Definitely worth the visit! I would recommend going early in the morning so that you can avoid the huge crowds. I would also recommend going uphill first and then going downhill towards the lake after the hike, else you’ll be wet while hiking :). There were 2 lovely dogs accompanying us up the hill, which was nice! At the top there were some locals selling some food/drinks if I remember correctly. The hike isn’t so challenging and the route is quite clear. Bring some food and water and you’ll be fine. Oh and make sure to bring a mosquito spray, these are terrible here..

Beautiful place with fresh natural pools. The hike to the top is a 30mins one way uphill to see the top view of the pools. It’s nice to see the aerial view of the pools. I would not recommend this to someone not into hiking. Along the hike you will find locals selling fruit, soda and water. There are lockers for keeping the stuff safe while you swim across the pools. It’s great to chill in a pool even if you don’t want to swim.

Great place to relax where the Earth swallows the water... Walk up to the mirador and have a look. Walk down and swim in the pools. Find your way in a dark cave. Jump off the big rock at the waterfall. Tube down the river. Three days is plenty long enough to visit here. Stay at GreenGos for Internet and food. Stay at El Portal if you want to disconnect.

This place is difficult to get to, but it's well worth it. It is a series of pools, interconnected by beautiful waterfalls. The scenery around it is beautiful, set between two high mountains. The water is crystal clear and not too cold to swim in. It's even possible to slide down some of the waterfalls into the pools on the next levels down. There is a viewpoint that you can climb to up a long series of rock steps and wooden staircases. This takes around half an hour to climb and is really very demanding, but the views from the top are breathtaking. At the entrance, there are vendors selling freshly prepared food, but if you want some, get it before you enter as there are none near the pools. There are toilets, changing rooms and even lockers to place your items, although it seems that you need to bring your own padlocks to lock them. Many people just leave their bags by the side of the pools though and although it's not guaranteed, it seems quite safe to do so.

Beautiful place, Worth the hike to the top, to see the amazing birds eye views below. About 30 mins hike to the top with small fruit shacks along the way by locals, for nibbling long the hike. Once the hike is done. Head down to the natural pools and enjoy the dip in them.

One of the best experience in Guatemala for sure! The road is very rocky, therefore I don’t recommed to go with your own car. Also, best experience with the guide. At first I was a bit sceptical, but once we started exploring caves and going to places I would never have found by myself I was absolutely over the moon. Guide Daniel is best +502 3227 4500

This was one of the most amazing places I have ever been. Warning it is not the easiest trip down the mountain. They are currently working on a new road and you can sit and wait for an hour sometimes. They will have people offering drinks while you wait. On your way down I recommend stopping at the Exon gas station (not exxon) and getting a ride the rest of the way with them. It cost 4 of us a total of 200 Q both ways and beyond worth it! Now I did not book a tour or do the caves. I heard some good and bad about those. Instead we did the hike to the top so we could get the iconic pics of Semuc. This is an extremely vertical hike. Probably 40 minutes but it's hot, humid and high altitude. Take your time. Be sure to look around I was able to see about 10 monkeys! We then went and enjoyed the pools! This is where the trip down the mountain and the long hike make it all worth it! The pools at Semuc Champey are beautiful! Extremely clear water, at least in May. With a beautiful blue/green hue. BE SURE TO BRING WATER SHOES! I survived without mine but I was very jealous of my buddy. As far as safety is concerned I felt extremely safe especially in the park. We left our stuff unattended and nothing was stolen as they have workers and tourism police around. You can bring a lock and they have storage near the pools along with a changing room and bathrooms.

Amazing, beautiful, and well-kept park. Friendly and helpful staff/workers throughout our experience. Showed up right as they opened to avoid any other tourists/travelers. Difficult 30 minute or so hike to the lookout, which is stunning and absolutely worth it. Steep and slippery trail but was defined and being improved at parts. Fruit vendors on the way down had delicious offerings. Swam around for several hours and bathed while watching more people enter the park. Got slightly crowded in the afternoon but not overbearing.

Fantastic trip to Semuc and the caves. We went with Utopia hostel. I would recommend a tour as you cannot enter the cave without a guide, also you can walk it from hostels but it's up to an hour and more in 30+ degrees. We did the viewpoint and pools first then the cave and waterfall. It was fantastic. Make sure to do the couple of jumps by the water falls if the river is high enough. One in 5 metres and the other is 10 metres. We also tubed back to our hostel which was great fun. I think the river is low now and getting lower so tubing and diving may not be possible.

