have seen only 1 has been friendly and makes you feel welcome the rest are very rude and robotic if you are spending $15 plus on a burrito you should feel that your business is appreciated the customer service needs a lot of work

Stopped by for the first time after hearing great things about their California burrito. Was definitely pleased with the experience. Cashiers were very friendly and pleasant. We beat the dinner rush but the lines were very long when we were eating. The cooks were hustling and getting the food out very quickly. We got our food in about 15 mins which consisted of 2 California burritos. The carne asada is the typical carne you get at most Mexican restaurants so nothing crazy there. Tons of guac and sour cream that were tasty. They were a little light on the fries which was slightly disappointing but not a deal breaker. The salsa bar they have available was good as well. The green and orangish salsas were the better ones. Would have to say that the quality of the burrito is better than 90% of California burritos out there. Total came out to $28 for 2 Cali burritos. They also do not accept contactless forms of payment. Will definitely be back to try other items and will recommend to friends and family.

If carne asada fries your craving. EPG is were you should be heading! I wasn't able to finish the order by my self- might be a good thing to share!

The food was so amazing. I have never tasted Carne asada, so moist and soft with every bite. The fries was heavenly melting in your mouth. Food was amazing. I gave service a 2 star because the person at the cashier was not as genuine in helping a customer who has never been at the location. But everything else was amazing. If you haven't gone to this location, then please do so. I got the titan burrito.

Interesting, cashier was a bit rude refused to take a $50 bill. As an owner of several businesses I understand the importance of having your employees following protocol, but at the cost of losing business? Interesting, not only did they lose my son and I’s business but my family’s as well. I will never be back.

Giant portions but high prices. They were really busy so service was medium but recommended.

The Best Grilled Chicken this side of the Border! For Sure all food is very Good,I however prefer the chicken slowly grilled, juicy, it comes with side of rice, beans (refried beans for me thank you) it cost a bit more but is worth it,corn tortillas, flour or you can have half corn half flour, salsa bar ,come hungry you'll like it

A bit disappointed with the menudo here, 1; was not piping hot, 2; a bit warm only, plus hominy galore. I didn't order hominy soup. I normally go to the Lemon Grove location but saw this location since I was in the neighborhood. To be fair it was tasty, soft and edible, but I love all my soups boiling hot, not lukewarm! ***Updated on 9/12/2021*** I'm sticking to the Lemon Grove location, I tried the carnitas plate and no, it was not what I expected. Good portions, but too dry for my standards. Never going back to this location, big difference in the quality. Even the chicken is tastier over there. Yes this was my 3rd and final visit to this location. It's too bad because I come to this area about once a week on business.

As a burrito connoisseur and recovering burrito addict, I have to say they have the best burrito in San Diego. I particularly like the pollo asado California burrito. Their ratios are good, pricing is fair, and salsa game is on point. They've also stayed consistent throughout the years, which is key!

The chicken was tender & flavorful. They also had very tasty Carne Asada tacos. The only reason this is not a 5 star review is because we were given the back part of the chicken which is mostly skin & bones. We took the order to go & didn't know until we were home. However, I would definitely go there again, I just know to ask for no back pieces.

This is a great place if you are hungry for chicken or carne asada! I've been coming here for years, and I'll be going back again. The food is great, and the staff are friendly. Thanks, El Pollo Grill for all my hunger needs!

Fantastic Mexican food that is worth the trip. The burritos are giant and tend to give big portions for every dish. Be prepared to have a to-go box. The inside of the restaurant is terrific. They are decorated with Mexican artwork. The food is wonderful and reminds me of food back home.

Excellent food. Big portions and high quality. Chicken is constantly being grilled right in front of the window inside the restaurant. I have had their tacos (big) and their carne asada fries and both were excellent. I also like their grilled chicken meals that come with rice, beans, and tortillas.

If I wanted a taco salad I would've made that at home! Horrible presentation, its like a salad on top of rolled tacos, with a HINT of sour cream, and HINT of cheese. I could've gotten better rolled tacos, AND CHEAPER at Humbertos! Will stick to burritos from now on... also, cashier (Naida) seems to not have any type of customer service, serious face and attitude. Not even a smile... seen better days at EPG.

The only place that is open on Christmas and employees are friendly. Their pinto beans and rice are legit, on the savory side. Chicken is for the sake of the name, being the main dish.

I arrived in San Diego and wanted a quick convenient meal at a family owned Mexican style restaurant. This place was recommended to me by the individual whose AirBnB I was staying at. The service was really good and the place had a lot of customers. It could have used a bit of a cleaning as I had to wipe up my table a bit. That aside, the food was absolutely delicious. I got one of the flame broiled chicken specials which included: 2 pieces of flame broiled chicken, rice, charro beans and choice of tortillas. Plenty of food for a reasonable price.

I saw the higher prices and was a little discouraged, but was in a hurry to eat and hit the road. I settled for the mulitas, and damn, they served a ton of food. My kid got the chicken, and lots of rice and beans. They gave her a churro that I didn't order. Definitely has the family feel to the place. I'm a fan. Good people here.

Fresh, tasty, and juicy grilled chicken that is full of flavor. Whole beans are my favorite here. The salsa bar offers many great choices. The whole chicken family meal is a great deal. Comes with tortillas of your choice. You can order ahead or eat inside or outside tables are available. Parking plenty.

Went here in a spur of the moment kind of dinner with my family, thought the fish burrito was excellent. Spice level in it caught me off guard (weak spice game here though), but can hardly call that a negative. Fries were straight out the frier which for some reason is a rarity in food places, just shows everything we ordered was as fresh as could be

We placed an order and the cook got it completely wrong so we turn around to go get the right order and it was closed but I saw an employee sitting on the side of the building and I told him the problem and he shrugged his shoulders rudely and said, "So?" And just basically proceeded to tell me oh well. It doesn't matter that of all the places I could have spent my money, I chose El Pollo Grill and they can't even make an order correctly or manage to deal with customers with any respect. Total disappointment.

Do NOT buy the flan. I thought it was just from the flan but I found 5 bugs in a slice of flan! I don’t even want to know what the food Can have and I hope it’s not infested as the flan.

Three quesa birra tacos were a mistake on my part, two'd have been plenty but that's my own fault. Food was solid, some of the better of the type I've had. The guy who recommended it to me raved about it and while I didn't think it was as great as him, I'd be up for going back if I'm in the area. Plus since I only had one type of thing for all I know the rest of their menu might've hit better for me.

El Pollo Grill is great for families, a quick bite, eat in or take out. Mexican cuisine that specializes in grilled meats. The grilled chicken has plenty of savoring spices and can be eaten alone, in tortillas, or prepared in other dishes at home. Salsa is always fresh with a variety of choices. Kids menu available including daily specials. El Pollo is most notable for their huge burritos and carne asada fries. Unfortunately, 3* rating for inconsistent meat texture and moistness. When prepared well, portions are fit for a King's table and delectable. Perhaps your hit won't be a miss.