It takes a long time to get here from Flores and Guatemala City - up to 12 hours by bus on very rocky roads! When you arrive there are limited choices to stay but highly recommend Greengo’s. Semuc is a short walk up there hills. The view is good and you are allowed in the water to swim. Take water shoes that have some grip. You can buy these from locals prior to entering. There is a trek to a view point that is tough but rewarding. Take plenty of water, there are locals selling coconut water and fruit on the way. A long time travelling and I would question if it is worth it… Cash only.

Absolutely beautiful place, if you take a tour here you'll start off by exploring the water caves with candles and you'll go about 1km inside (the total length of the caves is 11km- possibly can explore the rest if you go by yourself or arrange differently) and you'll be swimming and climbing at some points. After they'll take you to the waterfalls for a swim, lunch then a hike up to the viewpoint for an aerial view of the pools, then down to get fresh as you'll be very sweaty after the straight upward hike. The pools are very lovely to swim in and for photos, if you have a waterproof phone case/cover I'd recommend bringing it, especially for the water caves. Don't miss this place.

Very beautiful place! I like the very clear pools you can swim in. There's little fish 🐟🐠 that like to check you out😀 which I found disturbing trying to sit and relax as they are constantly nibbling at you 😎. Great experience otherwise!

Great place! We enjoyed the viewing platform and playing in the water! The trail to the platform was steep but worth it. And the water was cool and clear. There is parking at the trailhead that was free and secure but the road to drive there was rough but doable in our pickup truck.

Favorite place visited in all Guatemala! What a paradise this place is. If you go, I suggest to stay at Greengo’s which is only a 10-15min walk from Semuc Champey. We were able to visit it two days in a row which was amazing.

Amazing. You can find in the park people who sell: orange juice, coconuts, lunch buffet . I don't know if it's true but I was told the park is closed on Mondays. Also, don't bring any valuable because they don't have lockers.

Definitely a highlight of my trip to Guatemala. Stunningly beautiful from both the lookout and the pools themselves. I did the cave tour/tubing before visiting the park and highly recommend, even if it's a little pricey at ~100Q. The only thing I'd skip is the rope swing into the river because it's not very deep and it's hard to not land awkwardly, plus there are a few other much nicer opportunities to jump into deeper water later in the tour. The hike to the summit takes roughly an hour and has a bunch of places to stop and rest where you can buy cold drinks from the locals. Definitely do the hike before swimming because it's sweaty and you can cool off in the pools when you're done.

Beautiful, didn't want to leave. You can easily visit yourself without doing one of the tours. A collectivo truck costs Q25 from Lanquin to Semuc then Q50 entry fee. Bring food, make a day of it

BEAUTIFUL EVEN WHEN RAINING ✨ This is one of the Top 3 things to do in Guatemala. This is an incredible spot, where you can swim and hike. We had a very mixed day, sun and rain (very little) and it definetly worth it even under the rain… It is… adventurous to get here but definitely worth it

Absolutely stunning! The natural pools are crystal clear and make for a lovely swim (and beautiful pictures). We went in by ourselves on day 1 and with a tour on day 2 which was perfect because it gives you the time to explore but also to combine with the caving (which was awesome) and tubing and be with a group. Tip: the shallow part right after the lockers is a great place for a natural fish spa, just put your feet in the water and the fish will come to you :)

Great place to visit on a sunny day. I think it is a little over hyped in the travel community. But the nature pools are really pretty and the water is clean to swim in. A steep 30 min hike to the view point. Recommend to avoid flip flops. 50Q entrance.

Beautiful waterfalls in the heart of the Guatemalan jungle. A unique place. It was definitely worth spending the night in a poor Pachamaya River hostel to go for a walk early in the morning. The view point guarantees the best view, but waiting in line for the photo takes all the satisfaction.

It’s one of Guatemala’s top tourist destinations but quite off the beaten track so you don’t have to share it with too many. It’s pretty but in the end just a fancy river in the jungle… Excess road is rough but doable in a soccer mom 4WD SUV.

Definitely worth the visit. Super peaceful and a great way to enjoy the nature. Unfortunately it is full of tourists so it can get very busy so highly recommend getting there very early. You can enter park and go out to enjoy a buffet of great local food for lunch then Re-enter the park for the afternoon. Hike up to the top for a great view.

A must when in Guatemala, even though it’s in the middle of nowhere! Stayed two nights at El Retiro Lodge in Lanquín and had one full day at Semuc. Paid Q50 per person for entrance fee and Q10 for parking (we drove ourselves in a rental car). We didn’t take a tour, got there around 11:30am, and it wasn’t obnoxiously crowded. It took us about 20 mins to hike up to el Mirador and around 25 minutes to hike down the other way that goes straight to las pozas. We didn’t take breaks going either way and although it’s a bit strenuous going up, definitely do this hike at your own pace to get the iconic and picturesque view! There are some vendors at the rest stops along both ways selling fruit (mangoes, watermelon, etc.) and sometimes water - we did not buy anything though. We mistakenly didn’t bring enough cash to go tubing, so we spent the rest of our time relaxing in the water, getting some sun, and going from pool to pool. None of us had water shoes and were fine but be careful because it is VERY slippery at many points! When we left a little past 4pm, the park was almost empty. Semuc isn’t very extensive, but I’m very happy we took the time to travel to and fit a visit here into our itinerary! If you plan accordingly and do your research before going, I’d definitely recommend!! :))

This exceeded my expectations. The hike up to the mirador took me 45 minutes due to how hot it was, but it was worth it. There are people selling drinks and coconuts on your way up. Get there early to beat the crowds and take nice pictures. I went down the same way I went up and apparently there was a different way down, but I didn’t see any signs for that. The other way down will lead you to the ponds (look for signs that says pozas). The ponds can be deep in the middle so stick to the edges if you can’t swim! The rocks in the ponds can be slippery even with water shoes so be careful! If you want to be in a pond with less people, go to the ponds that are closer to the changing rooms and not the locker rooms.

Beautiful Beautiful place, wow! Q50 entrance fee for tourists. you'll need a 4x4 to get down there if your stay is at Lanquin. That's also an adventure. To get to the lookout spot you need to hike a while, at least 30minutes on a very steep and stony path. We did it with watershoes but I'd recommend good boots. there are also some people selling drinks and fruits up there. Support them! There are also families selling food and little children selling chocolate close to the entrance. Buy it! the food is great and the chocolate is amazing and totally handmade (we saw that first hand) and the people living there are very poor. all in all an amazing place.

It's just an amazing place to see and spend the day. Besides it's remarkable to have a Cat 5 white water river underneath another river. This is a truly awesome experience being in the jungle and imagining how the ancient tribes lived there.

Beautiful. 50 qtz in per day (cash). There are insects that bite so be wary. Some people wear water shoes it's optional but can get slippy in the water. I preferred to just be in bare feet in the water. Make sure to walk to the very end to see where the river begins to go under the natural bridge. There's no places to buy water snacks in there so bring them with you. Just make sure to bring any rubbish home. If you do the mirador then there is ladies at the top selling fruits etc. The mirador is steep but so worth it. There's signs for it in there. There's lockers and dressing rooms in there but bring your own lock.

Super relaxing pools and waterfalls. Skip the guide and go yourself. The mirador is a nice uphill stair hike/climb. Bring a book, buy sliced mango once in the park and spend your day here. DO NOT EAT AT THE RESTAURANT AT THE YELLOW BRIDGE.

Amazing waterfall on top of a CAT5 river. The Mirador trail is insane and there are howlers in the trees.

We walked from Lanquín to Semuc Champey. It was mostly downhill and a very pleasant 10km walk! At the park, make sure to have a mask to get in because there is a group of unmasked young men who require you to have a mask to get in. Obviously, one of them also happens to sell overpriced masks... Other than this, the trail to the viewpoint is well maintained (but definitely slippery!). The pools are beautiful and there are changing rooms so that you can change before swimming. There are also boxes to lock your things. Bring your own lock! Water shoes would have been nice, but they are not necessary.

Amazing place to visit. It is in the middle of nowhere, to get here you need to come to Lanquin first, they have buses from Cobán for 25Q or if you take your car you can park in the municipality park for free, don't overpay at other places! To get to Semuc you take a pickup for 15Q and the entrance to Semuc is 50q. Go check out the viewpoint first and then enjoy swimming in the pools.

Go, go, go! This is a place, so lovely, so peaceful and the best: totally undercrowded. I hope this will stay that way and please, if you really get in the pools for feeding the fish with your sunburned skin... don't cream yourself before. I think we can all agree, that nobody needs a second Pamukkale. Check the pics and imagine how calming down a bath in this terrace pools in the middle of nowhere somwhere in the pure nature might be.
